That said, the firefighters and police officers, First Responders have been doing an amazing job. We have been supporting them and have about 300 folks on the ground. There was a rain threat that moved through quicker than expected but there is another threat tomorrow so we are concerned about additional flooding. We get flooding out here but we have not had big flooding. The thing that surprises me as we look at these of flooded cars, it does not take much to float a car. You can float a car in 2 feet of water. That is absolutely right. Im seeing the imagery but one of the collateral issues here is those cars are no longer going to work so there will be a very significant transportation issue for folks in houston who have lost their automobiles. Some of them will not be fully insured so it is going to be a long road back and lets face it, our hearts go out to the people of texas. They had flooding about a month and a half ago, they just keep getting hit over and over. But do you have any ideas . I never thought about people losing their transportation. It will be tough to get to work. Do you have an estimate of how many people lost mobility . It is too early but i can tell you there are probably 15,00020,000 who will be displaced because of damage to dwellings. We are awaiting the assessment for singlefamily homes but i expect that to be in the thousands. We will begin a Massive Mission tomorrow with our partners and we have 16 shelters open today. I expect to see shelters opening and closing. We will be doing relief distribution and casework but it is really just an unprecedented year for disasters down in the south. In some areas who have almost 2 feet of rain in a short amount of time. That is a lot of water and im seeing 1200 water rescues in the last couple of days. Do you have enough people to produce that many . Thats a lot of water rescues. They are being performed by local authorities. We are doing our best to support them by providing services and doing relief operations but i have to tell you, your point about the amount of water that fell, in one day they got the same amount for a big get on average in the month of april. I think i saw a number about 1. 2 trillion gallons of water fell in the last 48 hours. We do get flooding and ive helped to the cleanup. If you have never been in a flood, there is nothing more difficult than cleanup not only for disease but with standing water, the smell, it seeps into everything. You have a huge urban area with many feet of water. The cleanup is going to be monumental. It is going to go on for days. The first one i was at was at my grandparents home and i will never forget that smell. Anybody who has done this never will. We will be delivering shovels and buckets and helping people with bold because that is really what it takes. Some people will end up rebuilding their homes and others are going to do their best to clean up. It is not just the home but your possessions and photos and books. You have had big hurricanes, where does this rank in terms of natural disasters . This is the greatest amount of rainfall and flooding that this area has had since about the 1800s, so this is a very significant event in and want to be clear that the Damage Assessment has not even yet begun.
