Reporter contractors and engineers will be out here to try top shore up what is damaged and protect what is not. The problem is buildings like this one. The one you see behind me here. Buildings like it are all over the bay area. Its unreenforced. But sometimes the quake strikes first. The owners of velo pizzeria had to turn people away yesterday that is because red tag is on their three week old restaurant. Even though the landlord had the property retro fitted and not one bottle broke. Its the buildings that back up to the pizzeria and others that are considered hazardous. The lawyer that owns the brown state building has been told for years to retro fit but hasnt. The idea of spending a lot of money on that when its not necessary doesnt make a lot of sense to me. He doesnt think its necessary. It looks necessary to me. Reporter silver says he has plans to expand and remodel all of the buildings and do the retro fit then. He says hes being cast as the bad guy but business is on the cusp of a very lucrative Labor Day Weekend and they want a lesson learned. Now the goal if s to get the businesses open by tonight. It happened just before 11 00 last night on northbound 880. Officers say a woman in her 30s hit the white plastic lane dividers between the lanes and crashed her bike. It does not appear other vehicles were involved. Medical team arrived and they were able to look over the rider and ever said the rider at the time was deceased. The chp shut down several lanes on northbound 880 right aft accident. Those lanes have since reopened. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Oakland chp is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to give them a call. In the meantime the Redwood City Police department will be conducting a Motorcycle Safety enforcement operation today. Officers will be patrolling areas popular with motorcyclists in areas where motorcycle crashes most frequently occur. They will be cracking down on drivers and riders who will be speeding, making illegal u turns. A woman found dead in a car that was parked outside of a church was stabbed to death. A passer by called police around 11 00 yesterday morning after seeing the woman inside a car in the parking lot outside grace church. The woman was pronounced today dead at the scene. The churchs pastor said the woman had no apparent connection to the church. They knew it wasnt associated with anything that haps here on a regular basis in the church. Whatever happens, happens. No relationship to the programs and the people who participate in those programs. The womans name has not been released and no arrests have been made. It is san joses 26 homicide of the year. The Santa Clara CountySheriffs Office is looking for another woman. The badly burned body was found along a busy road. They got out of their cars and found the body about 2030 feet from the road. Investigators say the body was burned beyond recognition and they are treating the case as a homicide. Drivers heading into San Francisco will have to find a different route if they normally take interstate 280. Cal tran shut down the freeway yesterday afternoon for a seismic safety project.
