Another delay in the case against a man accused of killing missing south bay teen sierra lamar. Garcia torrez was in court in san jose to set a trial date. His defense attorney asked for more time because he says the District Attorneys Office is still trying to decide whether to ask for the death penalty. Garcia torrez has pleaded not guilty to the kidnapping and murder of the 15yearold lamar. The morgan hill teenager disappeared in march of 2012 on her way to school. The next court date is set for june 11th. Cries in the dark where people in a berkeley neighborhood woke up this morning to a woman who was screaming for help. Around 5 00 this morning, the teenage victim of a horrible crime was dumped here. I opened the window, and i heard that she said i want water. I want water. Ive been pepper sprayed. I jumped up out of bed and i said to my husband, you hear that. Residents rushed out of their homes to help the girl. We were told one of those residents is a marine who served in afghanistan and is also a paramedic. So we figured okay, shes in good hands. The 16yearold had been kidnapped and sexually assaulted in some other city and dumped naked and pepper sprayed in the face here. One resident brought her a bottle of water and without even thinking she poured the whole thing all over herself because she was hurting so bad. And then as soon as she did that, she got so cold, she then said im freezing. Im cold, so i innocent there, got so i went in there, got her a blanket. Berkeley police started the investigation but Oakland Police took over and say the incident started in a whole different city. So she was saying the victim of a possible Sexual Assault and then maybe robbery, so ultimately its their determination what actually happened. The girl was rushed Highland Hospital in oakland for treatment. Theres no word on her condition. Anybody in that kind of pain and in that kind of situation, its awful. They Say University students held what they call a faint in today over what they call potentially dangerous conditions. We need its too hot. About 100 san jose state students and some faculty members protested what they call intolerable conditions in one of the oldest campus buildings. On a day when temperatures climbed into the 70s, warm air blew from vents into the hall and the windows cant be opened. Protesters say at least three students have passed out in hot classrooms. Fremont police announced the arrest of three people in connection with a robbery last week at an atm. Investigators say these two men and a 17yearold were arrested today on charges including robbery and elder abuse. The arrests came after a 67 yearold man was robbed at gunpoint on april 9th at an atm on fremont boulevard. Police yesterday released this Surveillance Video of the two men who investigates say use investigators say used the victims credit cards at a Convenience Store a short time after that robbery. The right third of it where a vehicle registration sticker should be is sheered off. Mike schulz discovered the chopped up plate on his car in coolidge avenue in Oakland Hills a couple of weeks ago. It was in the driveway. I came out and my license plate had been basically busted in two. Hes still trying to figure out exactly what the thieves were after. One of two things they were just trying to steal the whole plate and it broke on them. Or someone cut the plate to steal the registration. Up close it looks like someone took sheers and just cut the plate in two. The chp says it is an unusual tactic, but they have heard of this happening before. Actually seen it a few times where somebody will cut the license plate. Theyll cut the corner off to get to the license plate tab. Its a crime that usually doesnt get reported. Drivers will typically head to the dmv for a new sticker and plate. Another driver on coolidge also had her license plate cut up. In this photo from a neighborhood website shows a third car from the area with a chopped plate. He recommends uses a razor to cut into the stickers one once they applied. More details now, registered vehicles in california there are 32 million of them. The average amount californians pay to register their vehicle is 169. Depending on the size and type of the vehicle, registration can cost several hundred dollars more than that. We spoke to the dmv for this story and found out the agency does not keep track of the number of lost or stolen vehicle registration stickers that it replaces even though drivers have to check a box explaining whether their registration was lost or stolen when they fill out an application for the replacement. They were quite surprised when they found the pup hopping through an almond orchard. The ranch is a mile away from the san joaquin river. The pup known as choppy was found last month and taken to the Marine Mammal center. Workers hope the sea lion had eventually be returned to the wild. At this point its unclear why hoppy left the water and hopped such a long way. Last nights dodgers giants game didnt finish until early this morning.
