Continuing coverage on flu fears gripping our state, state Health Leaders saying the flu season is escalating to Dangerous Levels all due to the aggressive h1n1 virus targeting young people. Weve tracked the rising death toll since the beginning of the year this flu season and today the California Health department confirmed 50 flu related deaths this week alone. That brings the state total to 95 deaths, all but one of them confirmed as the h1n1 virus. Last year 106 people died from the flu. The property manager at the china town Apartment Building where the crime happened says there are more than 100 video cameras there and at least one captured the suspect mario toliver jr. A San Francisco Police Officer charged with molesting a teenager from concord appeared in court today. 38yearold Richard Hastings made a brief appearance this morning in Contra Costa County superior court. He faces nine counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a 15 yearold boy and one count of possessing child pornography. Hes being held on 910,000 bail. He did not enter a plea today but is expected to return to court monday for a bail hearing and arraignment. A benefit got underway in santa rosa late this afternoon for the family of andy lopez. Hes the 13yearold boy shot and killed by a Sonoma County sheriffs deputy. Lopez was killed last october. At the time he was carrying a replica gun that the deputy mistook for a real automatic weapon. The benefit is at the Arlene Francis center. Organizers say there will be food and several performances by musical guests. Money raised will go toward the lopez family.
