scene near l street just up the tracks past the crosswalk a teenage girl was struck and killed by a freight train. this is the second young woman killed by a train in this area in recent months and we are being told the two victims had been good santa fe freight train was a mile long, after 9:00 one witness said he heard the squeal of a train's brakes and the speed limit is 60 miles per hour. >> i jessie and samantha were close and she often came here to visit the area where she was kill. >> she always visited here and she would say i am at jessie's spot. >> samantha's friends says she was conference this afternoon at oakland city hall. for months mayor jean quan has been talking about the one hundred blocks initiative and says 90% of violent crime happens within one hundred block and that statistic is flat out wrong and today the mayor herself admitted to the mistake saying that data was flawed. as mayor i should have taken more time to analyze the data and read it myself. i didn't. so i will take full responsibility for the error. >> mayor jean quan was in brazil when a top aid disclosed the mistake. today was the first time we seen the mayor admit to the flawed statistic. the mayor defends her strategy to focus on key neighborhoods where the highest incident of high crime. she has the right team for the job and critics include councilman larry read and walked out of the press conference visibly frustrated and says the mayor's crime plan does not work and believes that the mayor owes it to the people to say she is sorry. >> i believe she owes it to the city to have an apology. >> do you think that was enough. >> no, political bs to cover my rear-end. >> we have crews working the angles. we talked to another councilmember that has a step to help turned up with stab wounds at a hospital. robert from was suffering from self-inflicted stab wounds. he was taken to the hospital and will be booked once released. the girl is expected to survive. a jury has found a fairfield mother was sane when she killed her 3-year-old twins. 29-year-old monica mccarera was found guilty earlier this month of killing her daughters with a samurai sword in october of 2010. investigators say that mccarera kill her girls before trying to take her own life and setting their apartment on fire. tip from the public led to the arrest of two men and a seizure of hundreds of pounds of illegal fireworks from two homes in pa checko. officers were there from the costa county fire and sheriff's office along with cal fire raided the homes. 45-year-old richard installing new sensors to detect pollution. researchers say the censors will help measure the effectiveness of programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. a new assembly bill could make it more difficult for parents to opt out of vaccinations for their children. shots are required for school admission. currently all parents do to opt out is sign a form. parent would need a form signed by a
