the man who has been in power for the last 30 years. >> he's a pathological power, at this point it's a psychological battle. he clearly doesn't want to go. >> reporter: professor eberham says that she expects the protest to continue every day until mubarak is gone from office. live tonight in san francisco, mike mibach, ktvu channel 2 news. what was most important about mubarak's much anticipated speech today is what he did not say. military officials everyone the cia directors indicated mubarak would step down. instead he said he would remain in office until elections in september. he said that he has requested six constitutional amendments they want and he promised to lift controversial emergency laws when security improves. facebook and twitter are playing a large part in fueling that demonstration going on in egypt. that was one of the topics in an online town meeting this morning in san francisco. the u.s. ambassador to egypt hosted the event. susan rice told us that twitter and facebook are a political instrument. the u.s. state department just yesterday launched an arab language twitter feed. as history unfolds in egypt, the egyptian museum in san jose is seeing a spike in popularity. they are seeing more visitors since the crisis began. they say attendance there is up about 10%. >> i think everyone recognizes that egypt has played a major role in the middle east as an ally with the united states and justice in a very strategic position in many ways. >> reporter: the museum says it houses the largest display of egyptian artifacts. we have more video of the protest and the slide show of the major political players, go to ktvu and click on the egypt tab. ktvu's patti lee is at the boys and girls club with steps that police took today. >> reporter: investigators combed this building for evidence, specifically this bathroom for evidence related to the assault charges. but as of late this afternoon, there were no charges stemming from this investigation. oakland investigators collected evidence from the boys & girls club on international boulevard this morning. after a 7-year-old boy alleged he was sexually assaulted by a group of boys all under the age of 12 in the bathroom last night. >> our hearts certainly go out to the young person at the center of this and to his family. >> reporter: the oakland boys and girls club is conducting its own investigation. its president calls the investigation the first blemish on the constitution. >> we are certainly going to conduct a full investigation in order to get to the bottom of this incident. >> i'm really, really confused and upset. sad for the situation. >> reporter: near by residents and parents who rely on the club say they are torn about how to react to the allegations. laura duvall says her three sons go to the club almost every night. >> they like it because they do a lot of things, they have lots of activities but at this point i don't know what's going to happen because i'm very worried because i just learned. >> reporter: the oakland police department says right now its still too early for investigators to determine just what happened in the bathroom last night. >> when you're in the preliminary stages of any investigation, you have to determine whether or not the facts of the case are accurate and how the alleged incident occurred. >> reporter: i just spoke to the president of the boys and girls club of oakland, he says the allegations have not impacted attendance today. and right now the organization is looking for a way to reach out to the community to let families know what's going on here at the center. reporting live in oakland, patti lee, ktvu channel 2 news. a south bay man will stand trial for beating a priest he claims molested him. a judge in san jose ruled this morning there is enough evidence to try 44-year-old william lynch on one count of felony assault. lynch is accused of beating 65- year-old gerald linder last year at a home for retired priests in los cados. lynch says that linder molested he and his brother and he wants the case to go to trial so he can expose linder. -- the prosecutor said since james is charged with murder her bail should be $1.5 million. james and her sister leti ci -- sister leticia were in court today. leticia had a baby while in jail last month. a transit official says one person got on the bus, looked and got off. then someone shot at the bus. the driver suffered minor cuts from shattered glass. a man remains in critical condition tonight after he was shot yesterday afternoon in san francisco's ash burn neighborhood. police say michael staffford was shot inside fred's new light supermarket by an employee there, sam kazua. the two men argued after staff ford accused kazua of kicking his small dog. kazua has been accused of several charges, including assault with a deadly weapon. the first set of meetings is getting under way right now to find a permanent police chief for san francisco. the job opened up last month when chief george gascon was appointed district attorney. the commission has been reviewing applications and plans to submit three recommendations to mayor ed lee by march 15. barry bonds is now facing only nine federal charges instead of 11. prosecutors filed a third revised indictment. they dropped six of the charges alleging bonds lied underoath when he testified that he never knowingly took performance enhancing drugs. the giant star is set to go on trial on march 21st. a protest outside a downtown san francisco hotel has wrapped up. but not before 20 people were arrested. hotel employees began protesting over an hour ago outside the hyatt regency embarcadero. they sat outside the hotel's reinvolving doors and began chanting. 23 demonstrators were arrested. the workers are angry because they claim they have made concessions to management that are still without a contract. six other similar protests took place today at hyatt hotels across the country. he risked his life to save others in a burning home, but a few days later received a pricey bill. new at 6:00, ktvu's maureen naylor is in san jose with what happened after that good samaritan contacted us. maureen. >> reporter: it started when that man was driving here down fox worthy avenue and he saw the home behind this fence on fire. he busted down the door and later got that big bill. but after we made some calls that changed. >> this was the fire right here. >> reporter: with flames and smoke all around, this san jose father of two young children was one of several people who stopped to help the morning of january 29th. >> after i had kicked the door down, once that happened, the oxygen hit it. so then all the smoke just overwhelmed me. >> reporter: the two people inside saved the ordeal. >> they came out and shook my hand saying, thank you you saved my life. because if it wasn't for you, it was me beating the door down that woke them up. >> reporter: so his wife was shocked when he received this bill. >> the bill is $1,847. and that's just for the ambulance ride. and the ambulance driver said there's nothing i can do. i guess that's the price you pay for trying to save somebody's life. >> we're trying to work with this family in order to eliminate this bill. >> reporter: today minutes before we talked to the fishers they got this. >> we wanted to take care of that bill that you had received. >> we live paycheck to paycheck, it would have been really hard to have done that. so that's why i'm so thankful. >> reporter: ambulance services is a private business not subsidized by taxpayer money and covered by most insurance companies, the fishers are uninsured. maureen naylor, ktvu news. a new poll suggests that californians aren't sure how they feel about governor brown. less than half of californians were undecided about brown's performance since he took office and deals with the $25 billion budget deficit. almost 34% approved of the job he was doing. similar poll last month, brown had more support with 41% approval. a north bay councilman is taking a unique step to try to reach his constituents. chris reason. the city is currently in bankruptcy, new orleans tops the list. tonight san francisco international airport is getting ready to reveal it's new terminal two. very few people have gotten inside to see what it looks like, by tonight tom vacar was allowed inside. and give us a tour, tom. >> reporter: and it was three years in construction, hundreds of workers are now in the final phase, rising from a long international terminal. by using the original buildings steel skeleton, and because construction companies needed the work, the project ends in the green. >> we saved 12 to 18 months off a usual construction cycle. the project is also being delivered under budget. >> reporter: virgin america invested heavily in the new structure throughout the recession. >> we're a long term business. into tomorrow, same deal. rain comes after the weekend, so go outside. i'll show you what we have on live storm tracker 2, the winds right now are relatively light. we've got a west-northwest wind at 10 miles per hour. we take a peak now and show you what we have. it's a cold night again tonight. same deal again tonight. freezing temperatures on the ground. mostly cooler as we go into the weekend. next week, rain returns. a big flip-flop if you will. easterly winds, northeasterly winds going this way. the winds are going to go westerly or southwesterly, this way, overnight lows come up. daytime highs come up and rain should fall all next week. napa we go through tomorrow morning, 28 degrees when you get moving around at 7:00 a.m. just 59 degrees at lunchtime. upper 60s late in the day. thursday or friday and saturday, here's your dry pattern it stays put. a nice one with cool start and mild daytime highs, but then this weather system comes on in, this next one. this is basically monday afternoon's commute. then something on tuesday, something on wednesday. and they keep coming. how strong they are? how many there are we don't really know yet. but we do know that next week is a wet pattern for the entire week. cooler, wet, breezy, snow in the mountains. snow levels could get down to 1,000 feet, 1,050 feet in the bay area. computer model shows the clouds moving through. when i see clouds coming over us tells me the ridge is breaking down. you do see rain starting to show up to the north. a five day forecast that does show a little bit of rain right at the very fifth day there. and then we go into a wet period. you know we definitely next week will be very different than this week. this has been a spring like week. next week is going to feel like a return to winter. >> thanks, bill. four new initiatives launched could help californians struggling to pay their mortgage. low and moderate income homeowners could end up getting up to $3,000 in monthly assistance. >> the money that california has received from the federal government is like madda from heaven. >> the initiative is funded by the treasury department. the government's latest weekly jobless reports show claims at their lowest level in three years. jobless claims fell by 33,000 last week to their lowest level since july of 2008. analysts say this is more evidence that the pace of economic growth is accelerating. cisco systems took a hit today at wall street. stocks fell by 13% by the end of trading. that's the biggest decline in three months. it was the third time in as many quarters that cisco stunned the market with a weak outlook. cisco is considered an industry bellwether and is the world's largest networking economic maker. u.s. markets ended on a mixed note. traders tried to grasp the ongoing developments in egypt. the dow lost 10 points, the tech heavy nasdaq ended up gaining 1/3 points. san francisco gets down to work. the to do list the city must tackle as it gets ready to host the america's cup. plans for the 34th americans cub in san francisco is coming to a focus. we got a look at the upcoming activities, and projects include making improvements to stanford. first played golf here at pebble beach when he was 15 years old. today bramela shot a 2.65. he was playing here with his old college teammate zack miller. now bramlet became the first african american in 25 years to earn a pga tour card by way of that grueling qualifying school process. he now joins tiger woods as the only black golfer on the pga tour. >> yeah, i just take it as a complement and try to keep doing what i'm doing. >> you really had to fight hard to get your card. that was another thing. a little mark for you in making you feel like i earned this now. >> any time you're up against the ropes and you're able to get through, you lie that in the bank. you feel like you can really do it and you know it's just a reminder that all the hard work is paying off. >>
