This is a plumbing business. And someone lives in the back of it. The victim was shot a few times in the leg. He was alert when Police Arrived but his injuries were serious enough that he was actually air lifted to a hospital. And meantime there are more details that are unfolding about how this shooting exactly unfolded. Police are describing it to me as a burglary in progress. They are basically saying the burglar was trying to break in, steal some things when the victim confronted him and shot him in the chest. Gunfire was exchanged because the victim obviously also shot. So the suspect he was driven to a nearby hospital and the people who drove him to that hospital are now in custody. They are at the Richmond Police station. Obviously a lot of details need to be sorted out. But some of the people that ive been audiocassetting to in the department say this is kind of an incredible story of someone who was basically about to be robbed. Authorities are trying to positively identify a body found on mt. Tam. Crews discovered a female body around 4 40 yesterday afternoon in an area not marked as a hiking trail. Clothing on the body matches that of 50yearold Marie Christine was wearing when she went for a hike on wednesday night. Her father reported her missing. She may have possibly fallen. Maybe 4050 feet down into the drainage which sadly is covered with large rocks and bolders and so forth. The coroner will use fingerprints, dental, and other medical records to identify the body. Sanders body was found in the same general area of another missing hiker. But there is no connection between these two deaths. The body of 33yearold the Software Developer was found in a steep slope. There are no signs of foul play in that case but the coroner will wait for toxicology tests before announcing a cause of death. Police are investigating a deadly shooting in downtown concord. It is the citys first homicide of the year. It happened just before 9 00 last night. When Police Arrived, they found a man who had been shot to death lying in the roadway. Anyone with information is asked to contact concord police. An eightyearold boy is among the people injured in a crash that police say was caused by a drunk driver. Officers say the driver of a white suv ran a red light on list parian boulevard around 10 00 last night. She then tboned the chevy sedan which had a couple and two children inside of it. Eightyearold boy and his father were rushed to the hospital but there may be other injuries. Police say its a miracle no one died in the accident. You can see the intrusion to that side of the car. Its pretty dangerous. And luckily right now there will be no fatalities. Police say the suv driver a woman in her 40s showed obvious signs of intoxication. She was immediately arrested two highway workers recovering. The workers were hit during a lane restriping project on eastbound interstate 80 shortly after 9 00 last night. The chp says the workers were closing down lanes from interstate 80 to highway 12 when they were hit. The chp is warning other drivers to slow down in construction zones. You want people to slow down. Give yourself ample time and space and distance to make any type of maneuver left or right around these vehicles. We have people that need to go home to their families as well. The two road worker were taken to a North Bay Hospital with minor injuries. The driver has major injuries. Oakland police are calling on the city council to buy think radios after another outage last night left officers unable to communicate in the field. It went down for three minutes last night. Its a problem that has plagued the Oakland Police department for years. Oakland city manager says officers will get new radios and the matter should go before the full city council no later than june. Now to our continuing coverage of the deadly bus crash on interstate 5. As part of its process in determining what caused last weeks accident, the chp recreated the conditions leading up to the crash. Yesterday investigators tested two vehicles similar to the fedex truck and bus that collided with one another. It was a reenactment without the actual impact. Cameras were installed of the vehicles to determine the drivers line of vision. And there was a test to determine the speed of the vehicle. Bart service is on schedule hours after a bart train went off the tracks near the North Concord station. News chopper 2 was over the scene. Officials say the train was head into a maintenance yard when it went off the tracks. No passengers were on board. This is the second time a bart train has derailed in the concord area in two months. A derailment back in february caused long delays for hundreds of passengers stranded. The derailment at the North Concord bart station came on the say day that state regulators handed down a 210,000 fine. A cal osha investigation shows bart deliberately violated safety rules and the agencies simple approval policy was simple and not followed. It required work earns to take responsible. The investigation also cited bart for not supervising the trainee. Christopher shepard and Lawrence Daniels were struck and killed by a bart train while inspecting tracks. Cal osha says shepard and daniels were not properly trained to perform work near energized third rails. They were not qualified to be working near a live third rail. As a matter of fact they had an aluminum track gauge which was three feet in length. If that had hit that third rail, it would have elect electrocuted them.
