Van dykes lawyer says the officer opened fire because he feared for his life and those of other mcdonald had a knife. The first of six baltimore Police Officers involved in the death of freddie gray goes to today. Gray died in april, a week after sustaining grave injuries while in the back of a baltimore his death sparked riots in the city. The charges against William Porter include Involuntary Manslaughter and Second Degree assault. All six officers will be tried separately. Prosecutors plan to call porter as a witness against at least two other officers. An online threat has prompted the university of chicago to cancel classes today. School Officials Say the fbi that an unknown posted an online threat of gun violence against the schools campus quad. The School Posted the cancellation alert on its website and sent a l lter to students and facultyleaders called the closing a precaution and urged everyone to avoid coming to campus unless its an emergency. The fbi is continuing to investigate the source and possible motive behind the threat. A bus carrying dozens of college ststents overturned in southern virginia. Police say the bus was carrying 49 passengers from virginia tech, radford university, and the university of virginia when it overturned and was then hit by a car in chesterfield. At least 33 people were hurt. Including one critically. Popoce say the bus was c crying the college studenen from richmond to their various schools. Investigators are working to determine what caused the crash. Omaha police have identified two victims from a shooting that occurred over the weekend. Police say 21yearold Jonathan Johnson died from gunshot wounds saturday at creighton Medical Center. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information should authorities are investigating a shooting that killed one man and injured another in downtown des moines. Des Moines Police say 21 yearold Edmanuel Perez was killed and 23 yearold andrew hurleyboyd was hospitalized. Officers responded to the incident around 1 10 sunday morning in the citys Popular Court avenue district. Polili say investigators are working to locate potential suspects. Carson said that he found a syrian refugee camp in jordan to be quote quite nice, and that people there would rather stay or return home to syria than come to the United States. The first of six baltimore Police Officers involved in the death of freddie gray goes to trial today. Gray died in april, a week after sustaining grave injuries while in the back of a Baltimore Police van. His death sparked riots in the city. The charges against William Porter include Involuntary Manslaughter and Second Degree assault. All six officers will be tried separately. Prosecutors plan to call porter as a witness against at least two other officers. An online threat has prompted the university of chicago to cancel classes today. School Officials Say the university was informed by the fbi that an unknown individual posted an online threat of gun violence against the schools campus quad. The School Posted the cancellation alert on its website and sent a letter to students and faculty. Leaders called the closing a precaution and urged everyone to avoid coming to campus unless its an emergency. The fbi is continuing to investigate the source and possible motive behind the threat. A bus carrying dozens of College Students overturned in southern virginia. Police say the bus was carrying 49 passengers from virginia tech, radford university, and the university of virginia when it overturned and was then hit by a car in chesterfield. At least 33 people were hurt. Including one critically. Police say the bus was carrying the College Students from richmond to their various schools. Investigators are working to determine what caused the crash. Omaha police have identified two victims from a shooting that occurred over the weekend. Police say 21yearold Jonathan Johnson died from gunshot wounds center. A second man, 21yearold nathaniel bailey, suffered nonlife threatening injuries.
