A new poll says donald trump is being outtrumped by a republican rival in iowa. A Quinnipiac University poll of likely Iowa Republican caucusgoers says ben carson now leads the gop president ial field in the state with 28 percent. Trump is second at 20 percent, followed by senator marco rubio at 13 percent and senator ted cruz at 10 percent. This is the first major poll showing trump trailing by a significant margin in an early primary or caucus state since june. A judge has dismissed a lawsuit that challenged the iowa utilities boards authority to give the power of Eminent Domain to an outofstate oil pipeline developer. The Bakken Pipeline would carry crude oil through iowa on its way from north dakota to illinois. The case was argued in Cherokee CountyCourt Earlier this month. Three landowners, filed the suit. They say pipeline developer Dakota Access is not eligible for Eminent Domain to take land because iowans would not benefit from using the pipeline as a utility. Judge Carl Petersen has ruled the plaintiffs administrative remedies before they can sue a state agency. The judge did not rule on whether Dakota Access is eligible for Eminent Domain. The 14th annual tri state governors conference brought together economic, business and political heads to siouxland this afternoon. Iowa Governor Terry branstad, nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts and south dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard spoke to nearly 200 people about how far their states have come economically over the last few years. According to the bureau of labor statistics, in september 2015, nebraska has the Second LowestUnemployment Rate in the nation at 2. 9 percent. South dakota is fifth with 3. 5 percent. And iowa is sixth with a 3. 6 percent Unemployment Rate. Im proud that all three states have been working together on this for a long period of time focus on how weve can have that workforce to meet the needs of the jobs that are being created here in this siouxland area, said branstad.
