Anybody who wants to honor the hotshots have a place to go. It is a memorial start park. I want to show you where this is. We put it in 3d. Right here is the town of yarnell. Actually, still about here. This is where you will be parking off of 89. It will be a little bit of a walk. If i zoom in, you will see just how steep this terrain is. Youre going to walk up to the site where the memorial is, we spin this around. It is about a fourhour hike. It is a sevenmile hike where the memorial will be. This is where the hotshots died in that fastmoving fire more than three years ago. You can park off of 89a if you want to visit the site. The trail to the memorial is a long hike. Courtney griffin was at the unveiling and has the story. Reporter a dedication place this morning to honor the 19 fallen hotshots who sacrificed their lives over three years ago. These 19 men lost their life here and it is important that we honor that sacrifice. Reporter governor doug ducey and the families of the 19 hotshots, the first to view the new memorial. They have done a good job along the trail head calling out each one of the 19 men who lt their life. When you come to the final place, it shows the team work that they demonstrated there. It is just something you have to see to understand. Reporter the memorial includes a sevenmile hike, three miles in is the site where the firefighters died. It is marked by ring steels and stones connected with chains to show unity. They all pass. Reporter they are thankful for the memorial site and the challenging hike, which sheds light on what the hotshots went through. It does not give you the impression that hay had because the undergrowth was 10 feet high before it was burnt. Now, it is relatively clear compared to what they had to clear. Reporter the lone survivor of the hotshot crew says being back at the site where he lost his brothers is emotional. I have different unique memories and it is a great honor to be here and what they have done is truly beautiful. Reporter 19 stone plaques line the trail along with a timeline of what happened. Again, that park opens tomorrow, november 30. It is a sevenmile hike. It will take you about four more weather delays in flagstaff after the storm.
