Police have arrested a man 59yearold mark andress was detained shortly after Police Released the surveillance photo of a person of interest. It showed the man leaving the area of 11 and Market Streets wednesday afternoon where the suitcase was found. After he was interviewed by detectives. He was placed under arrest and booked for murder. Police have not said how the man found in the suitcase died and his identity has not yet been released. And this is the new Mission Bay Medical Center and now house the Childrens Hospital. Womens hospital and Cancer Hospital as those make the transition today. Hospital officials resist making sure no medical issues pop up. Worse possible circumstances. We think we mitd gated that very well and working with the Ambulance Companies and having the medical coverage that we need in the ambulance. And being very prepared both at this end as we discharge the patient and admit them at mission bay. We think we are on top of that. Back out here. Live. These ambulances will take six hours to transfer the 125 patients. 10 other patients will also move from the mount zezion hospital. And zion hospital. Police have arrested a man suspected of a grisly murder involving a headless torso found inside a suitcase in downtown San Francisco. Mark andrus was arrested shortly after a video was released of a person of interest. After he was interviewed by detectives, andrus was arrested and booked for murder. Police have not said how the body found in the suitcase, how it was killed, or where it was killed. The identity has not yet been released. More than two dozen people without a home this morning after are massive fire caused damage to three buildings in San Franciscos alamo square. We have more now on how the blaze spread quickly, causing major damage to a fourth building. Reporter a neighbor alerted her man robinson, who is in a wheelchair. Reporter more than a hundred firefighters fought the blaze that started in a light well in mcallister. It quickly spread up and across to three other buildings. The fire started in that area and spread vertically, and the fire was able to get into those buildings quickly. Reporter it took hours to get the blaze under control. One firefighter was transported to a nearby hospital for knee injury and exhaustion. The red cross aided more than two dozen residents. It has been changing, because its been moving, freeways, things like that. You have a revolution early idea here. Its actually been tried before and come before before the city of oakland before, but the reality, when it comes to car side shows, they have escalated. So not only are they on parking lots, port of oakland, my neighborhood, because i can hear them, they wake you up at 3 00 in the morning, and with the video you just showed is in my neighborhood. So i think one is growing from the neighborhood to the freeways, and we need to try a different strategy. We tried suppression, and it hasnt gotten us very far are, and now the Oakland Police and Highway Patrol dont have the full capacity staffing wise to enforce it. Right now were reaching out for recommendations, and weve met with the port of oakland, Highway Patrol, Oakland Police department is coming before the city council soon. They are considering having thenin them sanctioned having them sanctioned. Outside of the city, i want to get them out of my neighborhood, because thats what my neighbors are demanding. So we need to get and theres some of the organizers, because ive met with some of the young people involved in the side shows, and theyre willing to try that out. So as you mentioned, suppression has not worked over the years, this is going to happen. Its just a question of trying to keep everybody safe and not taking over freeways, as we had just a couple of months ago. So your idea is to move it maybe to a county fairgrounds, to a rodeo grounds, some type of federalty a away from the facility away from the neighborhood. Right. Were way behind schedule, and certainly knot now that we are together, we want to meet with developers are. Its moving fast. Wee behind schedule. So the City Administration has directive to develop with a Development Team to get this going soon. As you look into your crystal ball, do you see both the as and raiders staying in the east bay . I believe theyre going to stay, and i think were going to create not only the environment, but the capacity for them to be successful and get to the super bowl and the playoffs real soon. Lets talk about the new mayor in oakland. What is your sense so far about how things are going to exist in terms of getting along and moving the city forward . Well, shes been in government all her life, so she certainly know house that works, but her biggest test is coming up within the next two weeks, a month, because we have the budget before us, and thats a real test of priorities, where we debate, argue, and challenge each other. A long line of ambulances have been transferring patients from the other facilities to this location. So far theres been no issues, administrators say because theyve practiced and prepared for this day for quite some time. Some of these patients are coming from the mount zion hospital. Most of the 124 patients, though, be coming from the campus where we were earlier this morning. Patients are being transported every four minutes. It will house a womens hospital, Cancer Hospital, so some of those patients are making the transfer this morning. However, the entire Childrens Hospital is now at mission bay, and most of those are new born children, and they are expecting mothers to receive care at an extremely updated facility. First of all, its the first Free StandingChildren Hospital in San Francisco. Six floors dedicated entirely to children. We built it with a child mind in mind, how they react to medicine. Its very, very kid friendly. And currently, were in three floors of an adult hospital, so its a totally different experience for them. Reporter here is one patient arriving at mission bay earlier this morning. Now, this s entire process of moving about 124 patients will take about six hours for the bitter part of the day, and then they have to get situated inside the new facility, but the overwhelming message this morning, the new center opened for business today. Dana is joining us, just back from whistler. What a terrific place. A fabulous place for so many reasons. The skiing and the snowboarding well known. Kind of a given. It has a great, long season. 8,000 acres of skiable terrain. That is given. If your budget allows, you can ski with an olympian, all sorts of things, but everybody doesnt ski, and maybe every now and then you want a break to something else. Peak to peak gondola. Absolutely to talent needed for that. You hop in and go. Ive done this, and the views are spectacular. They are fabulous. This is something if youre not a skier, you often miss out on, because you dont get up on the mountain. This is fabulous. Now, youll be in there with snowboarders and skiers, so expect that, everybody uses this, because it connects. So everybody is on there from sightseers, to snowboarders, to skiers, you can watch from above and see how everybody be is doing, but the views are absolutely phenomenal. We were there in july, and there was still snow, and people were still skiing, which was amazing, but the views are just fantastic. Doesnt matter what time of year. So if you put that into your itinerary, you wont be disappointed. Its a fantastic ride. Cross country skiing. If i can do it, anybody can do it. Thats my mantra. I was little nervous going in. The first half an hour or so, just like learning anything new, you know, in the beginning its learning something new. With me with Cross Country skiing, theres a rhythm there, and once you got that rhythm, i had it down, shuffle, shuffle, glide, dana, shuffle, shuffle, glide. But once you hit that comfort zone, the confidence comes and you really start enjoying it, and enjoying the surroundings around you. Yeah, you look up and say im in a beautiful place. And no one sells with me. And i thats what becomes the key, i think. So its peaceful and quiet, absolutely. What else did you do there . Okay.
