Lets get to the top story this morning. The 49ers waking up in seattle knowing that they could be on the way it the super bowl by the end of the day. Reporting live in seattle this morning is kron4s will tran. Its freezing out here. I have my winter jacket. There is a lot of friction between the 9ers and the seahawks. The 9ers, they just invaded this area here. The fans, they have been here for days now. You can see centurylink behind me. There is so much activity, marty. The game is still eight and a half hours away but there is so much activity in terms of bars. I can hear the music directly across the street. The Police Officers are setting up their last barricades before the fans arrive. There has been so much dedication, hard work, focus that went into getting to centurylink. And i am not talking about the 9ers. I am talking about their fans. Who is going to go . Reporter before the battle on the field there is a battle of bragging rights at the bars. As soon as 9ers fans landed they were ready to show seattle that they are gold blooded. Fantastic having all the support of the fans. 49er nation, baby. Reporter its not hard to get lathered up with the owners of the 9ers is in front of a rally passing out towels. Every place we have been there have been 49ers fans. They may not sell us tickets, but we have lots of fans here. What is your stance on that . What do you think about the seahawks not selling tickets to california . Thats their business. Thats their decision. Not mine. What is it like, the resurgence of the 9ers . Its alive and well in the bay area. We have had rough moments over the last decade or so. Now its on fire. Whats that like . Three nfc championship games. I think were back. It feels good. This is where were supposed to be. Reporter the number of 9ers fans just exploded by the minute, taking over the streets, jamming into the restaurant in seattles popular pioneer square. Seattle police ended up at the restaurant admitting to me they didnt even know about the rally. An officer says they got a call about a minor disturbance involving fans, and thats how they stumbled across it. Keep it classy. Come on. Reporter the fans controlled themselves and had fun, friendly smack talk with hawks fans who were driving by. They say 9ers fans travel well. Really . Was there any question about that . And thats pretty much the way its been for the past several days. Fun, peaceful. You know what . Word of advice to the Seattle Police department. They might want to get a twitter account and follow the 9ers because thats where everybody went to to that bar. Thats why it got so huge so fast and something tells me john york wont have any problems going to centurylink. A lot of people wont go because they could not afford to travel up to seattle. For many of them, they are back, obviously, in the bay area. San francisco. And many of them will be taking off to the stadium where gilley is this morning. Reporter the banners are out. And you can see that people were actually outside of the club just nd spectating either through the doors, because its all there is a there. They are expecting to have even more people out here. This is really big. I know that seattle has really loud fans. I think its going to be so exciting in the bay area that every bar and restaurant is probably going to be packed with fans. Even people who dont regularly watch the game like my husband, he is going to be watching today. So i think its going to be a very loud day here in San Francisco. A 14yearold girl was struck and killed by a vta light rail train on friday. Kron 4 reports. Reporter deputies arent say much about how Danica Garcia died. Instead we are learning more about how she lived and her friends that are suffering from her loss. Friends of 14yearold Danica Garcia are fighting back tears the day after her death. Some are too distraught to appear on camera. She was sweet in that she loved everybody and that she helped everyone. She was a wonderful person. Reporter she was stuck at the intersection of stokes and southwest expressway. A memorial of candles, flowers and teddy bear has assembled on the corner. The same cross streets where danica went to class at Delmar High School. She didnt hear some students were along over here trying to tell her, but she didnt sea nor hear them. Reporter vta spokesperson says danicas death is a sobering reminder for pedestrians to stay alert. Its important not to wear headphones or earbuds near the train because the trains are a lot quieter than you might think and it can be a little bit difficult to hear them coming. Reporter the driver involved in the accident is on paid administrative leave physical the Investigation Complete until the investigation is complete. Danicas friends feel like it was a tragic mistake. Some say she was listening to music with her earphones. Its another spare the air day. Now, as we head into tomorrow and tuesday still going to be warm. Its not until about midweek that things are going cool off a bit. We are also going to see an increase in cloud cover. As for temperatures this morning its pretty cool in napa. 35 degrees there. 28 degrees in santa rosa. 27 degrees in mossad owe right now. Low 30s in concord. 40 degrees in hayward. As we head into the afternoon we are looking at another round of actually, a little bit warmer than yesterday. We could see record breaking temperatures again today. 73 degrees for cupertino. 71 degrees for mountainview. 72 degrees for million peadis. 71 degrees is expected for san jose. Into our east bay we are looking at midtoupper 60s. So 69 is the high for pleasanton, 70 degrees for castro valley. As we head towards the coast we are looking at mid 60s at ocean beach and a mix of 60s and 70s in the north bay. Now, taking a look at the 9ers, were going to call to the 9ers forecast today, in seattle upper 40s dropping down to the mid 40s by 4th quarter. We are expecting partly cloudy conditions. Light winds. Not too bad for the game. As we turn our attention to the sevenday around the bay we are going to continue with the sunny skies, pretty warm temperatures, low 70s and then by wednesday things are going to cool off. We are going to feel the wind speeds pick up which could increase fire danger. Then its going to gradually warm up as we head into the next weekend. Thank you. Back to the news this morning. Residents who evacuated their homes in the Los Angeles Area after a wildfire are now returning home. Red flag warnings of extremely dangerous fire conditions have expired. Officials say that bone dry winter conditions remain a threat, however, for that region. The fire that started thursday burned about three square miles and officials are looking to rehabilitate the burn area in order to prevent erosion and possible mudslides later in the year. Containment is set at 61 right now. Officials say that the fire was caused by three men who recklessly set a campfire. And an update to a story we told you about on saturday morning. A wildfire in the north bay now fully contained. Friday night about 9 p. M. Crews responded to a brushfire in a remote area in the hills above fairfax. That fire spread to trees and burned about one acre of land. But since it was such a rural area no one was injured and there were no damage reported to any buildings. A group in berkeley has been fight to go save the Historic Post Office. Kron 4s jeff pierce shows us why they now have a reason to celebrate. [singing]. Reporter for more than two years local Community Groups in berkeley have been demonstrating in an effort to save the Downtown Post Office to being told to private owners. On saturday they began a 24 hour party to recognize that effort. Today were having a festival of celebration in resistance for all the progress we have made, for all the support weve had, for the fact that this is a national movement. Reporter the progress these groups point to is significant. By expanding the movement to National Efforts to save historical post offices throughout the country they have been able to get congress to act with a clause in the current budget that appears to be moving through the legislative process with bipartisan support. Its part of the budget bill. And they are asking for a moratorium on the sale of the post office. We hope it lasts at least a year. And the u. S. Postal service will be prevented from selling the post office for a year. Especially the Historic Post Offices like our Berkeley Post Office here. Reporter on a local level Berkeley Post Office defense has drafted a zoning overlay and successfully negotiated the first hurdle in the effort it have it enacted into the citys regulations. The Planning Commission passed it and now were going on the 28th we are going to the city council to see if we can pass the zoning. Reporter with overwhelming local support and at least a temporarily congressional reprieve it may be the most effective berkeley protest in years. In berkeley, jeff pierce, kron 4 news. And new for you this morning, the American Postal Workers Union is planning protests at bay area staples stores. Many have Postal Service retail centers. Staples is staffing those centers with nonunion workers who earn little more than minimum wage instead of postal workers who earn about 25 an hour with benefits. The union calls the move a direct assault on postal workers jobs. And still ahead for you on kron 4 news weekend, a Daring Rescue of a woman who fell in the bay as she tried to snap a few photos. But there is so much friction between the two teams. You can see centurylink behind me. Its going to be loud. Not just from seattle fans. Everybody talks about how seattle fans are so loud. Let me tell you, marty, i have been here two days now. The 9ers fans, they have invaded this area. Many of them will be in centurylink once the game starts. We all know how the seahawks would not sell tickets to californians. Get this. I found one guy who is behind a master plan to get him and his friends inside centurylink. Listen up, marty. Not everyone here will get to be here at the game today. For them the bars will be where theyll be watching the battle in seattle. Sitting there between two big old hefty seahawks fans. Reporter knotless three guys. They are all from california and we know how the seahawks didnt sell anyone from california tickets to the game. But this die hard 9ers fan outsmarted the seahawks and got tickets. They were supposed to go on sale at 10 00. So at 9 00 in the morning i called my Credit Card Company and i said can you switch my address to my sisterinlaws sisters boyfriends cousins house in springfield, oregon . If you didnt catch it the first time, dont worry. Neither did i. So i asked him, whose oregon address did you use again . My sisters sisters boyfriends cousins house in springfield, oregon. So, marty, there will be a quiz at the end of the newscast at 9 00 exactly how he got his hands on those tickets. Something tells me, john york, he didnt have to be creative. I think they will have nice seats at the game. During the game San Francisco muni will be making some temporary big but temporary changes. Muni says its learned from previous years that often with big games oftentimes there is violence. You remember these scenes when the giants won the world series. A muni bus was torched. Kron 4 philippe drag all says they dont want a repeat of that. Reporter if you are visiting San Francisco and want a glimpse of these historic streetcars, most more than 100 years old, then you better head out to Market Street before 5 00 sunday evening because thats after that they are going back to their hub until monday morning. The f line typically runs from fishermans war of to the castro along Market Street. On sunday the streetcars will be replaced by diesel or hybrid muni buses. And instead of running on market the f line will be rerouted to Mission Street, making all regular stops. There were issues last year. We are trying to deenergize the trolley vehicles so there is no energy coming out of the wires. There have been cases in the past where people jump on the overheadline vehicles and thats a very dangerous thing. We dont want open wired electricity to come in contact with some of these individuals. We are just taking precautionary measures to make sure that everybody is being safe. Reporter Cable Car Service will change as well. Muni buses will provide service on the california cable car line beginning at 2 in the afternoon through the end of service at 1 00 machine morning monday morning. And to 4 in the afternoon powell street cable car lines will only run between fishermans war of and chinatown and those cable cars will also be replaced with buses. From 22nd avenue well run bus shuttles there as well. And the entire metro line will stay the same for that one particular portion. Reporter that is philippe sha gall reporting. It was a scary moment for a taiwanese tourist who accidentally fell that the bay yesterday. She was snapping some photos on the pier near fort point when she took a misstep. A Good Samaritan jumped into the water to help her but he was unable to keep her head above water and he needed help. Luckily, a trained beach lifeguard was nearby and heard the commotion. I could see from the top of the pier she was foaming out of the mouth. She was taking in water. He was struggling, having difficulty holding her up by himself. Thats when i made the decision to go. He began to rescue the female tourist in the water using pylons and a fishing net and just in time a Coast Guard Boat returned from a Training Mission to help out as well. Shansky got her on to the boat and began doing chest compressions. The tourist was transported to the hospital and she is expected to be okay. Coming up on kron 4 news weekend, this years drought is causing some ski resorts in the sierras to think of others ways to make snow. We will have that story coming up. But the drought may not have a bad effect on everyone in the state. Investigators now looking to folsom lake near sacramento for a plane crash that happened nearby 50 years ago. Well explain. I spend like the whole night. A Royal Caribbean cruise ship has returned to port to miami after dozens of passengers became ill during a fourday trip to the bahamas. Royal caribbean believes a norovirus outbreak is responsible for sickening 66 passengers and two crew members. The ship, the majority of the seas, is now being sanitized. We all got medication. It is scary. I am surprised they didnt notify anybody. Well, this is just the latest incident to affect the cruise industry. You remember that fire on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship last may forced passengers to fly home. An engine fire left a Carnival Cruise ship adrift in the gulf of mexico last february. Taking a look at satellite and radar, High Pressure in place keeping things dry, mild in the bay area. We are going to continue to see that into your extended forecast. Take a take look at the seven day. Wednesday its going to cool off a bit. We have a system approaching. We are not expecting any rain with this. We will see an increase in cloud cover. An increase in winds which could increase fire danger. And then we will see the skies clear as we wrap up your work week. Marty. Thank you, janu. These record Drought Conditions were dealing with are forcing major ski resorts in lake tahoe to consider other options. Resorts are using hightech snowmaking machines since many of the mountain sides are dry and bare. The machines are expensive to run. They require a lot of water and power. And these machines just cant replicate natural snowflakes. But skiers and ski resort operators say the quality of machinemade snow is improving, but small familyowned ski resorts that dont have the expensive snowmaking equipment are suffering and many havent opened yet this season. Farmers in the Central Valley breathing a sigh of relief after the governor declared that drought emergency for the state of california. It means that farmers will be eligible for aid after this record dry year. 2013 was the driest year in california since the state began keeping records back in 1849. The Sierra Snowpack just 17 of normal. The drought is expected to take a toll on Water Quality in the sacramento san joaquin delta. Scientists say less water feeding in from rivers means that water in the delta may become cloudy. The delta is an important source of water for california as water flows through canals in the delta before being diverted to sill vonn valley, the Central Valley and Southern California. Drought conditions have meant bad news for many industries, low water levels have allowed investigators to resume the search for repains of a small plane. That crashed in a lake in folsom nearly 50 years ago. Crews had hoped to find the remains of three people who were on board. Those searchers cant say they found the plane. They didnt leave empty handed. They took many images of various points of folsom lake which theyll use for further analysis. Volunteer divers also set out after talking to relatives of the passengers who are still missing. You could see in their faces when we were talking with them this among that they really want to be able to bring it to an end. Well, unfortunately, even though the water levels are down by quite a bit, the divers said they could barely see anything. The search crews said the fuselage of the plane was badly damaged. Its been sitting underwater for nearly half a century and they are in the sure what shapes they are looking for. They plan it use the images that they took to try to help figure out where to resume the search in the future. Here is stan roberts who found some people behaving badly. Reporter apparently the Seattle Seahawks are not allowing anyone with a california zip code to purchase tickets online to the playoff game. What do the fans think about that . The 49ers waking up into seattle this morning knowing that they could be on the way to the super bowl by the end of the day. The only team preventing the 9ers from going ahead and booking a ticket to the super bowl are the Seattle Seahawks. I got to tell you, obviously, the seahawks, if they do well, there will be a loud roar from the fans. Dont be surprised if the 9ers have a great play and there is also a roar because there is a huge invasion of red and gold u dont believe me . Check this out. Had. Who is going to go . Woo reporter before the battle on the field there is a battle of bragging rights at the bars. As soon as 9ers fans landed they were ready to show seattle that they are gold blooded. This is fantastic having all the support of the fans. 49er nation, baby. Reporter its not hard to get lathered up when the owner of the 49ers, john york, is in front of a 9ers rally passing out towels. Every place we have been there has been 49er fans. So they may not sell us tickets, but we got lots of fans here. Reporter whats your stand from them . What do you think about the seahawks not selling tickets californians . Thats their business. Thats their decision. Not mine. Reporter whats it like, the resurgence of the 9ers . Its alive and well in the bay area. Weve had some rough moments over the past decade or so. Now its on fire. Whats that like . Well, three nfc championship games. I think were back. It feels good. This is where were supposed to be. Reporter the number of 9ers fans just exploded by the minute taking over the streets, jamming into the restaurants in seattles popular pioneer square. Seattle police ended up at the restaurant admitting to me they didnt even know about the rally. An officer says they got a call about a minor disturbance involving fans, and thats how they stumbled across it. Keep it classy. Come on. Reporter the fans controlled themselves and just had fun and friendly smack talk with hawks fans who were driving by. They say 9ers fans travel well. Really . Was there any question about that . So, marty, as you can see, there are thousands of 9ers fans. Many of them will be at the stadium. Others, they didnt get the tickets, but they came to seattle just so they could be near the ballpark at the bars and thats why there is going to be a huge security presence from the Seattle Police department inside the stadium, around the ballpark, and you got to believe this, kick this out, marty, they are incorporating the media. There will be a black hawk helicopter in the air just to keep a surveillance on whats going on as part of the antiterrorism. But also because of this huge game between the 9ers and the seahawks. I got a chance to talk to the Seattle Police department. I asked them is the rivalry playing any role and is that going to force them to step up their works . Heres what they had to say. You know, much has been made about the rivalry. Reporter sure. Did that play a role in how you staffed . Because there is so much heat. Especially down in San Francisco. Its almost fun to hate the seahawks down there. Right. Based on the rivalry, are you going that extra mile to make sure both fans, each side will be safe from each other . We didnt give that any extra consideration. We had this plan in place regardless of who was going to be playing in the championship game. So it turned out to be the 49ers, which i think just is kind of an added bonus to it. But we didnt change our plan because of who were playing. Reporter there is no extra heat . Like they hate us, we hate them so bad, lets have an extra hundred Police Officers to make sure . No. Reporter also, marty, i got to tell you they are incorporating the standard procedure. They will have a lot of seattle Police Officers donning 9ers gear and also some seattle gear just in case any 9ers fans want to cause trouble as well. Theyre ready to go. There are barricades being put up right now as we speak. They just want to make sure that everybody has a great time. Is seattle has it covered. Theyre prepared for this. Lets head back to to San Francisco. We also used it having victories and parades. Lets join my colleague who is in downtown San Francisco to tell us what the city is doing to make sure everyone is safe when the 9ers win. Reporter yeah. Well, you know, San Francisco, you know, fans enthusiasm turns into vandalism. So theyre going to try to at least prevent or at least minimize some of the damage. Lets show you some video of like when the giants won, how crazy the city got where people were attacking muni and doing damage to munis. Is one of the thing that the muni company is doing now is they are going to switch out their buses that are electrical. The electricalrun mahnimi buses will muni buses will be switched out with regular buses. The f line will be replaced with the regular bus and thats because of not only minimizing the cost of damage on those type of vehicles, but also because its dangerous. Its just dangerous. They are hooked up to electrical lines. Peep were climbing on those people were climbing on those buses last time. So they really want to make it safe for people if they do get crazy and they want to jump on the bus. At least they wont get electrocuted. But they are definitely trying to change those things. Another thing that they are changing is the cable car. The cable car will not run after 2 00. So if you are a visitor here in San Francisco and you want to get on the cable car because you only have today, you want to try to do that in the morning because starting at 2 00 thats when theyre going to shut down that line. Anybody else who is trying to catch the f line, if you come back live to me, you can see this is the f line bus, this is what you are going to be catching. You are not going to be on the electric rail bus. You are going to be on one of these regular buses. So thats what you should be looking out for. And of course we know that police will be stepping up also their reinforcements once the game is over, just patrolling the streets to make sure that people are safe. Will. Reporter okay. Mid 60s at the coast today and a mix of 60s and 70s in the north bay. Taking a look at your sevenday around the bay, its showing us we will continue to see dry conditions in the bay area. Lots of sunshine. 70s on the board until about wednesday. We will see an increase in cloud cover and feel those wind speeds pick up increasing fire danger. Social anxiety stems from fear of being judged or evaluated by others, and many of us have that fear. Most of us are not clinically diagnosed. We call it simply being nervous. But its especially prevalent when a big opportunity is on the line or a career expert joins us this morning with a few tips on how to calm those nerves especially in the clutch. So, kim, how do you prevent worrying about what other people are thinking of you, especially when it comes down to a Job Interview . I think it comes down to practice. Its basically being able to, you know, communicate who you are, what you know, what you do and maybe what you want to do more effectively and make it almost as if its muscle memory. Its purely habit. Athletes practice. How would the 49ers gotten to the playoffs . A lot of practice. If you are going into a big Job Interview, scour the web, look for questions key to your industry. Guaranteed other people have been in your same position before, right . Yes. Have your friends and family look at your resume and come up with questions and practice answering those questions in front of the mirror. If you can look yourself in the eye you can pretty much almost look anyone in the eye. So practice and it sounds like its a little bit more than just a conversation. Just trying to have a conversation with another person . Well, surprisingly, even people get nervous. You know, in just oneonone every day conversations. And thats not just about a fear of being evaluated or being judged. Its a fear of what am i going to say next . We have all been there, done that, right . So i have a little exercise that i do. I have something that you can stick in your back pocket that you can use in any conversation and its a phrase. Its just speaking up. And how it works is lets say someone says to me, well, yesterday i was out at the beach and i was walking my dog and it was just absolutely gorgeous outside. To which i would respond, well, actually speaking of dogs, i have a pomeranian. I see. And i love, you know, playing with my pomeranian. The only thing is, you know, he takes a lot of grooming. Well, speaking of grooming, well, there is a new salon that opened up around the street. There are different ways you can do it even in an interview situation. If you ask the employer or potential employer well, what are you looking for in a potential employee . They say the right skill set. The perserverance. Determinations. Speaking of determination. What about you . What are you doing this afternoon . I think i might watch that game that everybody seems it be talking about. I think i will be by the tv. Speaking of the big game, actually, i am heading up to winter wineland in Sonoma County and three of the wineries are having big screens so you can watch the game while you are drinking wine. You are latching on to what that person says. It also shows you are listening and paying attention. It does. And having that followup will make it so you will pay attention. What about if you are in a networking situation . I know a lot of people, myself included, feels awkward in a situation like that where you are having to make chitchat or small talk. The Biggest Issue that i feel people have in terms of getting nervous in networking situations or conversations is literally just having an agenda. Going in and saying, well, i expect this to come out of it. If you go in with a relaxed attitude you are less apt to feel like you have to live up to some sort of standard. Lets say you are going, you know, if you are lucky enough to go to a democratic fundraiser and you go in saying i am going to meet president obama and you see that break in the crowd and, you know, you have that opportunity to go give a happened shake to president obama, well, you blow off his chief of staff in the meantime because you didnt realize you were talking to him and guess who schedules president obama . Right. So go in with less of an agenda . Right. And with the intention of just enjoying the moment. Embrace the moment. You are more apt to making those connections and building those relationships with people. I guess another way to say that would be to lower your expectations in Something Like that . Right. Honestly, embracing the moment. And if all that fails, we have had great tips. If all else fails . The chocolate love potion. Tell us about that. What does that do . So i have a friend who is a breathing expert. I just found out that a breathing expert . A breathing expert. He also is a little bit more holistic and he focuses on herbal remedies. Normally i am not into this voodoo holistic thing. But this work. The chocolate love potion is geared towards people who have anxiety in the bedroom. But anxiety is anxiety, right . So bedroom anxiety [no audio] basically, this is filled with amazing herbs and flowers and chocolate. A rare cant go wrong there. Right. Its uplifting of the mood and has a revered blue lotus flower, which is all about increasing intuition, up lifting the mode. Holy basil which is about centering and grounding yourself. You can take a look at this cellphone video in which you see an undocumented worker being held down by two Border Patrol agents when one of them suddenly begins hitting the undocument the immigrant in the head repeatedly and kneeing him in the stomach. Some Officials Say it doesnt seem like he is resisting, however, but the Border Patrol responds that in the video you arent able to see the workers hands where they say he continued to resist. President obama is trying to make things right with germany following the Edward Snowden spying leaks. On saturday the president went on German Television to say that he will not let spying damage americas relationship with germany. Last year there were reports that the nsa spied on European Union citizens and german chancellor merkles cellphone. President obama promised the german people that the u. S. Will not wiretap them. Developing news this morning, another possible scandal involving new jersey governor Chris Christie. The mayor of hoboken, new jersey, says the Governors Office withheld millions of dollars in Hurricane Sandy relief because she would not approve a commercial development that the governor wanted. Governor Christies Office is denying that claim. This comes during an investigation into whether christies aides ordered lanes shut down on the George Washington bridge as political payback against another mayor who did not support christies reelection. And dont always believe what you hear at the other end of the phone. Thats what the state Supreme Court is saying after they heard about a new tactic tricking people into wiring money. A con artist calls and says that they are from the San Francisco Sheriffs Department and that a Family Member didnt respond to a grand jury summons. To clear it up they say to wire money or the Family Member will be arrested. Sfpd is currently investigating and the Supreme Court stresses they would never call the public asking for money. They had a link to where you could access the tickets on ticketmaster. I got three tickets for us and punched in the address. An hour later at 11 00 in the morning i switched my address back to the bay area. Reporter so there it is. He outsmarted the Seattle Seahawks. He changed his credit card. It lasted an hour. He is confident everything is back to normalnd a he is getting ready to go to the game in a couple of hours from now. Your reaction . I mean, he changed his address. A little upset by that . Muni will be making big but temporary changes. Muni saying it learned its less on from previous years. When the San Francisco giants won the world series back in 2012 the muni bus was torched, as you remember. The Transportation Agency says it doesnt want a repeat of that. So the f line will be rerouted to Mission Street and Cable Car Service will change as well. Muni buses will be providing service on the california cable car line through 2 this afternoon through the end of service 1 00 monday morning. Also going to see increase in cloud cover midweek. Temperatures off to a chilly start in santa rosa. 29 degrees there. 37 degrees in novato. 50 degrees currently in daily city. 46 Half Moon Bay and upper 30s in santa rosa. As we head into the afternoon 70s for the south bay. 73 redwood city. 72 expected for campbell. We are looking at mid 60s along the delta today. Upper 60s through livermore, pleasanton. 69 degrees for san leandro. Richmond topping out at 71 degrees today. We are looking for mid 60s at the coast today and a mixed bag of 60s and 70s for the north bay. 70 degrees the high for santa rosa. 68 degrees for petaluma. Taking a look at satellite and radar, we still have High Pressure in control keeping any storm track far to the north. So dry conditions continue in the bay area. Gabe slate kron 4 news. There was a scary moment for a taiwanese tourist who accidentally fell into the bay. She was taking some photos at the pier near fort point when she took a misstep and accidentally fell in. A Good Samaritan jumped into the water to help her but was unable to keep her head above water and he needed help. Luckily, a trained beach lifeguard was nearby and heard the commotion. I could see from the top of the pier she was foaming out of the mouth. She was taking in a lot of water. He was struggling, having difficulty holdinger had up by himself. Thats when i made the decision to go. Shansky began to rescue the female tourist in the water using pylons and a fishing net. Just in time, though, a coast guard bolt was returning from a boat was returning from a Training Mission and zoomed over there and shansky got her on to the boat and began doing chest compressions. The tourist was trapted to the hospital and she is expected to be okay. Record Drought Conditions are forcing major ski resorts in lake tahoe to consider other options. So some resorts are using hightech snowmaking machines since many of the mountain sides remain dry and bare. The machines are very expensive to run. They require a lot of water and power and they just cant replicate the natural snowflakes. But some skiers and ski resort operators say the quality of the machinemade snow is improving. However, small familyowned ski resorts that dont have the snow making equipment are suffering. Many havent opened up yet this season. Farmers in the Central Valley breathing a sigh of relief this weekend after Governor Brown declared a drought emergency for the state of california. That announcement means that farmers will be eligible for aid after this record dry year. 2013 was the driest year in california since the state began keeping records in 1849. And the Sierra Snowpack is just 17 of normal. The drought is expected to take a toll on Water Quality in the sacramento san joaquin delta. Scientists say less water feeding in from rivers means water in the delta may become cloudy and brachish. The delta an important source of water for the state. Janu, thank you. Lets get to the top story this among. The 9ers waking up in seattle this morning knowing they could be on the way to the super bowl by the end of the day. Reporter well, marty, i know how tough it is because i am surrounded by enemies. You can see this is a bar thats alive and well. It opened up at 6 00 in the morning and so far i have not ot seen one 9ers fan [ inaudible ]. If you have family and friends in seattle right now, text them. Tell them to come down here to the lodge grill because i need some company because, as you can see, it is filled with hawks fans. They are ready to go. I got to tell you, if they lose today they will need some counseling because the seahawks, it seems like they have moved all of their chips to the middle of the table. If they lose, definitely theyll be sleepless in seattle. We all know how the seahawks tried to make sure that there would be no californians in the game. Well, guess what . I found thousands of 9ers fans in seattle. Check this out. Who is going to go 9ers reporter before the battle on the field there is a battle of bragging rights at the bars. As soon as 9ers fans landed they were ready to show seattle that they are gold blooded. This is fantastic having all the support of the fans. 49er nation, baby. Reporter its not hard to get lathered up when the owner of the 49ers, john york, is in front of a 9ers rally passing out towels. Every place we have been there has been 49er fans. So they may not sell us tickets, but we got lots of fans here. Reporter what is your stand on that . What do you think about the seahawks not selling tickets to californians . Thats their business. Thats their decision. Not mine. Reporter whats it like, the resurgence of the 9ers . I mean, its alive and well in the bay area. Weve had some rough moments over the past decade or so, and now its on fire. Whats it like . Well, three nfc championship games. I think were back. It feels good. This is where were supposed to be. Reporter the number of 9ers fans exploded by the minute taking over the streets, jamming into the restaurant in seattles popular pioneer square. Seattle police ended up at the restaurant admitting to me they didnt even know about the rally. An officer says they got a call about a minor disturbance involving fans, and thats how they stumbled across it. Keep it classy. Come on. Reporter the fans controlled themselves and just had fun and friendly smack talk with hawks fans who were driving by. They say 9ers fans travel well. Really . Was there any question about that . Marty, you said that 9ers fans travel well. If you are a 9ers fan, travel and come down here because i need your company. So far, i mean, you see how loud it is. Its been peaceful. There are Police Officers all over seattle. Not just the Seattle Police department, but also surrounding counties. They have come in to help. Get this, marty. Even the military is helping out. They have a black hawk helicopter in the air for the past week. One for antiterrorism, and, two, just to keep a close eye on the activities on the ground. Now, i got a chance to talk it to the Seattle Police department. I asked them is this rivalry playing any role in increased efforts to make sure everyone is safe . Heres what they had to say. Much has been made about the rivalry. Did that play a role in how you staffed . Because there is so much heat, especially down in San Francisco. I mean, its almost fun to hate the seahawks down there. Right. Reporter based on the rivalry are you going that extra mile to make sure both fans, each side will be safe from each other . We didnt give that any extra consideration. We had this plan in place regardless of who was going to to be playing in the championship game. So it turned out to be the 49ers, which i think just is kind of an added bonus to it. But we didnt change our plan because of who were playing. Reporter there is no extra heat . Like they hate us. We hate them so bad. Lets have an extra hundred Police Officers to make sure . No. Reporter and, marty, i got tell you i just dont know. You see all these seahawks fans behind me . One of them could be an undercover officer and that seems to be standard procedure. Some officers wear 9ers gear to make sure that the seahawks fans are kept in check, and also some of them are wearing seahawks jerseys just to make sure that the 9ers fans dont get out of control. So far everything is safe. Its been a fun time. Lots of smack talking. But its been fun, friendly. So thats what is going on in seattle. What is San Francisco to make sure everyone is safe when the 9ers win . For that lets head back to San Francisco and join my colleague. How are things looking . Reporter well, right now its all quiet. But there are several things that the city is doing to, you know, try to keep it in check in case the 9ers when the 9ers win that people dont go crazy because its been in the past where fans enthusiasm has turned into vandalism. One of the things they are doing is the cable cars. They are going to stop running cable cars at 2 00 today. In fact, if you are in town and this is the only thing you want to see, you might want to get on one of these before 2 00 because you wont be able to ride them until tomorrow morning on monday. And thats just because in case people start getting crazy, they dont want these cable cars to get damaged. Its very costly to it try to repair them. So, you know, they are just going it try to take them out of commission. Thats not the only thing they are going to take out of commission. Some of the electric lines like the f line, they are taking those out. In fact, lets show you some video of how muni got attacked in one of the last victories. This is why they are concerned. You see in the video people were jumping on the bus. In fact, they even put one bus on fire. So, you know, its just very hazardous not only to the driver, but even some of the fans who ended up jumping on those buses because they have electricity, electric rods through the cables and stuff, and that could be very hazardous. Somebody could get injured very severely or even die. So they are going to take those kinds of lines out. They are going to replace it with motor vehicles. You know, some of the hybrid vehicles so that people can still get around in the city, but its not going to be with the regular bus line that theyre used to seeing. And i just got off the phone with one of the Mission Police station. Now, the Mission District has been vandalized plenty of times under some of these victory games. So they definitely have stepped up their patrols around there. In fact, they said they have some patrols around the bart stations. They dont usually have that. They usually leave it up to the bart police. But they have some of the extra patrol cars around and they will definitely be watching out and making sure that fans have fun and not get too crazy, that they start destroying our lovely city. So they really have stepped up their game for today because we all are counting on the 9ers winning today. Will. Reporter sounds like San Francisco is ready to go. Seattle is ready to go. So both cities, they are just waiting for kickoff. Palo alto police are asking for the publics help of a man accused of exposing himself. Police say the man drove away after a woman knocked on his window and yelled at him to leave. The suspect, according to police, is 30 to 35 years old, of middle eastern orla tino descent and unshaven. He was wearing a striped shortsleeve tshirt and jeans at the time. Police have arrested another man for stabbing one man for stabbing another man in San Francisco. The stabbing happened this morning in the embarcadero in folsom. The 26yearold was taken to the hospital. We will have more on that story as we learn it from the hospital. We are going to talk political headlines this morning from the drought in california to another problem of accusations of misuse of funds across the country in new jersey. Joining us to talk about that is our political analyst michael yaki. We were talking during the break how when talking about the drought seems like Governor Brown deja vu all over again . I remember when i came out to california the first thing i noticed was there was no water on the table. I discovered i landed if the middle of a drought. Of course, i was in grade school. Preschool by that time. But its interesting because here we go again except with one major difference. Our population has doubled since then and thats going to have an enormous impact because its not only how you get water to the crops and other things that make up so much of the california economy. Remember we produce half the nations fruits and vegetables and nuts. Anyway, so the fact is that there is going to be possible inflation there. How do you deal with that . Then you have to deal with the other issue of how do you get water for all the different people in northern and Southern California . And, you know, you have all the jokes about the sheriffs. But its really much more important than that. Yeah. And that brings up talk again about some way it transport water from the north of the state to the south of the state. Back then they were talking about the peripheral canal. Now its kind of a tunnel system. Its the delta tunnel system again. And in a lot of ways it seems to make sense. You have to have you need to figure out a way to distribute water better in the state than it currently is right now than sort of the gamble on what the snowpack is here or there. At the same time i think its pointed out by a lot of commentators that popularity of trying to do that right now, taking water from one area to another in a drought time, people end to get crazy about that. The last time this went up on the ballot again during a drought period in 1982 it failed miserably. We will see if the governor has the ability to push this through. Lets go ahead and look at new jersey because Chris Christie seems to be in hot water. Speaking of pushing through. Yet again. Or not pushing through. Here we have a situation where the mayor of hoboken has come forward and said basically that we were denied all the sandy relief because i wouldnt support an Economic Development project that the governor and one of the rockefellers wanted across the water from new york city. Thats something that is going to be looked at. There are subpoenas being issued. Its become the rage on the chat shows and it feeds into the christie as bully methodology. Was always under the table but exploded with the bridge and now here you are denying people money in your state on pure political whims. On a microlevel i have seen that happen myself. On an issue of Disaster Relief unprecedent nd and the kind of thing that does not go well with voters. It makes people think, whats next . I think the question is going to be, you know, if the guy were president how would he treat you . If you didnt toe the line on Chris Christie, how would he treat you and your entire community . Reporter if you didnt catch it the first time, dont worry. Neither did i. So i asked him, whose oregon address did you use again . My sisterinlaws sisters boyfriends cousins house in springfield, oregon. Reporter and i guy you never met . Never met him. Reporter those would who did not do that were forced to go through other sites to get their tickets. 9ers owner john york didnt have much to say about the seahawks ticket policy. Back to this guy. In case youre wondering, after he got those tickets he also got his old california address back. Yeah, i went on Seattle Seahawks website. They had a link to where you could access the tickets on ticketmaster. I got through. Got three tickets for us. And punched in the address. An hour later at 11 00 in the morning i switched my address back to the bay area. Reporter so there you have it, marty. He just got really creative. He says it was a nobrainer. Muni will be making some big but temporary changes today. Muni is saying that it learned from previous years that with big games often comes violence, as you take a look at this photo from 2012 when the giants won the world series. You remember that muni bus was torched. The Transportation Agency does not want a repeat of that. Reporter if you are visiting San Francisco and wanted to get a glimpse of these historic f line streetcars, most more than 100 years old, then youd better out to Market Street before 5 00 sunday evening because after that theyre going back to their hub until monday morning. The f line typically runs from Fishermans Wharf to the castro along Market Street. On sunday the streetcars will be replaced by diesel or hybrid muni buses and instead of running on market the f line will be rerouted to Mission Street making all regular stops. What were trying to do is deenergize the trolley vehicles so there is no energy coming out. Other head wires. There have been ways in the past where people jump on top of the overhead line vehicles and thats a dangerous thing. We dont want electricity, open wired electricity to come in contact with some of these individuals and were just taking precautionary measures to make sure that everybody is being safe. Reporter Cable Car Service will change as well. Muni buses will provide service on the california cable car line beginning at 2 in the afternoon through the end of service at 1 00 monday morning. And from 4 in the afternoon powell street cable car lines will only run between Fishermans Wharf and chinatown and those cable cars will also be replaced from buses. From 22nd avenue well run bus shuttles there, as well. And the entire metro line will be the same for that one particular portion. Well, games like this are very big business for the betting houses in las vegas. The Vice President of a sports book says he expects a lot of cash to be flowing through. He says the popularity of the teams involved in the two games today are sure to add up to extra dollars at the betting booths. Maurice cooper is one of those betters. Whats made them so upset . We will explain after the break. And cellphone video thats causing a controversy. Why Border Patrol workers say video of an undocumented worker being held down doesnt tell the whole story. And the latest awards show and the run up to the oscars. New this morning the American Postal Workers Union is planning protests at bay area staples stores. Many of the stores now have Postal Service retail centers. Staples is staffing those centers with nonunion workers who earn a little more than minimum wage instead of postal workers who earn about 25 an hour with benefits. A group in berkeley has been fight to go save their Historic Post Office for more than two years. Local Community Groups want to save the Downtown Post Office from being sold to private owners. On saturday they began a 24hourlong party to recognize their effort. The group has been able to get congress to act. A new bill appears to be moving through the legislative process with bipartisan support. It is part of the budget bill. They are asking for a moratorium on the sale of the post office. We hope it lasts at least a year. And the u. S. Postal service will be prevented from selling the post offices for a year, especially the Historic Post Offices like our Berkeley Post Office here. On a local level the Berkeley Post Office defense has successfully negotiated the first hurdle to save the post. A congressional reprieve may add up to the most effective protest in years. Now lets take a look at a video causing controversy. Its cellphone footage that you see an undocumented worker being held down by two Border Patrol agents. One of them begins hitting the man in the head repeatedly and kneeing him in the stomach. Border patrol says what the video doesnt sow is the undocumented worker striking the agent several times before he was pinned down. Some Officials Say it doesnt seem like he is resisting, but the Border Patrol responds that in the video you arent able to see the workers hands where they say he continued to resist. As for your temperatures this morning still in the mid 30s in santa rosa, but already in the 50s in novato. About 48 degrees currently in san mateo and low 40s in livermore. As we head into the afternoon were looking at mainly 70s in the south bay. 3 degrees for sunny bail. 73 santa clara. We are looking at mid 60s along the delta today. Upper 60s through livermore, pleasanton, 68 degrees expected for those of you in walnut creek. 68 trees for downtown San Francisco. 66 for those of you in daily city and a mix of 60s and 70s for the north bay. 65 degrees expected for novato. 70 degrees for those of you in santa rosa. Now taking a look at satellite and radar, you can see the Bigger Picture here. High pressure in control. So you can see thats pushing any storm track well to the north of us keeping things dry here for the bay area. And you can see just that on the kron 4 sevenday around the bay. We are expecting lots of sunshine into the next week with temperatures above normal for this time of year, and then it looks like a little bit of a cooldown by midweek. This show, who is going to win the os certificates . The sag awards do show something because he a these are the actors voting for actors. Thats the biggest block in the academy. So you really can get a sense of who has a very good chance to win. But people sure ed good. Kate blan shet absolutely gorgeous. Oh, expect this dress was weird. This pink dress was weird. It looks great from the shoulder up. But it has this weird kind of oh, yeah. Reporter a strange little bib thing going on r. Whats going on in the front there . Reporter i knew i would get you to talk fashion. Its really it was really interesting. And, you know, it is a time of hollywood glamor. This is a time when people get to bring it all out, men and women. So you think lupita, lupita is quite amazing. Lupita nyongo, who won the award last night from 12 years a slave, and she looked so gorgeous. But youre a professor, marty. She did mention her school, the yale school of drama. I thought that was great to hear how they study. Helen mirans gown, what do you think about that . I like she dresses well for, you know, an older woman. She and emma thompson, they really seem to dress well for older women. I like the way helen miran looks. It was a little too stiff for me. I would like to have seen something a little cuisinier. But it looks better than meryl streep. I mean, that girl has to fire her, you know, dresser because she just looked awful always. One of the highlights last night was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement award to rita more even he. I know. And she has been on aristate and we have done lots of interviews with her. And she started singing. Yes, she did, twice. Not once, but twice. I know. It was weird. It was almost like she was auditioning for a singing gig. I would prefer she talk about her life and i really recommend people to read her book. This is a woman who had some very serious things happen to her in hollywood. A suicide. An almost rape. I mean, this woman has been through it. So i was glad to see her get that award from morgan freeman, her old friend from the electric company. Watching the clip last night of them together on pbs was fantastic. It was because you got the friendship and the love for each other. Exactly. Exactly. So could you think that had this really does that this does predict what is going to happen at the oscars . I do. This is the award that i do think that. I mean, its also an award that i vote for. I also vote for Directors Guild and critic awards. This is the award that i think who says has a good chance of winning. That is matthew mcconaughey. Definitely. He won last night. He also won a week ago. Thats exactly right. You know, Everybody Loves to see transition. Yeah. And in this movie he does such transition from being a redneck disgusting hateful homophobe to suddenly realizing what life is about. Its a huge transitional acting performance. He gives an acceptance speech that is so full of energy. Doesnt he remind you of remember Burt Lancaster in elmer begantry . Yeah, thats a great compare son. He reminds me of that kind of guy who is really giving it to you, you know . Really making you feel something. Yeah. And just watching him bound up the stage with that electric smile and all. And then the speech as well. Yeah. And he is very popular within the academy, within his colleagues. Very popular. And then michael douglas, another popular one. Yes. Who i have a feeling, you know, kirk douglas is 97. And you could see that he was talking about his father kirk and that was special. That was a very moving speech. How he also thanked matt damon for delaying production of that film for a year while douglas was battling throat cancer, thats right. And that movie should have been on the big screen. That was an incredible film. Yeah. So all in all while there werent a lot of surprises it still was an entertaining evening. It was. Absolutely. Especially when you get television mixed up with film. Then you get the whole thing. And that made it a lot of fun. And they moved it along. It wasnt that long. It was two hours rather than four hours. Right. And we always like that.
