A rally was held today just outside of la school. Ahead of tonights School Board Meeting our conference. Taylor has the story. Is the ultimate trespassing on our education system. Outraged, upset and disappointed. Oakland, unified families and teachers are protesting recent decisions by the School District may at the continuing. You know, reckless miss of this School District that thats supposed to be defending Public Schools. The supposed to be all about Public Education that has been acting 2 private eyes, Public Schools closing them, you know, under resourcing and are supporting them and then closing them, finding ceases to close them and then turn it over to private country. Craig gordon is in oakland education association, representative. And a longtime educator in the city. However, as of monday, hes now a former substitute teacher. He says he was wrongfully fired out of retaliation after you join protesters occupying parker elementary on thursday who want to keep the school open. This is video from that day when Security Officers tried to get them very aggressive and very violent towards. So the people who are in their heart entry is one of dozens of schools in oakland, unified plans to close or merge over the next 2 years. Many people have joined the fight to keep their doors open, saying the closures will negatively impact students of color district should be, you know. A change of what it is to attack the rights students and families in the city and protect the group is now calling for School District leaders to stop retaliation and immediately reverse the decision to terminate teachers who spoke out against the closures, not going to back down and were not going to let them intimidate us. Authorities are investigating a rape on stanfords campus happened sometime after 5 oclock in the evening on tuesday in a parking lot near wilbur hall. The crime was later reported to Campus Security about 8. 30, when a mandated reporter notified Stanford Department of Public Safety that an adult woman reported she had been sexually assaulted by a man. She did not know anyone who may have information about this incident is being asked to call the Stanford Department of Public Safety. Attacked near uc berkeleys law school tonight, Campus Police are looking for the person who got violent early this morning. Police say a man tried to assault another person. The piece of scrap metal to the parking lot near the law school when the attacker lifted the metal over his head. The victim quickly got into his car. The suspect then hit the victims car with the metal before taking off. Police describe the suspect only as a man about 6 feet tall, 30 years old wearing a turquoise shirt and multicoloured former 40 niner star running back frank. According to Court Documents from new jersey. The incident happened july 31st between gore and a 28 yearold woman at an Atlantic City hotel. According to the complaint, gore forcibly gripped the woman by her hair before violently dragging her naked along the hallway floor. Police came to the hotel lobby at 08 00am but did not make an arrest because the woman did not show signs of injury. But days later charged the 39 yearold football star with simple assault legal analyst Stephen Clark explains why the da was looking at is the fact that there was no visible injury. And its also possible they looked at his lack of any prior criminal history and other factors that led them to file. This is a misdemeanor as opposed to a felony. The Alameda County department of Public Health is keeping an eye on the waters along the oakland and alameda estuaries. The city of oakland is warning people of harmful algae bloom at lake merritt over the weekend. Oakland public works received the report of brownish, red water near the 1200 to 1400 blocks of lakeshore avenue assigned a toxin could be present back in may. It was determined that low levels of the contaminant. Were in the area harmful algae blooms can produce toxins that are dangerous to humans and animals and cause Health Issues like a rash and eye irritation. On wednesday, brown water could be seen in alameda. This woman walking her pet says she is not worried about the conditions. Im not swimming. Just another crisis. Harmful algal bloom is generally form by bacteria that multiply as the water gets warmer. Public works. Staff is requesting Property Owners around lake merritt to avoid over irrigating their lawns to prevent excess nutrients from entering the waterways. But otherwise skies staying clear. All right. Weve had that low Pressure Center off the coastline, spinning bringing that southerly flow. Now its moved further north. Now off the coast of washington and oregon. So, yeah, things will start to shift gears for us a little bit. But the monsoon continues. It just move a little further to the east today. In fact, the battle really getting pounded by some heavy storms. You see all those lightning strikes even now just to the east of reno and continue to see some very heavy rainfall across much the states. Theres were going to see a very heavy rain all the way in Las Vegas Area watching for the possibility of some flooding there. Some flash flooding continuing until a 12 oclock on thursday. And so theyre not the only ones. Weve had some heavy rainfall in nye county. Theyre just the north, the area and raya and shaded in red Flash Flood Warning in effect there. See theyre seeing flooding right now or theyre going to very soon. Weve seen some of the thunderstorms producing over an inch and a half a brain. Theyre so taking a back out in the bay area. Overall, though, heres the trend that low Pressure Center continues to lift to the north. High pressure begins to build its way out of the 4 corner states back in the bay area. And that is going to start crank up the temperatures just slowly at first as we head through the weekend. But day after day, those numbers are really going to start to come up getting hot. Many of the interior valleys, air quality, looking very good. All in green, all around the bay area right now, likely to stay that way again for tomorrow. As it looks like weve got enough of the sea breeze to keep our air quality moving along. Pretty good. Youve got a good air quality in the north bay, the coast, the east bay and the south bay temperatures. How about that . The numbers going to start to get hot inland. Youre in the 90s tomorrow in places like concord in possibly lot more to 70s navies around the bay warm 60s co side starting out some fog in the morning giving way to sunshine, though, out toward the beaches next couple days. The temperatures do start to warm up as we get the weekend. Well, as we look toward next week, we could be talking about triple digit heat by next wednesday. Thanks. Lourdes monkeypox cases are quickly rising in contra costa county. The first confirmed case of monkeypox is reported a month ago. By august first, that number had slowly increase to 4 cases. But as of now Costa Health Services say they are. 31 confirmed cases and the county and 13 more suspected cases and much like the rest of the bay area. The demand for a vaccine is higher than the available supply contra costa countys Public Health director says the county is receiving 10 times fewer vaccine doses for monkeypox from the state compared to San Francisco and 3 times fewer than Alameda County, the population and confirmed cases for both of those counties, sir, higher than contra costa. But Public Health Officials Say they are committed to cooperation when it comes to slowing the spread. We along with many other bay area counties are vaccinating people as long as they meet the high priority group. They dont have to be a resident pocket cost the county. So we urging Committee Members if theyre eligible the tri multiple that says their chance of being vaccinated time. The county intends to make online vaccination Appointments Available later this month. But for now, it is in the process of notifying people at high risk to book an appointment. A federal judge just ruled today that walgreens can be held responsible for contributing to San Franciscos opioid epidemic. Yeah, its a huge pharmacy chain and the judge referred to what he called walgreens 15 year failure saying that that chain gave out highly addictive drugs without proper oversight ruling that walgreens did nothing about identifying or reporting suspicious orders, which is required by law between 2006 2020, the pharmacy distributed more than 100 million prescription opioid pills in San Francisco alone. The judge said that opioid conditions have overwhelm City Hospitals and data shows that between 2015 2020, there was a 478 spike in opioid related deaths. City attorney david chiu says that walgreens continually ignored what it was supposed to do. As San Franciscos largest prescriber, prescription rates. Walgreens did not flag suspicious do not get their pharmacist time to due diligence, pharmacists, for pressure to fill phil phil. And as a result, well, flood are over us. But opponents argue would lead to more drunk drivers and dangerous streets if signed into law, the bill would not take effect until 2025. A local guy was out on his standup paddleboard with his dog when all of a sudden a shark attack them. You are looking at bite marks left by a shark.
