the police chief is explaining how bullet fragments from celebratory gunfire hit 5 people at the stadium and it turns out now they're saying a 6th victim actually reached out to the police yesterday, but we don't know the extent of their injuries. one person is dead hit by a caltrain train in mountain view. it happened last night at the san antonio caltrain station about 50 people were on board the train at the time. none of them was hurt. but this person was struck and killed. it is a caltrans 5th fatality of the year. >> a 9 year-old boy who was crash last month has died from his injuries. a gofundme page that was set up for his family says that julian navy's of dixon died this past wednesday. he and 3 others lost their lives when an amtrak train smashed into a car on june. 26th, it was an unincorporated brentwood. that accident also killed 3 women, including the boy's mother and grandmother. all the victims are in the car. nobody on the train was hurt. to the south bay now where sunny balwani the former president of theranos has been found guilty of defrauding patients and investors and now faces up to 20 years in prison. crawford's charles clifford recap what happened in court. >> ms bell one e the former coo of theranos has been found guilty of 12 counts of defrauding investors and patients. he now faces potentially decades in prison. thursday afternoon, ramesh balwani walked out of federal court in san jose. but his time as a free man is coming to an end moments earlier, a jury found that one guilty of 10 counts of federal wire fraud and 2 counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. he showed little emotion as the verdicts were read. now faces up to 20 years in prison. >> his conviction comes 6 months after former theranos ceo elizabeth holmes was also found guilty of 3 counts of criminal wire fraud. and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. both holmes and balwani were accused of defrauding investors and misleading patients by claiming that their company theranos had created blood test that could quickly diagnose a variety of ailments. in reality, the company's tests were unreliable following thursday's verdict, stephanie hines, the united states attorney for the northern district of california, said she believed that justice had been served. we are gratified. by the jury's hard work and a 10 and f to the evidence percent. we bay, charles clifford kron, 4 news. >> some san francisco supervisors are calling on governor newsom to get rid of pg and e because of the role it's played in wildfires in the past few years. some of them deadly. the supervisors want pg need to be replaced with a non-profit corporation known as golden state energy supervisor. connie chance resolution also calls for the governor to not renew the utilities safety certificate next year and it calls for the state to air mark money to fund a study on golden state energy. >> i think this is a critical moment for california and in this case and suspends is meeting that leading the way to say, well, what are all the option to make sure that we can have sustainable power that does not kill californians. if the full board approved the resolution at their july 19th meeting, the resolution will be sent to the governor. >> and to the state agency that needs to sign off on pg e's wildfire mitigation plan. >> well, now to our drought emergency with officials in sonoma county saying their drought situation is still getting worse. they say their water reservoirs are going well at all. and the area is getting more and more dry. we have kron four's gayle ong explaining why this puts them at greater risk for wildfires. >> very, very difficult to predict when this drought will. and speaking at a virtual meeting thursday, sonoma county supervisor lynda hopkins says the county is now in its 3rd driest water year on record and water. reservoirs are near historic lows. lake sonoma is at 53% of capacity and lake sonoma as 59% capacity. and the words both are nearly half empty. the state drought monitor map shows the county is classified under extreme drought conditions. that means areas are at risk for wildfires year around. this is a huge strain on these forest ecosystems >> our approach in real time. it's currently has been to we're pretty aggressively throughout the open space preserve. we numerous ones around the county around really just these these fires safe corridors of sheet fuel breaks in place for emergency access. a panel of environmental leaders spoke at the meeting, including a meteorologist from the national weather service. what climate research is showing is that droughts are becoming more frequent. >> and they're offering lasting for more than just one year. so that trend is likely to continue where we will see these periods of multiyear droughts, meteorologist brooke bingaman. it says the latest long-range weather forecast is showing la nina weather patterns, which is known to bring drought conditions does look like we'll go back to aligning its signal in fall and early winter. but we really need to monitor what the trend is for those wet months of december, january and february, because that will really tell us what could happen to our water supply for the following summer water quality caused by the drought was also discussed. environmental officials caution people to keep a lookout for blue green algae in local waters that could cause health issues for humans and pets. in the meantime, outdoor water restrictions are in place in sonoma county. water seed now is near chicago, his father could now also be facing charges. we get kind the sun with the story. >> years before shots ring out at a 4th of july parade in highland park, illinois, killing 7 and wounding dozens. authorities had the gunman on their law enforcement first responding in april of 2019 to a suicide attempt involving robert crimo. the 3rd, then 5 months later, a family member called police saying he threatened to kill everyone inside of the home state. police say officers found knives during the call, but they turned them over to the father who was the owner. however, despite these warning signs just months later, state police say crimo the thirds father sponsored his son's gun-license the following december. the attorney for the parents said exclusively on news nation prime that they were completely blindsided by the mass shooting this week, they dispute or that he was ever suicidal. and did they ever claimed he was suicidal? >> and they also dispute that he ever threatened to everyone from all the information that i lean from law enforcement authorities from speaking with the parents is they didn't do anything wrong. they're just a shock by this turn of events is everyone else's. it's similar to a case unfolding now in oxford, michigan. >> after 15 year-old ethan crumbley was charged with killing 4 classmates and injuring 7 others. >> during the school shooting last year, his parents now pleading not guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges. both of them. it took an action that help their child get a gun that then ended up being used to kill many people. >> the difference is that when the highland park's son a father did, it was like 3 years before he actually committed the crime, whereas in the oxford high school, it was just really a matter of days. a criminal defense attorney we spoke with says the father of robert crimo, the 3rd may also potentially face criminal charges for aiding and abetting in the commission of a crime. there's an intent aspect to aiding and abetting. i have to buy supply weapons, my my friend, because she tells me she's going rob a bank. >> all right. i have the intends to help her commit the crime. millbrae we're actually seeing a drop in gas prices. take a look about a month ago. a gallon of gas at this valero gas station cost about $6.20. and as you can see, it's now $6 and $0.9 if you pay with your card. but some drivers spoken to say that they would like to see the prices continue to drop, especially since the state's average is $6.14. take a look. here is how the bay area compare is a gallon of gas in santa rosa is the same as california's average gas is still a little more expensive in san francisco. but the price drops to $6.18 in oakland. it's even lower in san jose at $6.12. now, if you're trying to look for the cheapest place to get gas in the bay area, that sand low cost about $6 and $0.9. if you go to napa, however, you'll find gas be as high as $6 and $0.35 now has started was talking about gas prices. they follow oil prices. triple a says that falling oil prices have contributed to lower pump prices in the last month. gas has gone down between 25 to $0.40 a gallon in the bay area. it all depends where you fill up. and while drivers are happy to see the prices go down, they still say the prices are high. should drop some this is still >> just came back filling up their tanks and darya. james, we've noticed this whole morning that this valero gas station where it's $6 and $0.9 to fill up for a gallon of gas. we've just seen a lot of people at this gas station because the price is, well, it's a little lower than the one just across the street. chevron, $6.15. we're seeing about 2 cars right here. not pretty busy, but the bad news is that we're still paying $6 for a gallon of gas. more than $6 at some places. but the good news is that we're still seeing the prices continue to go down and hopefully will get at a reasonable price. maybe later this summer. i'll send it back to you guys. sweet. what would you consider reasonable? i'd get at this point. i'd say 5 bucks and be a deal. >> you know, it's interesting that you ask because i international airports actually going to be seeing some improvements. they have about 10 million dollars coming their way from the biden administration. it's all for part of last year's infrastructure bill, which included a billion dollars for airports all over the country. so 10 million coming to san jose airport and officials there say the money is going to be used to bring the facilities into compliance with the americans with disabilities act. in fact, south the representative zoe lofgren released a statement about this very thing in the funding saying that they're going to use that money to make the airport a lot more accessible to all travelers loftin says people with disabilities should be able to travel and access airport amenities just like everybody else. >> san jose city leaders are in the process of signing a lease with the vta to create a safe parking program for people who are living in their vehicles are arby's. it would provide a temporary designated location for parking and access to basic needs. the santa teresa light rail parking lot will be able to accommodate 45 to 60 arby's and there would be services such as restrooms, water and trash on site. the program will of the bay tapping into either 80's or for antioch in vacaville. our first 2 spots in the low 90's. tomorrow we dip back down into the low 80's and then see the heat really arrive into sunday monday and tuesday. all this under sunny and dry skies. as for our bridges, look at the bay bridge doing very didn't see a backup yesterday, nor have we this morning. so we've got spoiled with that. the average commute, san mateo bridge, 13 minutes at the limit and the richmond center fell only at 7 minutes. golden gate bridge sitting anderson and 20 minutes to get you from novato to the tolls.
