The fog just kind of a snaking along the coast all day long. Weak cold front sliding on by get a little more northerly wind up skies for the north and not the bay area. But Southern California that low spinning around that direction. Guess what . Theyre seeing some scattered showers popping up in that area. See some of those make their way toward the catalina islands as or that expected again for tomorrow, too. All right. Heres the pattern now. Youve got High Pressure that continues to our north. Youve got a pretty decent storm system off the coastline. Then youve got that low down to the south. Usually when you get this kind of pattern, youre developing a blocking ridge. And that means the jet stream is going to say too far to the north. Thats going to keep us high and dry for now. For the foreseeable future, at least for the next week and a half or so. Looks like that ridge will start to weaken a little bit. And so thats going for some cooler air to move in. But overall, it will be warm away from the coastline up toward the beaches. Could be a little chilly 50s and 60s along the immediate coast and that fog. But to make a pretty impressive run tonight, maybe some drizzle out along the coastline. And its tomorrow morning. Still ahead tonight at 8 calls to resign coming from across california and the nations capital. The fallout from racist remarks made by los angeles City Council Members continues. Thats next. A lot noise on anger and high emotion at the Los Angeles CityCouncil Meeting. Its the first one since audio was leaked of racist remarks made by Council Members. Fact those recent remarks are actually prompting calls for the resignation of the 3 City Council Members on the call, as well as the Council President , the woman who already gave up her presidency on the council as well as calls for the resignation coming from the nations capital. But for us, political analyst michael yaki joins us now with more on alarm. A very disturbing comments by these leaders in los angeles. Just what do you make of the politics surrounding all of this . All right, pam and ken. Well, first of all. Racism obviously isnt confined to whitesupremacist that service clearly here. But also, you know, texas city of race and power, especially political power is what you sort of see here. You saw the belittling of even some subgroups within the latino. The Latinx Community saw them making making it really unforgiveable slur. The adopted son one of their colleagues. I mean, this is this is this is just and it i think it its just a matter of days before all 3 them resigned. One of them gilson deal. Is already a lame duck and resignation that could occur. And in a matter of days, i think martinez, a deadly on both of them needs. People are very have been very ambitious, very career for them. Its going to take a little while to understand that they cant come back from this, at least not right now and theyre going to have to resign. But you could you see this in the context of redistricting and thats all about political power. You we see that on a much larger scale nationwide and at the statewide and even the National Level with whats going on with the Republican Party. Is this going to hurt the democrats in california as we approach the election or if they just if they resign and get it over with and try to, you know, clean the slate a little bit. Can they kind regroup after this . Well, i dont think its going to hurt that. They hurt the democrats. The fact is set the the the communities Like Community that can the community colleagues, people to resign does head to the Labor Federation who attended the meeting as well just by omission consent to what was going on. Just keep that person resign. Thats really thats really big, big step for that. So i think that the accountability is going to happen. And yes, you want to get it out of the way and move on because the election is going on. But i dont think i think in terms of california, it means very little in terms of the election in terms of longer term. We refered patients within the law centers community between latinx and black communities. Thats something thats going to need going to be addressed. And and thats going to be some work thats going to need to be done because certainly while everyone there is united to get these people out, it does sort of amplified some of the tensions that might be might exist between those communities and the year and issue of redistricting, a political power. California senator, the ag and the state of the president , even whos going to be in la tomorrow. Asking for them to resign. The white house saying, look, democrats stand up when their people speak out of turn and take action. The republicans do is that legitimate . I think is that it is legitimate. Its sort of one of those things where, you know, we do call ourselves out and we and we do take responsibility, may not be pretty. It may not be good in in in the short term but long term. It is. It just shows accountability to the issue of of race and its primacy in terms of what democrats think about themselves. I think you can contract very sharply with the fact that you have, you know, its very hard core whites from since. Of the Republican Party that that at least or at least the trumpian part of the Republican Party that trump and others refuse to disavow. I mean, just remember, stand back and stand by with the proud boys in end. Thats all you need to know. This is this is something that is very distinct, very different. Its a little bit of a distraction. Its not going affect the midterms, but it does on a sort of broader scale show the differences between how democrats and at least be to be trumping court Republican Party deal with the issue of racism in the ranks. What we know about how this audio even came to who recorded it, how to get out. Do you know anything about that . Well, i mean, it was i know that the fellow was posted was posted on reddit, which is. Partly for folks who have. Well, interesting, interesting background, but i think that it was taking a very quickly because the california Labor Federation as alleged that and has said repeatedly that they believe that they were the victim of an illegal wiretap. Obviously, oneparty consent state. So you can record at a meeting and you and and release it. If you want to buy that you cant illegally place a recording device in someone elses thing without the other parties having any knowledge when this is something work . I think that that i think whats interesting there may be more shoes to drop depending how how big the extent these recordings were, because i think that that person to court put this out there, put it out there with a very blatantly anti union anti in labor heading so well see if theres more more to come. Again, you know, its its going to be a tempest in teapot for a while, but has no sort of longterm repercussions in terms of whats going to happen the next 20 to 28 days for the election. So want to ask you a couple questions about the elections. The ballots have been mailed out in california. Nationally, what is your sense of how things are shifting . Many are saying that the republicans are trying to push the issues of the economy and inflation and make that, you know the cause and cried the concerns for the election that the democrats are trying to push lay abortion ruling by the court of the extremists who are running in many of the positions on the gop side of the far, far right candidates and the risk of democracy whose but it seems that the Republican Base might be more revved up and the Democratic Base as we approach the midterm. Youre great. Well, i wont. I would. I would disagree. I think a lot of the polling shows that both bases are pretty amped up about getting out to vote. The issue is going to be sort of where you have the trump reelection deny years over the the the strict strict antiabortion folks on the ballot. Is there going to be some crossover from moderate republicans over . Well, the either sit on their hands or will they actually cast a vote . The democrat you had today and consider the republican congressman who was on the january 6th mean releasing a list of endorsements. A lot of them are democrats. He sold in chain the chain ago and talk the in arizona at the mccain institute. Talk about the church for governor in effect, every state office in arizona. She was going she would advise people to vote for the democrats because but she just thought that people are a little bit. You crazy in arizona just on the state ballot. So well see how that goes. When theres evan flows. You know, 4 while the Dobbs Decision activated, a lot of peoples minds and momenta then and gas kind ticked down out. Gases ticked up. The saudis have cut output, becomes stabbed quite frankly. Joe biden in the back on this. Then Herschel Walker comes along and abortion. Abortion rights comes back. This is going to be like this flipping back and forth between now and election day. The question is going to be who actually filled out their ballots . Who gets to who gets the polls, the traditional sort of get out the vote and both parties are investing millions and millions of dollars when the next few weeks to get people to go to those places and asserted have them change their mind or or flipped their boat on these on these critical issues, whether its whether its dogs and abortion, whether its what, whether its inflation, whether its extremism, election denials. So youre going to see that going back and forth. And right now its its anybodys guess as to whos going to whos going to win if national . Yeah, you answer my question, michael. Prior to prior to the abortion decision by the supreme court, the republicans had some steam with inflation, gas prices and all of that after the ruling on abortion, it seems like the tide had completely changed in the democrats had a head wind or the tail and pending. How you how you look at it. The advantage. But now its a tossup right . It is a tossup. But but to for the democrats, it also does at least where they would like to be right now because if you look at at the poll 6, 7 months ago, it was clear it was going to be up a red wave. Now, you know, its going to be a little bit of a tidal surge one way or the other. You know, a few 100 votes here. And there in different precincts in different states could be the difference between a big majority by the republicans a very narrow majority by the by the democrats in the house and the senate is. Is very close. And thats going to be all depend on turnout and some of the people there in it in terms of what theyre going to do for the 2024 election if they were elected there, big consequences beyond just whats going to happen in the next 2 years. All right. Michael yaki, our political analysts, a lot more conversations with you in the leadup to the election. Thank you. Thank werent a quick break. Well be right back. Take a look at this little more. Police shared this picture today of a boa constrictor. They rescued last night. The 6 foot long snake. I think well see haze in some spots in the afternoon least in some of the valley as you get toward the santa clara valley. Also the tri valley likely to see some of that haze.
