Reporter allegedly he pretended to be a 14yearold boy and then through a popular iphone or android messaging app, made contact with the girl, earned her trust and took advantage of her. According to the San Leandro Police department, 40yearold ian robert tager posed online as a 14yearold boy. Tager in the victim, a 13year old girl, apparently chatted using a messaging app called kick. After weeks of exchanging messages, he allegedly persuaded the young girl to meet him in person. She was lowered by a 40year old Child Predator that drove from patterson, california, to san leandro, to pick up this 13 yearold girl and take her to a motel in east oakland to perform sex acts with her. Reporter after interviewing the victim, police were able to identify tager of the suspect. He was arrested at his home in patterson. Investigators also sees computers, phones and other residents materials. Upon further investigation, Police Believe there may be additional victims. As the Police Continue the investigation, interview both the girl and man, they have credible evidence to believe there are other child victims in the San Francisco bay area and Central Valley who may have been victimized by mr. Teager. Ian teager now places four felony counts of sexual acts with a minor under 14 years of age. Reporter he is scheduled to appear in Alameda County superior Court Tomorrow morning. Neighbors say anytime they walked by this home, teager never said hello and instead would be on his computer or phone to himself four hours. They say teager would sit on his porch using the device is now confiscated as evidence by investigators. Every time i would walk to my mailbox, he never said high to anybody. He never said hi to anybody. I always tried to be friendly since i moved in but he Never Associated with anybody. Reporter he lives one block away from creekside middle school. Neighbors say his wife is a teacher. Parents in the area are worried about a possible Child Predator lived among them. Now to east bay where a heavy Police Presence is near hayward this afternoon after u. S. Marshals shot and wounded a suspect. What led to the confrontation . Reporter good evening, pam. U. S. Marshals were trying to detain a suspect when things went awry. This was just after 3 00 this afternoon, Cedar View Elementary School was still in session and had to be shut down for over an hour, while trying to take the fugitive into custody, Officials Say it became dangerous and they had to fire at the suspect who was inside of a vehicle. He did sustained some injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. Now, it isnt clear if he was grazed by a bullet or if shrapnel or glass hit him, but his injuries are considered minor. This all went down on a residential street which is also a dead end. One woman rushed home today to check on her elderly mom, after finding out the shooting happened right in front of their home. I came home from work because my mom is 87 years old, she has angina, all of these health problems, i was like, oh, my god, ive got to get there. I dont know if they were, like, fighting, or what. If somebody was having conflict with someone or whatever. And then, yeah. Then i heard the cans and then i heard, like, pop, pop, pop. And im, like, im going inside. The shooting happened right here near macarthur boulevard and interstate 580 in san leandro. Minutes later, one of the vehicles involved, a Nissan Altima was on nearby dowling avenue right here, that is where the nissan slammed into a toyota previous prius had on. You can see the damage, this is the Nissan Altima which crossed the double yellow line, slamming into that prius, actually send the prius airborne and that is where the prius landed, horrific wreckage. The elderly couple in the prius rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. Again, that is the ultimate. We see the prius right there. The jaws of life needed to get the driver out of that prius. As for the altima in the earlier shootout, Police Showed up and found a guy near the car who had been shot multiple times. Hes injuries are not considered lifethreatening. He is at the hospital and could face charges. One witness explains how loud the car crash was. I heard two noises, like a bang, bang. At first i thought they were shotgun blasts. But it turns out my neighbor said, that is probably two collisions by the cars. Students at uc berkeley staged a walkout today after hearing that a professor accused of Sexual Harassment was allowed to continue working. Even as that was going on, University Policy allowed him to continue to teach, advise, interact with students oneon one. We felt that puts students at risk. The professor has been accused of inappropriate sexual behavior with a female student over the periodicity 2 years. Uc berkeley allows him to work in action which some say shows that the University Values tenured faculty over the safety of its students. During the walkout, students call for a reevaluation of University Policy regarding when to place faculty on administrative leave. Yesterday, uc berkeley told students that they would be allowed to leave his class and take the course with another instructor. Reporter Oakland Police investigators say the five teenage female suspects were originally involved in a series of similar strongarm robberies. Right now we have connected with them about approximately 10 other robberies that happened between october 25 through november 14. There were questions about protocol, why the police were not informed yesterday, why it took until this afternoon for this information to get to the Police Department. Somebody needs to have a brotherhood and if people want to go get fat, fine, let them go against it but at what point do we say, theres a lot to talk about . What is the solution . How many times have all of us heard about a High School Shooting . And they dont investigate how this has happened. Reporter a teacher in the district also said that teachers need more training in terms of how to talk to students about difficult issues like race, and also questions about what the consequences are for Something Like this. We understand the first offense is 3 to 5 days of suspension, and the second offense is expulsion. Many parents wanted to get across that they wanted the school to make it clear to the students that there is no tolerance for Something Like this. One of the things the principal said in terms of consequences, that its in the handbook. A lot of parents pushed back and said we actually need to be very clear to students about what the consequences are for Something Like this so that they can avoid an expulsion or a suspension. The principal did talk about a program that they have that is called breaking the walls down. He said 400 students participate in that program and the idea is to figure out where the Common Grounds between the students are. Also something the principal said is that there are some hidden cameras, that they are looking into, so that might help them figure out who actually wrote this on the wall. Of course, this is coming on the heels of a third graffiti incident, racist graffiti incident, in the same school district. This one at california high, nearby. A Smart Phone App at the center of an alleged child sex predator case. What parents need to know, thats important. First, grant lodes is here with what police are saying about how this young teenager was victimized. Reporter San Leandro Police telus ian teager, who use the right here, is from the Central Valley, posed online as a 14yearold boy. The alleged victim in this case . A 13yearold girl. Two exchanging messages for weeks on the app called kick. And eventually, they say teager convinced her to meet in person. He allegedly drove to san leandro from patterson, south of tracy in the Central Valley, to pick up the 13yearold. Police say he took her to a nearby hotel in east oakland where they engaged in sexual acts. He was arrested at his home in patterson. Police also seizing computers, phones, other evidence. Teager now faces four felony counts of sexual acts with a minor. Police say they think you may have victimized other children in the bay area and Central Valley. They are asking potential victims to contact them. For more on this app like kick and others like it, gabe slade joins us now with what parents need to know. Reporter scary stuff. Kids are not just using facebook and twitter these days. I searched messaging apps on the app store and there are dozens and dozens. I counted, just a quick count, over 40. It can be very intimidating as a parent nowadays, but lets start out with kik. It is one of the most popular ones out there and can be one of the most dangerous. There are two types of messaging apps kids use. Must require a phone number to use. Those are easy to track for parent because at least you know they are not using them if they dont have a cell phone line. And, its easy to track down someone doing something bad. Theres marketability with apps tidy tuple minds. The problem with kik, it requires no phone number and you can fake your name, meaning the people you talk to dont know who you are. This means anyone can pretend to be anyone. I spoke with a senior parenting editor for common sense media, an independent Nonprofit Organization which reviews and rates apps so parents know what they are and how safe they are. She says kik can be dangerous for kids. We have rated kik age 17. What that means is, we believe kids younger than 17 probably dont have the maturity to use this app safely and responsibly. Reporter the thing about kik, it is not just a simple messaging app, its a portal to hundreds of apps or games that you can play and be part of within the app. It is kind of like a stone app store. So, there are many avenues for your kids to meet strangers. You can even find a tinder like app called to nearby, which allows you to chat with people in your vicinity. Reporter dont be mad at kik and their developers, they made a great app. Its fun, millions of adults and teenagers use it with no problems. Its so good, its appealing to kids. Its going to happen. If its not kik, itll be another app. Parents need to be informed. Be aware of kik, be aware of these apps that let people be anonymous. Your kids could be talking to anyone through these apps. So, parents, if your kids are using these apps, how do you talk to them . Reporter dont ban the phone, dont take it away, dont be on the app or take it away because then they will use it with their friends at school or at their friends house. You have to talk to them, every sunday night, talk to them and hammer into them, you dont know who is on these apps if it is anonymous. Try to use it only with your friends. If you meet strangers with it, dont do that, but fine if you do, but especially the most important thing, dont ever meet a stranger in person if you have met through the app. At least try to stop them at that. New tonight, a Police Officer punching a woman in the face during an arrest all caught on camera. Heres a video. It started in flagstaff, arizona when a couple was being evicted from their apartment. At one point, the officer approached the woman and tried to arrest her on a warrant. New tonight at 8 00, two Elementary School students in chicago caught on camera fighting. But it was not the fight that caused concern. It was that the students say the fight was encouraged by an adult supervisor. Throughout the three minute video, there is an adult voice not just taking the boys on, but ordering them to fight. Now these boys are friends. You can hear the supervisor reminding them to make sure they are still friends after the fight. The boys were not injured, but both were traumatized. In fact, one woman says her son suffered a panic attack after the fight and had to be rushed to the hospital. It makes you angry, especially with the stuff going on in society today. It makes you very angry, especially knowing that you have a son and that is not something you are teaching them at home, but that is something at school that they are condoning. That is what is very, very frustrating. Officials sent a letter home to parents saying the person involved is no longer an employee or supervising afterschool activities. The parents hope the woman involved will face charges. A trip to Yellowstone National park took a dramatic turn for the worse when a man fell into a hot springs and died. According to park officials, his body actually dissolved in the acidic water.
