This is happening in and unusual dress shop in downtown San Francisco were women change their close and they change their outlook in life. It is called dress for success. Vicki liviakis shows us some real success stories. Reporter like any posh boutique women are doing and awing and trying on possibilities. This is no average dress shop, this is dress for success in San Francisco. The women may have great taste but no money, no jobs, no homes. Dress for success wants to make sure they have hope. They get a nice pair of heels, maybe a new suit. Dress for success is about the power of transformation. When a woman puts on a suit she sees herself in a new way. Shes able to see future. Reporter cheryl was living in a shelter before she came to dress for success. Now she not only looks like 1 million she is fully employed. She looks for opportunities and she takes them and run with them. I am a manager at a salon. I am doing fabulous. I feel like my life has been dramatically impacted. I have continued to grow as a person, as a woman, as a mother. Reporter it is one thing to get a leg up in the job market, these women are doing it but getting a foot in the door all the while wearing a hot pair of heels. They are considered a lost cause, banished 2 years behind bars. A group of inmates in massachusetts are working hard to give unloved the dogs a 2nd chance. Reporter those of us who have dogs know what this moment feels like. It was like an emotional homecoming. It was great to see. Reporter a homecoming because her she returned to the man who trained her. He just happens to live behind bars. The sheriff launched a program a year ago called project the dog. Inmates from his Work Release Program have been taught to train dogs that are considered at first unadoptable. They work with a local Animal Shelter called 2nd chance. Why inmates . What is the one thing the rest of us dont have . Time. They are here, they have the time, they can put the effort in that most people dont have. Reporter the dogs actually live in the cells with the inmates for several weeks. As you can imagine things can get pretty tense in the cellblock especially during the summer months. But the sheriff tomie once you bring the dogs in you can feel the atmosphere among the inmates change. The officers tell us that the stress dropped dramatically, the dogs have a way of being adopted by the entire block. Because of that it is a safer environment. Friday on the one Year Anniversary of the program some of the 20 dogs adopted came back. This program is phenomenal. It is amazing what they come in with what they leave with. Reporter what do the inmates get out of this . I get to come here and handle dogs and see them come from not a good situation and help them reconnect.
