As spectators did make the most of the situation. Its not unusual for the fog to make an appearance, but the blue angels and the other pilots did work around it safely. The annual fleet week air show brought thousands of people to marina green park saturday. But this year, the event caps spectators guessing. I think theyre funny because its like we cant really see anything right now. But last year we got to see the amount of the flips in and everything the show was put on a brief weather hold as a marine layer blanketed the San Francisco bay. This man giving a nickname for the blue angels fog usually where garrett daily at. If were up there now, it might get a little bit of blue. Now theyve been here. Years is feels a lot like San Francisco. Shouldnt be this disappointed by the fog rolled in throughout the afternoon. But people are in good spirits. San franciscos Health Department has released data showing the citys first decline in Overdose Deaths in 3 years. That data released friday detail. Substance use trends through 2021. Heres a look at those numbers last year. Almost 630 people died from drug overdoses involving opioids, cocaine or meth. Thats an 11 decrease compared to 2020. But still, 41 above prepandemic levels. Fentanyl remained the primary driver of Overdose Deaths in the city. With 75 of overdose cases involving the deadly drug. The report also highlighted the inequities that persist as africanamericans in San Francisco experience and overdose death rate. That is 5 times higher than the citywide total. The department of health says that these numbers illustrate the need for a citywide approach to lower the risks for people who use drugs. All right. Coming up, 5 years later, residents in the north bay remembering the devastating tubbs fire that killed more than 20 people and destroyed thousands of homes. Welcome back. Today marks 5 years since the deadly tubbs fire at the time it was the most destructive wildfire in californias history. More than 20 people were killed and more than 6,000 homes were destroyed. Kron fours camila barco reports in the north bay where many are reflecting on the frightening day. On saturday morning, dozens of people showed up to coffey park in santa rosa on the 5 Year Anniversary of the 2017 wildfires. Its a neighborhood burned by the tubbs fire and a place john and sylvia lz and debbie have called home for more than 20 years on october, 8th, 2017, they evacuated their homes after smelling smoke and finding other houses in flames. We didnt grab much. Just got dressed. We could hardly breathe. I mean, it was really thick not too long after they came back to check out the damage. But they found this homes burned to the ground and everything they owned gone christmas. I dont made when they were 5 out of paper. You cant replace those. And i just sat here and cried because its 30 years our life. The tubbs fire b rned more than 36,000 acres destroyed almost 6,000 structures. And 22 people died fast forward 5 years later. If you walk around coffey park neighborhood, youll find about a dozen or so empty. Lots like this one. Well, thats because some people like the elsies have rebuilt their homes. But for others, the rebuilding process is still ongoing. Santa rosa mayor chris rogers says more than 90 of the 3,000 homes lost in the city have been rebuilt, are in construction or have been approved to break ground. Its fantastic to see how far as a community we come around the same time. 2 other fire sparked in the north bay. The nuns and atlas fires. Each one of those birds more than 50,000 acres destroyed dozens of structures and killed several people. Since then, there have been many improvements by Santa Rosa Fire Department like sending out emergency alerts and warning notifications have additional firefighters on hand during critical fire weather. We have everything from access to Artificial Intelligence with cameras that are monitoring fires. Now additional weather stations. The elsies and say the process to bounce back has been a challenge, but theyve been able to move on with the support from others to. Im glad that we live here. But for a lot of people, im sure the moisture in the air is really nice to see. Say the Silver Lining because i just checked radar for our long cast. I dont really see a lot of rain, but we do have fog. So for fleet week, thats not a good thing. But at least for atmosphere in moisture and fire, whether thats a good thing. So i think were going to see the intensity of the fog early in the morning as we fast for that podcast for you can see around 11, 30 things will slowly start to look better. Again, were going to be the 80s allay 75 santa rosa. 75 even right there on the coast. Were looking at Half Moon Bay at 59. So again, those temperatures are going to be warm. Goalie going to dip down. You can see the seasonable temperatures. Were going to be in the 80s. You can see monday as we start your work week. Its going to be cooler. 83 bay, 69, even coast 61. And as we roll into the weekend, the temperatures will dip down to slightly as we speak into friday of next week. Its going to warm up to 88. But overall seasonable temperatures, its going to be dry.
