Well, still plenty of questions, vicki, about the motive, how somebody could get through whatever security there was at their Pacific Heights home. Right now, we can tell you that investigators for the most part of left the scene, there are a few officers still on standby here, but that investigation continues. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is husband paul was attacked with a hammer about 2. 30 friday morning at their Pacific Heights home. Our officers observed ms pelosi and the suspect both holding a hammer. The suspect pulled the hammer away from Mister Pelosi and violently assaulted him with it. Our officers immediately tackled the suspect, disarm him, took him into custody, requested emergency backup and render medical aid. Police have identified the suspect as 42 yearold david, the whos been booked for attempted murder, elder abuse and burglary. Speaker pelosi was in washington, d. C. , at the time of the attack.
