francisco. you see a little break in the clouds right now, but the clouds. yeah, they're thickening up along the coastline already. we are starting to see more scattered showers begin to pop up outside. even some more snow continuing in the santa cruz mountains. also the east bay mount hamilton continue to see some snow there and the north bay now beginning to see more coverage is really the main cold front just about to move on shore and really, this is the main event. so you can see it right here off the coastline. you see that swirl. that's the area of low pressure out there right off the coastline. that low was really the center of the system and that's at the same time we're going to see this cold front comes swinging through the bay area. what a cold front is. if you believe that it's a boundary from colder weather behind it and warmer weather out ahead of it. so we're looking at some colder air moving in overnight tonight. going to be a long stormy night ahead. get ready, more snow and rain coming your way. all right, lawrence. yeah, it's been days now without electricity for some residents on the peninsula. >> our forces he mid spoke to a pair of neighbors in north fair oaks about their concerns with the ongoing power outage. i'm isolated. i-phone. >> no phone, no alarm system. no landline, no cell phone, no charging. no tv. it's been that way since monday. >> the ongoing power outages bewley a sense of desperation for some residents here in north fair oaks and unincorporated section of san mateo county bordering redwood city, menlo park and atherton. how much longer do you think you can last like this probably not too much longer, especially if their pets, but hopefully he'll be back today. that cooley has lived in this area for over 5 decades. but in over 50 years, have you ever experienced a power outage that lasted this long? never know. we were just talking about that. this is a very unusual. >> as you can see this traffic signal at the intersection of a road in march road was not working. >> but just a few blocks away across the border of the neighboring city, traffic lights are working. the power is on adding to the frustration of roles, mcclure. it's not likely live out in the country where you would expect something like this, you know, not to have service for a few days. >> in be more prepared. living in the city. you don't expect anything like that to happen. these 2 longtime neighbors say the biggest challenge is that the power outages happening while the bay area is experiencing extremely cold temperatures. what's been the worst of it for you? >> no heat. it's been really cold in the house warmer outside than it is inside. how how are keeping warm? >> heat. >> tons clothes that a lot of suspected shooter was arrested in this parking lot. heartbreaking is of course, the sentiment from everyone. but i have talked to family members and friends of the victims are going to need help. so many unanswered questions. but this is just the beginning of a very long >> process. >> tonight at 5.30, it has been one month since the city of half moon bay was changed for ever in the mass shooting that took the lives of 7 people. the city's mayor is hoping some of those changes might be for the better like improvements to farm worker, housing and their quality of life. our current for stephanie lynn sat down with the mayor this week. she joins us live again now from half moon bay with more on that, stephanie. >> yeah, vicki catherine, the mayor invited us to sit down with her one-on-one inside of her home for an intimate discussion on all of this. and we also confirmed with her that at least one of the 2 farms involved in this case was operating illegally. >> what's been the most challenging part of navigating all of this. >> i think trying to understand how we can help. take a situations. pretty awful. do something for the folks that suffered take advantage of the love and the humanity that here. >> mayor deborah penrose took office in december 2 months later, the unspeakable happened. so it first to a shop. now it's it's it's grief. >> it's pain. >> trying not to be so absorbed in the pain that you can't be useful. and we've got to take a very, very serious look. >> at the offenses that have been committed. >> by. >> our farm owners. >> she says california terra garden the farm where the accused gunman lives was operating without a permit so you're saying that they were operating illegally were operating illegally and and. >> and in disgraceful conditions. he described what you saw. >> holes in the roof where rain comes >> holes in though, and the walls were rats could get in. no, no bathrooms of port-a-potties, but i'm not even the kitchen sink. it was pretty pretty outrageous. >> in a prepared statement to kron 4 news, california terra gardens shared that all 8 families who lived on the property did so in county inspected homes, equipped with kitchens, shower facilities and other standard living amenities. >> if someone has a farm and houses more than 4 persons on that farm, they must obtain a county permit. but they did not. >> after the shooting, the farm announced plans to build permanent structures for its workers. but the mayor says she has yet to get any word on exactly what that means. >> how do you make sure that you're holding these farms accountable? we're not out to punish folks. >> what we want is to get decent housing for everyone. there are wonderful. >> farm owners who have house their workers for years >> and done it with grace and with love and >> but there are others that have not. what do you hope is going to come out of all of this? what i hope for most is that we will be able to see our minimum wage workers housed fed, educate. it's it's not going to be quickly but i think if we just keeper heart open and our minds working. we'll be able to make half moon bay and even better place. that looks that looks sentenced in a los angeles courtroom, too. 16 years for rape convictions. he had been found guilty in december on 3 counts of rape and assault. the 70 year-old was sentenced to 8 years on count 1, count to 2 years on count 3. all of that to run consecutively. he has already been serving a 23 year sentence for a separate conviction in new york. he pleaded for mercy today before the sentencing was announced, telling the court placed on sentence me to life in prison. i don't deserve it. weinstein has been denying all allegations of non consensual. >> still ahead, he is a world renowned choreographer with a philosophical approach. we're going to meet the bay area's alonzo king is hard for honors black history month. and a look at this. the cold winter storm that we're seeing up here in the bay area. it's also being felt. >> in la dropping snow on the hollywood sign. believe it or not, according to reports, snow levels dropped down to nearly 1500 some roads, residents barely hills started. yeah. all around the state fact, i think southern california may get hammered a lot worse. >> the bay area, they're not only going to see some snow may be blizzard conditions and some very heavy rain and flooding near the coastline. there outside the bay area. tonight, the frontal system just get ready to move on shore tonight. and here we go. the main event kind of set itself up now. lot of clouds begin to roll in outside. we've got some scattered showers popping up around the bay area tonight. yeah, again, another night of freezing numbers running in the low to about the mid 30's around the bay area. get over the mountain peaks even colder than that. unusually low snow levels again to about 1000, maybe 1500 feet. and that's where it's going to stick. your likely see snowflakes a much lower than that. it's just not going to take on the ground. so if you get a downdraft tonight, you can see some snow all the way down to sea level overnight tonight into early tomorrow morning. just won't stick on the ground accumulations maybe upwards of a foot of snow the higher peaks specially the south bay. and here you go. you can see that swirl in the atmosphere. this is that low pressure center off the coastline. here's your cold front right here. and it is just now about to enter in the bay area. so next couple of hours really going to start to pick up. so we've got watches and warnings across the entire state. all these are red. those are winter storm warnings across almost all of california and in southern california, you're trying to go to southern california along i-5 blizzard warnings going up could see as much as 3 feet of snow across the grapevine overnight tonight and into tomorrow. that will to shut system down there. i-5 will get closed overnight tonight and tomorrow morning. so watch out for that. you may want to go one on one, but even that is going to be treacherous with all the rain out there this evening. you see the showers out there right now scattered about the bay area. still some snow falling over the highest peaks in the south bay right now and also in the north bay. that's where watching just to the north now, you can see in clear lake, we're starting to see some of those snow showers moving a little bit closer now. and this is all part of the front that's about to move into the bay area. you see right there. this is all heading southward here in the next couple of hours. so the rain is going to be picking up. the winds are also going to be picking up. keep that flashlight handy. likely going to see some more power outages and trees coming down tonight and some very cold temperatures with rain. and yes, no. choreographer. alonzo king is a bay area treasure. his reputation really known all around the world,
