when this morning governor gavin newsom has proclaimed january 22nd as lunar new year in california and has ordered that all flags at state buildings to be flown at half-staff in honor of the victims the rain now. we've got to get used to the sunshine. dave spahr joining us this morning. a day there are no surprise drains, you know, spots in our forecast this week, right? yeah, there were, you know, that's been kind of change little bit on us. no rain to cause. the newer models are actually trending a little drier. and hey, we need all the sunshine because now we have the moisture. >> so the sun needs are now we need the sun to turn the starches and sugars and plants and so forth as they grow clear skies. you can see temperatures in the 40's mostly across the district. got 51 up to napa. 50 people why so lofty? because when you compared to where we were 24 hours ago, we're well ahead of these numbers this morning. it's the winds, even though it's dry, which normal temperatures fall very nicely. but with the winds were, can we don't get as well cooling and we've got as well heating either, though. here's a quick snapshot of where the winds stand there. you can see pretty much offshore still in place and we'll go ahead and called breezy over. the wind advisory has been retired for most of the region. let's zip through here. real quickly. the humidity levels here this higher humidity levels we onshore wind would do the same thing for the pacific. but because offshore like that coming from the east actually bringing in some moisture. okay. the winds are going to last much longer out of the north. and again, as i just showed you do little shift towards the east, that typically is dry becoming due east this go-around. not so much. and the game plan is goes like this for today. we've got sunny, breezy early, cool and dry. then this week, a few scattered clouds, cool, cold. in other words, high temperatures will be somewhat cool, but it is winter in around 60 ish either degree either way and then cold at night. we may re ventures some 30's in this program for next weekend as our reena was talking about some scattered clouds, a shower on sunday question. mark, because it doesn't look as hopeful in the models are a little bit divided on all of this. although it looks like tahoe might get a little bit of snow from that better chance there up. and also from holding public office. now that legislation would prohibit anyone convicted of participating in an insurrection from holding public office or a position of public trust such is becoming a police officer. republicans say that legislation is unnecessary, saying it's more of a political agenda than an actual concern for public policy. congress returns to washington this week with a new sense of urgency to raise the county's debt ceiling. treasury secretary janet yellen told lawmakers the u.s. hit its borrowing limit last week forcing her to rely on accounting maneuvers to buy them a little more time. washington correspondent jessi tenure has the latest on where that debate stands. good morning. house republicans and president biden are still no closer to reaching a deal. and secretary yellen worries what that could mean for the american people. >> it's a very responsible thing to do. treasury secretary janet yellen warned congress against using the debt ceiling as a bargaining tool would impose a self-imposed calamity on the united states and the world economy. yellen started to buy lawmakers more time last week when the u.s. officially hit its debt limit. she is temporarily suspending payments to federal employees. retirement and healthcare finds which she said should keep the government open until june. yellen reminded lawmakers this is not about new spending. this is about paying bills have already been incurred. but house republicans are demanding spending cuts in exchange for raising the debt ceiling. 31 trillion dollars created by both republicans and democrats. this is both parties falls on nbc's meet the press. south carolina congresswoman nancy mace said this is the time to have this debate. and pennsylvania congressman brian fitzpatrick told fox news sunday that it's what the american people elected them to do. so nobody should be taking the position that we're not going negotiate. but that remains the biden administration's stance. if congress does not raise the debt ceiling, the u.s. will not be able to pay for things like military salaries, social security benefits and food safety inspections on cnn state of the union, illinois democrat senator durbin warned his colleagues against any delays. we're in the very risk of a recession in this economy. now, yellen does expect congress will ultimately raise the debt limit. there have been roughly 80 deals to either raise or suspend it since the 1960's. >> in washington, i'm jessi tenure. >> still to come on the kron 4 morning news, a firefighter is injured in a san francisco plays at this place is 25 residents were going to tell you more about that after the break. >> well, and san francisco, 25 people were displaced after a fire broke out in burned through 2 buildings early sunday morning. this all happening on hays street in the city's nope, a neighborhood around one. 45 sunday, at least one firefighter was injured battling that fire. they had to be taken to a local hospital and treated for their injuries. >> this injury is minor. the firefighter was taken to a local hospital and will be okay. >> fire investigators are looking into what caused that fire. as for that, 25 residents who are displaced, the red cross is assisting those people with finding accommodations. well, we're in the south bay. a fire broke out at an apartment complex along mueller avenue in san jose. that's right. near magee road and north capitol avenue. it broke out just before 3.40, sunday afternoon. you can see that smoke pouring out of that window of a structure. firefighters say there were no injuries reported. the red cross is also responding to assist the residents. it's not clear how many people were impacted by that. still ahead of the kron, 4 morning
