Alberto salgado was arrested in Merced County for criminal conspiracy, accessory and destroying evidence. Hes the brother of the primary suspect Jesus Salgado salgado has been in the hospital since tuesday after trying to take his own life. He is charged with 4 counts of murder and 4 counts of kidnapping. The Merced County sheriff says all got to work at one of the familys companies and had a working relationship with them. Investigators out of the 48 yearold has a criminal background, including Home Invasion. The details of that Home Invasion have not yet been released. Meantime, though, the mayor said sheriff admits this has been a very disturbing case. In anguish for the families, the victims, families on this. Theyre going to have a life long suffering from this undersheriff gibson. And i spent well over an hour with the family this morning and the grief and the sadness and the and the anguish that they were feeling it breaks my heart. And at times i wanted to cry myself. As more details come out about the kidnapping and the death of the family. Community members are coming together to grieve. Candlelight vigils will be held for the next 2 days and set to honor the lives of the family. Katherine phillips was at one held last night and she has story. A moment of prayer for young families taken too to. Hundreds of or said that he handles now their heads and prayed gathering to pay their respects for 27 yearold jazzy incurred. 36, youre seeing. 39 yearold on the deep seeing an 8 monthold baby girl over. He dare he. Their bodies found in a remote orchard near dos palos wednesday evening after being first reported missing on monday. Their deaths, a result of an armed kidnapping. Its been sunny, a little kyla grogan is at the Weather Center and shes going to give us an update. Like i said, kyle, a little foggy this morning over the bay bridge. Whats it looking like now . About a little pressure on the Weather Department today to get some nice blue skies, those blue angels to fly. And we do have some of the fog hanging out, particularly the coast. And out by the bridge. But you can see as we take a look at the bay, its a little hazy out there, right . But there is also plenty of sunshine, too. So i feel like by the time we get to the afternoon, we should be looking pretty good. Currently, 66 in San Francisco, 66 in oakland about 74 in san Jose Livermore already in the low 80s upper 70s in concord in santa rosa, sitting at 72 degrees. We have got some calm wind out there out of the west. That will certainly be great for the blue angels as they take to the skies today, expecting as we get to the afternoon, we could see that ramp up to about 10 to 15 Miles Per Hour, but not bad. But where the fog is concerned. I wanted to show you the podcast. So still hanging on by the Golden Gate Bridge. No doubt about it. Get us into the afternoon here. You can see we get about 4 oclock. Then were going to start to see some of this roll back in as we get into the evening. So i think between the hours of about 12 4, we should do. All right. Were going to be doing that cat and mouse thing with the fog. No doubt about it. And thats today and tomorrow, by the way. So were going to call it partly cloudy today as the blue angels take to the sky for our fleet week festivities kicking off looking out for a high of about 70 degrees in San Francisco. And as i mentioned, that wind likely kick up a little bit as we get into the afternoon. A live look outside from the east bay, though, you see a little of haze, but also plenty of blue sky. So i have hope that were going to have a nice show today. Here are todays highs are looking out for a 6 in santa rosa will see 90 in concord at antioch, about 83 in san jose. But around the bay itself, some very nice 70s in a few 80s out there can be allowed back in just a little bit with the extended forecast are now send it back to you. All right. Happening today, 23 million californians will begin getting a little extra help paying for things as inflation continues to rise. Its all due to californias middle class tax refund and kron fours dan kerman has the story. As inflation soars, what we pay for a tank of gas these days continues to climb. Gas is a big guy, a commuter lot and so thats where city a lot of money now, some help for some 23 million californians beginning friday, individuals making up to 250,000 and couples making up to 500,000 will receive a tax helped. I dont think dont notice the difference. The Franchise Tax boards website has a tool which will allow you to calculate just how much youll receive the money comes from the states surplus and payments will range from 200 to 1050 depending on peoplesr income on their 2020 california tax return, somebodys family still hurting from covid in still have a hard time. Paying rent, paying for food, paying for gas. We want to make sure that we rebated as much money as possible. So we were saying that were sending out 9. 5 billion dollars in tax rebate. The payments will come in 2 ways. For some. It will be by direct deposit to the group that we direct deposit, starting tomorrow. Then you need to electronically file that section 2022. Those eligible for direct deposit will likely start seeing that money as early as friday, all the way through the middle of november. Ucsf has one of the best facilities for Cancer Treatment and research. Doctor biden will be touring ucsf, helen diller, family comprehensive Cancer Center. This visit is a part of the Biden Administrations cancer moonshot, which gives federal resources to help speed up Cancer Research. It is an awesome sight to see some of the ships are known for their prowess out on the open sea. They have and abilities able to carry out challenging operations and dangerous situations. The crews were at on the ships as they passed by the appreciative crowd. The impressive feat see ships can accomplish your big draw for those who come out here. Presses you most about saying that. Very hazy. We have a kron fours kyla grogan giving us a look at the weather today. And whats it looking like . Well, i mean, were looking pretty good in most spots except for at the coast. I by the recommened blue angel blue today. So im ready. Everybody else ready. I bet you are as well. I think were going to do pretty well. Want to start off with a look at air quality because we do have a little bit of a reduced air quality today. You can see yellow thats showing up in fremont and livermore. Not bad, though, across the rest of the day, but there is just a little bit of haze out there. And as we get into the weekend were actually to see things improve on sunday, expecting good air quality for everybody. So not that, but lots of blue skies out there, too. So while we do have a little bit of that not bad east and south where the spots we expect to see that moderate air quality current temperatures. Right now were at about 74 in fremont. 66 in alameda. 66 in oakland about 63 in San Francisco. If you move inland, though, you see livermore already in the 80s. Same story for fairfield now at 88 degrees. Petaluma now sitting at about 70. So whats happening is High Pressure and low pressure that dance that we do this time of year. Weve got an elongated High Pressure sitting off the coast. Thats whats been allowing our inland communities kind of warm up. But the low pressure that you see kind of hovering down south the southern california, thats the one thats going to finally start to nudge that out of the way. And by sunday, well start to cool down a bit inland. But today we could likely see 90 degrees again for you in concord livermore close to it up in the north bay about about 88, 70 in San Francisco mountain view. Hello to you about 77 degrees. I wanted to take us down to the tropics really quickly, just to show you that we do have a system right now thats just rolled past a root blast with the call, the abc islands, right, bonaire and curacao. And now it is just off the coast of colombia, venezuela. This is Tropical Storm julia. So the next named storm of the season, 40 Miles Per Hour sustained winds. You can see its moving west and its going to head over the water, pick up steam and likely enter into nicaragua as a category one hurricane as we get later into the weekend for cover rolls through the rest of Central America and then starts to dissipate. So the next nor named storm of the season to let you know that tropical season is definitely not over yet. Hurricane season still active. Take a look at your extended forecast will stay pretty warm inland today and tomorrow. Well start to break that down on sunday. And then a pattern change coming our way as we head into next week. It looks like its a relatively quiet week for us as we get into next week. Temperatures will be a little more seasonal for those of you inland. But pretty nice. California water agencies have written to the federal government, the letter states theyre willing to cut water use from the Colorado River by about 10 in 2023. The la times says that could lead to mandatory conservation measures because federal officials have demanded major cuts. California shares Colorado River water with 6 other states several times and mexico. Today were learning more about the man accused in a deadly mass stabbing attack on the Las Vegas Strip yesterday. Yoni barrios faces multiple charges. Police say he was wielding a knife and unprovoked. He attacked and killed 2 people and injured 6 others. It happened just before noon in front of the wind. Heres what witnesses had to say. This guy, are stabbed lady in front of me in here around players and structure of bridge and the girl from china helper. I mean, were just going to be careful. We have our brother and our host city to and just, you know, stay together. Barrios is being held in jail. He is facing multiple charges, including 2 counts of open murder as well as 6 counts of attempted murder. Right now, police dont have a motive behind us and unprovoked attack. But he is scheduled to appear in court later today. And were learning more about a group of inmates cleaning up a vacaville bike trail met, saved a womans life while she was being attacked at knifepoint. Police say the crew saw the 33 yearold woman being stabbed by a man on the alamo creek bike trail just after 10 oclock tuesday morning. The crew, they jumped in to help. Officers say they were able to subdue the suspect until police arrived. We have to tip our hats off to the inmates and the cdc officer extremely brave, courageous it. If they had not intervened, then this would have been a totally different case. The suspect was booked into the Solano County jail. Coming up in our next half hour. People are on edge after a serial killer murdered 5 people in stockton and possibly one in oakland. People who are and how star nervous sense some of the victims have been homeless. Kristin vartan has more. At least 3 victims. One who did survive were not house during the time they were attacks. Now the Stockton Police department did confirm with me. Theyre patrolling homeless encampments day and night as the manhunt for this potential serial killer continues. I made friends with security guard. I was so frightened because i thought that i would be sleep in the car bomb self. Cones up on the window so i can walk. People went to has called stockton home her whole life. Shes live on the streets out of her car several times over the years. And even though she runs an organization for the homeless, she fears she and her husband maybe unhoused again. This is why the potential of a serial killer on the loose in stockton, where almost 900 people live on the streets or in their cars hits close to home. That could have been me. Thats going to be me because youre already and now you have a population of people who are on the street. Unsheltered uncovered not only just been vulnerable to the elements of mother nature. Also be now to predators. 6 people have died in a series of 7 shootings. 5 took place in stockton between july to september of this year. The Stockton Police department has confirmed to fox 40 that they are patrolling homeless encampments day and night. The series of homicides is abnormal stockton. And as such stockton pd has stood up a task force, including his own resources and resources of external partners. Daley who used to work for the police department, people who are experiencing homelessness says Law Enforcement is doing what they can, but she says more needs to be done to help those were vulnerable. It was last week when 2 shooters were captured on Surveillance Video firing 30 rounds on the kings estate campus. A spokesperson for the School District says there have been up greats to that campus. A new cameras perhaps going in some locations where we didnt have full coverage may be upgrading some we are upgrading the radio system that that staff there used to communicate with each other. Whether, you know, its just normal communications running else. We are upgrading the lobby area and the reception desk to make that more welcoming and make it a protective. The district says that regular instruction has not resume. Instead, they are focused on love and healing. In the north bay road near park. Officers are looking for the drivers of 2 cars who hit 2 children in separate incidents and kept going. The first incident was reported wednesday morning when a driver hit a child who was on a bike crossing snyder lane at the Copeland Creek trail crossing. The second incident came just 25 minutes later and was also on snyder lane. They say that car hit another child on a bike while pulling out of a parking lot at jones. Middle School Officials say both of the children suffered minor injuries. A woman ended up in the hospital this week after she was attacked in San Franciscos castro district. Whitney peterson says she was walking into a business on Market Street on tuesday when a man followed her into the building and ripped her purse from her arm. Security cameras show the thief running out of the running out the door. But peterson wasnt going down without a fight. I just ran after him and i didnt think about how that was possibly dangerous. I i didnt think about it. And i know that might have been not the greatest, but i tackled him. Peterson says she almost got her purse back. But a getaway car was waiting for her attacker. She says she hit her head on the sidewalk when she was tackling the person resulting and a concussion. Shes filed a police report, but her pet, but her purse has yet to be recovered. And is it starting to feel like youre bumping into more people around the office these days . Well, thats because more employees are returning to work. Inperson kron 4 monday, june has more. More folks are returning to ke work in downtown San Francisco. Its not good match a nation. Most recent numbers tell us about. 39 1 of folks are coming back to the office. Thats up dramatically from where we were. Even just a couple of months ago. And almost 100 increase in employees returning to work compared to where the city was back in january during omicron says San Francisco chamber of commerce director of Public Policy, daniel hurts need in addition to actually having, you know, employees in the office space. Talk about some of the key indicators things are turning you know, one of the things that the chamber of commerce track says foot traffic in what weve seen is that foot traffic is up dramatically, especially in the downtown economic war. Oakland mayor libby schaff unveiled the citys latest efforts to support local teachers with Affordable Housing in the state of california recently funded 5 Million Dollars to continue their project. Teachers rooted in oakland. She says their goal is to lower housing costs for teachers, both working and getting their masters degree. She also announced an online expansion that reaches even more bay area teachers by matching them with landlords. Its an online platform, a virtual marketplace that matches Public School teachers with landlords that are willing to discount their rent just to help out in this moment where we know our teachers are underpaid but certainly not undervalued. Teachers rooted in oakland launched back in 2020. Governor gavin newsom is vowing to take more action to fight Climate Change. Newsom signed an update to a 2016 agreement alongside fellow west coast governors. It calls on oregon, washington, california, and British Columbia to transition to low carbon, invest in communities hard hit by Climate Change and create more infrastructure for electric cars, charging stations. But newsom, election opponent, republican state senator brian dolly has argued newsoms plants including his 54 billion dollar climate investment. Well only do so much. Well, its what he always does. He throws money at the problem and doesnt fix it. You know, every single issue thats out there. Gavin newsom does the same thing, puts out some, you know, press conference released spends money and its no results. The regional agreement comes as the state vows to ban the sale of all new gas powered cars within the next 12 years and go Carbon Neutral by 2045. Now lets talk about our forecast as we take a live look outside and downtown San Francisco from sutro tower. A Beautiful Day outside the sun is just shining. But of course, we do see some haze and some fog. Will people be able to see at least the planes flying from yeah, i think theyre going to see the planes just fine. I mean, alister may be standing on the Golden Gate Bridge were, you know, weve got the fog hanging out there, but im taking a look right now from the east bay. So were looking. Over the Berkeley Hills here, and you can see theres plenty of blue sky out there now. Yes, there is a little haze to but not bad. Just going to show you visibility wise that we have a window, right . So im going to show you this right now. San francisco, 12 mile visibility to look at what happens as we get later in the afternoon. Theres 4. 15, we get into 6. 45. Thats when that fog is going to roll right between those hours rates between the hours of about 12 to 4. Were looking pretty good in that just happens to be when the blue angels are going to be starting to get their flights going today. So were looking at about 70 degrees in San Francisco. Call it partly cloudy just because we do have a little bit of that haze out there. Winds out of the west about 10 to 15 Miles Per Hour. But i do think the sunshine win the day in the bay. No doubt about it right now. 67 in San Francisco. Cool out of the coast there where that fog is certainly hanging on and half moon bay. 57 degrees. 72 in santa rosa about 66 in hayward and already in the 80s in livermore in antioch, kind of a continuation of that warm inland temperatures that weve been seeing the last few days and well see them today and tomorrow as well before they start to cool down current wind out there about 5, 6, Miles Per Hour. So thats perfect a perfect to get the blue angels off the ground and this want to get you into your weekend. So today looking up for highs inland around those upper 80s, the 90 degree mark 70s around the bay 60s at the coast. Were going to stay with that on saturday. And then on sunday we start to cool down and things will change. So i think today and tomorrow, probably the best days for watching the blue angels fly sundays going to get a little bit trickier with that fog, i think in the morning might hang on a little bit longer. A woman from Fort Myers Beach in florida is now living with family in San Francisco after escaping Hurricane Ian kerry. Oreilly is a single mother with a one yearold. She moved to fort myers speech a couple of years ago. Her home, unfortunately was one of the thousands destroyed. Kerry is now staying with her sister who was in fort myers just days before the hurricane hit. They originally planned to ride out the hurricane, but are glad they made a lastminute decision to evacuate. Doesnt feel well really just it feels like im here visiting my sister and then ill go in and out of love. But we where are we going next . Kerry says her home didnt have insurance.
