Radar also indicates that rainfall is less extensive across the region, although shower activity is expected to persist on and off through the evening. The upper level low and associated surface low pressure centers continue to deepen off of the california coast. This system is on track to move inland across the San Francisco bay area by early evening. Winds will diminish as the surface low shifts inland this afternoon evening. As lingering moisture remains in place, scattered showers will remain possible through tonight and into saturday morning. A slight chance of thunderstorms is possible across the Central Coast this afternoon and evening in the unstable post frontal atmosphere. People who live in the area say theyve never seen the creek run this high. This creek has overflowed its banks in a number of areas, spilling onto walkways and trails. People have been flocking to this neighborhood to see the Alameda Creek and how much its raging. At the Alameda Creek regional park, we saw one guy try to get as close to the water as he could. But most people have been keeping their distance. Because not only is it raging at a high speed, its very loud. There is a huge concern for safety tonightniles canyon at mission blvd has been closed for some time. And thats because parts of the roadway is flooded. The Alameda County sheriff also closed niles canyon due to a mudslide. A number of people that came here today, did so after hearing about the traffic alert. People that have been living in this neighborhood for decades arent used to seeing this much water so its fascinating. Mandatory evacuations in orders in effect right now following a levee breach along the san joaquin river. This is happening near the rural town of manteca. South of stockton. The National Weather service issued a Flash Flood Warning in the area until seven. Tomorrow morning. Within the last hour we learned the breach was halted. But evacuations remain in place.
