Then just last week, she got arrested again for public intoxication. Then, to get arrested again, and she has not been formally charged, its been a real slap in the face not only for us and the work that we do, but for the family as well. Just another low blow. Thomas, who has been working with the dunn family closely since the accident, had already planned on talking about them on mondays panel. The thieves apparently struck homes along stanley avenue, montezuma drive, manzanita drive and two homes on view way. In all cases the suspect targeted empty homes and gained entry by breaking in through rear windows or doors. They also appeared to be looking for jewelry, laptops, tablets and personal electronics. Investigators believe that all of the burglaries were committed by the same people. Sotbased on the time of occurrence and the method that was used by the burglars we do believe it was the same group of people. In the case of the stanley avenue burglary, neighbors saw two subjects running from the area carrying property. They were described as being African American males in their twenties with medium builds wearing black hooded sweatshirtssurveillance video from the area may have also captured the suspects vehicle. Police describe it as a gray or dark blue suv possibly a toyota rav4 or nissan rouge. You know there are kids in this complexback in the patrol car on the way to the next stop they explain the importance of checking up on sex offenders. deputy 50 49 the main reason that ive been told and ive come to learn is that there is no identified quote unquote cure for sex offenders, that its a predilection, a predisposition thats part of their personality and the best way to manage sex offenders in our society, is to let them know that they are going to be checked on and that their behavior is going to be monitored you hope that will act as a deterrent, to help them to keep from reoffending and at another house call in oakland of another high risk sex offender. Starts out routine but then the deputies find something that doesnt quite add up. deputy 47 03 he was convicted back in 2006 of lewd and lascivious act with a child and hes been checked on before and found to be here. 46 17 hello maam we are looking for mr ivory buggs mother hes not here but you can come in, deputy does he still live here mother yes he does. Inside they ask the mother more questions and look around. deputy we are looking for any kind of illegal activity but we are also looking for signs of deception, such as they dont really live there,57 11 in a house we are looking do they in fact live there we are looking for clothes, for shoes that would match, mail to them, does it look like they actually stay theredoes he stay here every night . mother yeah. Of does he stay somewhere else sometimes he stays out with his friends on the weekend deputy , oh he stays with a friend, but he lives here. This is his address his mom didnt seem to mind the intrusion. mother Gwendolyn Phipps 45 16 thats what they have to do, thats what they have to do make sure they arent in the streets i guess being abusive to people i guessthe deputies leave but outside tell me they didnt see much in the way of mens clothes in that house. Which has them suspicious. deputy he may be just using the address and not actually living thereoutside the complex they run into the manager who has more information. deputy so you know about him right manager i do from megans list i do, i check megans list all the time, because my kids are here, so he doesnt live here but he comes and goes deputy 40 17 why do you think shes not telling us that he doesnt live here, manager she doesnt want him to go back to jail or something, she let him register in her house, deputy has she told you why she lets him register there. , manager she just said oh dont worry about him. No im going to worry about him because there are kids herethe manager says shes glad they are checking up on people like her tenant. sandy try 41 49 they should be checked up on more often. Its a concern for everybody ive told most of the parents here who he is and that hes on megans law and nobody likes it but you know we cant make him move. I hope they find him because if hes registered here than obviously hes not hereso what started as a simple compliance check is now a case that needs further looking into. The task force will do a follow up interview with that sex offender to try and determine if hes deliberating hiding his address from them or is just unclear that he can register more than one address with law enforcement. deputy 35 40 its not that hes not completely not here, but hes not here all the time which means hes somewhere else, which means we want to know where that isa maureen standup the deputies say in their experience roughly one in ten people they go to check up on are living someone other than where the california sex offender database says they are.
