Reporter Police Responded to 21 calls about fireworks going off just last night and had 12 calls the night before. Ive heard some fireworks going off in the area, but not as much as ive heard in the past. Reporter but still enough to keep officers away from other things. I think its a fair number. It definitely consumes resources. It consumes people and staffing and has to be addressed. We cant ignore it. Its one of the things our Community Values and our Community Wants enforced. Reporter one man who lives here says he hears fireworks all the time and can see explosions down each street. His neighbor says its normal, too. Right after 6 00, 7 00, they go until 10 00, 11 00. Reporter that doesnt mean everyone gets police involved. Normally people just mind their own business. Maybe thats me. I dont call it in. I would if i felt it was endangering anyone else. Reporter there are stiff penalties. The first offense will cost you 100. The second is 200. The third offense is actually 500. It took him three weeks to come up with this years blueprint for the show. Theyre building this to a map that ive given them and that map is all based on what i want, how i want it to be in the skies. Reporter a crew of about two dozen people is building the hardware and setting up barges full of fireworks. It will take them sunday and monday to complete. We are trying to make sure the public is safe, our crew and technicians are safe, and this can be a dangerous profession. There will only be three people on each barge. Theyll be working the show, running the computers and making sure that theyre functioning correctly. Reporter expect to see a wide varied of firework explosions. This will go about 600 feet in the air. A man was with two friends when he stepped on something and it suddenly exploded. The man suffered a severe leg injury. Emergency responders say he was taken to the hospital with a possible amputation. Tonight we know the blast was likely caused by a homemade firework. Police closed off part of the park while they investigated and searched for more explosives. They say they have no reason to believe this was linked to terrorism. There is some forensic evidence that indicates it was not meant to go off by somebody stepping on it. It may have not gone off at an earlier time and was just left there. At this time, we have no evidence that this is related to terrorism. There are no specific Credible Threats directed at new york or the july 4th celebrations. Officials say the victim under went surgery today and is in stable condition. Breaking news tonight, there are reports of a suicide bombing near a u. S. Diplomatic site in saudi arabia. Two people are dead. The bomber was headed in a car towards a mosque that is near a u. S. Console at. Most of them have moved offices to a new location. This is the 4th reported terror attack around the world this week. In iraq, earlier today, terrorists set off two bombs targeting civilians. 125 people are dead including 25 children. Tonight, we are learning about a memorial that will honor the life of a uc Berkeley Student killed in the bangladesh terror attack this week. She was among one of the hostages killed in an hours long standoff inside a bakery. She attended high school and began studying at uc berkeley in 2014. A vigil is scheduled to take place at the campus on tuesday at noon. She is one of three victims that attended college in the united states. They are focusing on isis ties. Happening now, police are looking for this man after a Domestic Violence incident this afternoon in gilroy. Authorities were called to a home on rancho hills drive. They heard an argument happening inside. As the officers tried to talk to the two, they say this man, 41yearold trinidad left through the backdoor and hasnt been seen since. Police recovered a gun from the house. In east oakland, two shootings left four people dead this weekend. The killers are on the loose. One happened yesterday afternoon where police found a man and woman shot to death. Then late last night, officers were called to sunshine court. Officers located two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene. The second taken to the hospital where he later died. Last week on vacation with her grandparents in myrtle beach, she snuck outside and tried to go swimming. The search and Discovery Hill haunts her grandmother. I was sitting there. She just screamed. Shes like mom, shes in the pool. I automatically just darted out, jumped in the pool, grand her out grabbed her out and started cpr. At the same time i prayed. Reporter a retired Army Special Forces medic happened to be staying next door. He rushed to help. So i checked her pulse. There wasnt one. There was no respirations. Her eyes did not react at all. Reporter in his tours of duty and current job, he has worked to save many lives and has a good sense of wholl make it. I wanted her to be residence us tated. It was a poor prognosis. Reporter he continued cpr for ten minutes with no signs of life. That impacted everyone at the scene. So when she took that breath, it was amazing. It was really good. I was thankful, thank god that he was there. Reporter her family estimates she had been under water for five, maybe even ten minutes. The take home here, dont let time be the judgment call, dial 911 and administer cpr no matter what. She only had to spend three days in the hospital. The doctors knew she was fine when she heard singing and did what she loves most. She popped her eyes open, looked at my daughter and started dancing. That was god letting us know that she understands. The people that ive worked on who were near drowning, i had never seen that much water come out of anyone. It came out of her and, you know, shes alive today. So its awesome. Its awesome to be part of that. Here are pool safety recommendations from the american red cross. Always supervise young kids closely near a pool. They recommend keeping kids in an arms reach. Never allow children to swim alone. Make inexperienced young swimmers wear a life jacket. Teach kids how to swim by signing them up for swimming lessons and make sure everyone knows how to respond to an emergency by learning first aid and cpr. Fresno county, a stretch of highway is back open as crews make progress on a wildfire. The fire has been burning since friday. You see some of these images here. Its a young great white shark about three miles off the coast of new jersey. Now, a massachusetts nonprofit is launching a Smartphone App so beach goers can report their own shocker sightings. If they do, there has been activity to report in california. It was just last month a great white shark was sighted off the beach in pacifica. Back in may, this video was shot near santa cruz. It showed at least ten sharks not very far from the shore. Police say 7 people were arrested during a country singers concert, Kenny Chesneys concert. The city enacts an ordinance that prohibits boats on the water. It may be put in place throughout the summer. There comes a point in time the boats, they dock on to each other. Weve profiled the problem in San Francisco and the greater bay area. Tonight we give you one more indepth look at the problems. Here is pam moore. We live at the epicenter of a national problem. 1 4 of the nations homeless live in california. In san jose, 7 out of 10 homeless are classified as unsheltered, meaning they sleep in cars, doorways, or tent cities on public land. The bay areas biggest city has more than 4,000 homeless people. Will 400 for each 100,000 residents. Oakland has 3,000, 128 per 100,000 residents. San francisco has the densest homeless population, more than 7500 men, women, and children are living on the streets or in temporary shelters. More than 1 3 have drug or alcohol problems and more than 1 3 have psychological or emotional difficulties. 28 have physical disabilities. Africanamericans make up 36 of the total, more than 5 times their share of the general population. The citys head count casts doubt on the idea that San Francisco is a magnet for people who are homeless. 7 in 10 said they were living in San Francisco when they became homeless. Nearly half of them have lived here for more than ten years. Most common causes were the loss of a job, a divorce, or drugs and alcohol. 13 said they were evictor the. Thats a fourfold increase over four years. The polite of the homeless is much more than just numbers and statistics. We have a closer look at who some of the people are without a place to live and the people who live their all to try and help the homeless. I have no family or anybody to rely on or to ask for help. Reporter meet sheila. Shes been homeless and living in her minivan now in san jose for the past two and a half years. Simply because i cant find a place i can afford. I can find an apartment, but it would leave me no money to live on. Im not willing to start sell drugs or do a criminal act. Reporter shes tired and frustrated. Ive seen a lot of people that are out right addicts and drunks getting housing and im wondering, why cant women and children out here get help. Its just really unfair. Reporter she tells me shes on several waiting lists for temporary housing and also finds help at various shelters but life on the streets is taking a toll, she says. Please give me a police station. I can a place. I can survive and be a good member of this community which i want to be. Reporter until then, she will keep moving from one parking lot to the next hoping that one of these days shell have a real roof over her head. Kron 4 news. Investigators are now trying to determine what prompted the drivers behavior. Update on the deadly alligator attack at a Disney World Hotel last month. The father of the toddler killed told rescuers that two alligators were involved in the attack.
