We still are hotspot free but lets check out the nimitz. I dont see any major problems but it is packed from 238 all the way into downtown. It is a 23 minute trip to get from 238 to 980 split. Three firefighters are injured after a large firefighter in San Francisco and that has left seven people without a home. We are following that story live and have the latest. Reporter the fire is out but now pg e is replacing a ruptured gas line right in front of the home. This is off of Market Street and hattie. This fire happened at about midnight and was so massive that it took about two hours just to put out the flames. In the process, three firefighters were injured including one firefighter who has a broken wrist this morning. When he was inside the home, either he tripped and fell or the floor gave out but he has a broken wrist and 2 other Fire Fighters have minor injuries. This fire happened at a home that was built in the late 1800s so there was no fire protection. That is one thing that made it very difficult. The other part, the more dangerous part was there was a gas line as i just showed you, right in front of the home. Here is that obstacle for the firefighters. The gas line was ruptured right where we enter into the building at the front door. There was a lot of fire throughout the building at that point. They had trouble making entry into the building. They had to shut down the gas line before they entered the building to put out the fire. Reporter thats gave the fire more time to burn and race to the home. Because this home was built in the late 1800s, there were no firewalls to prevent the fire from moving throughout the building than what it would do in a newer home. They believe this fire started in the garage area but they dont know what started the fire. Pg e first needs to clear the scene, replace the gas line and then arson investigators can go inside and find out the cause of the fire. At this point it doesnt look suspicious. As far as the 7 people that were displaced, five adults and 2 5 adults and 2 children and they are being taken care of by the red cross. Someone showed up at a San Jose Hospital with a gun shy gunshot wounds and later died. We are now trying to figure out what happened. We are live inside outside of the Regional Medical center. Reporter theres not a lot that police know about what happened here but they do know that someone drove to the hospital after being shot and died a short time later. I want to show you some video of what it looked like when investigators were still on the scene at the emergency room. The victim showed up at about eight the emergency room. The victim showed up at about 845 last night the victim showed up at about 8 45 last night and their vehicle was riddled with bullets. Very little is known about the events that led up to that kind identified victim driving to the hospital. Police say they are working to find a crime scene because i dont even know where the driver came from. The shooter or shooters responsible for this killing are still on the loose this morning. The woman known i friends and family as miss flo had been hospitalized since october 12 and died earlier this month Police Arrested 19yearold zachary cuen who is being held without bail. A private Funeral Service will start at 11 00 this morning at st. Pauls missionary baptist church. A townhall meeting will be held tonight to talk about the recent deadly officer involved shooting that happened in the city. A man was shot on friday after he shot a Police Officer in the head in the lake shore neighborhood officers had been told that there was a man at the Lakeshore Plaza Shopping Center that was making threats. They found the guy but then he shot at an officer hitting him in the head. The other officers chased him down and chased him and then he died of his injuries on sunday afternoon part of the injured officer is partially paralyzed on one side of his body. That townhall meeting about the shooting is at 6 00 tonight at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center in 1970. Three of the 4 students that were shot outside of a San Francisco are improving. 15yearold is still in the hospital but improving. Just one day after the shooting, classes resumed at the high school. There were extra police around the campus. Investigators are still looking for the shooter. This happened just after school ended on tuesday in the School Parking lot. Investigators believe the shooting was targeted. Breaking news from overnight, we have learned in the name of a Northern California Church Deputy that was killed while responding to calls of a disturbance. 31yearold jack hopkins was shot and killed yesterday. He was responding to a call in a rural ever you area not far from the oregon border. He had just joined the force last year. Hes the fourth Law Enforcement officer in california to die in the line of duty in the last two weeks. Investigators have not said what led up to the shooting but one person is in custody this morning. Search is on for a man who burglarized a home in danville. This happen late monday night or early tuesday. The side garage door had been left unlocked. The thief took computers and personal records. Investigators say the man did use those credit cards at a nearby gas station after the burglary. They believe he is driving a white city and. Today is the annual great california shakeout where there will be a state right drill to ensure that people are ready in case of the big one hitting. This is supposed to happen at 10 20 this morning. If you are writing on bart at 10 20, the trains will slow down. They will trigger the Early Morning air earthquake system as part of the drill. The trains will slow down to 26 miles an hour and they will make a public announcement encouraging drivers to be ready for earthquakes. The hayward fault may be worse than previously thought. A previously unknown connection has been found between the hayward fault in the rogers creek fault. The 2 faults are indeed linked according to this report. If they rupture together, it could produce an even bigger earthquake. This is the most direct information weve ever had that the 2 faults are connected. Either fault could produce a 6. 8 magnitude earthquake but if they are connected the earthquake could reach 7. 2 or 7. 4. These faults have a combined 188 miles and much of that is over densely populated areas. If the team is approved to move to las vegas, mark davis says they will stay in oakland for two years while they get ready. Want to start off with your reaction to the debate last night. If you listen to some of the analysts, they said both of them had some pretty strong showings. Who walked away with the better performance, in your mind. I dont think anybody actually wins these debates. Its more about making impressions, are you president ial enough. And uba states person can you be estates person . For an hour or so both candidates comported themselves well. I was actually the price at donald trump was showing discipline that he really hasnt shown. Talking about the [ overlapping speakers ] talking policy positions and math the numbers. As soon as Hillary Clinton three debate around him being put in puppet, donald trump took it personally and it seems like that was enough to take him off his focus. Again, i want to talk a bit about what the goal of these debates is, especially after the primary, each candidate is trying to attract new voters in addition to what they had during the primaries. Donald trump specifically needs to attract some demographics, latinos, africanamericans, women. I want to get your reaction to each of these comments. As it pertains to latinos, he was talking about building a wall at the Mexican Border. At one point he made the comment that a lot of those undocumented aliens are bad hombres. That lit up scioscia media last night. He cant seem to help himself with these phrases that dont resonate well. He continues to run a primary campaign in a general election. This is the thing that will be the final postmortem on his conscious. He has never moved into general election mode. At this point he is losing his base. In every democratic that mitt romney had done better in, donald trump is doing worse, amongst educated women, amongst men. Hillary clinton is doing better in all of these areas where she was doing poorly around distrust and her decency as a human being. Theres about a 69 belief that she is a decent person whereas about 60 say he is not. Even the negative the Hillary Clinton that we have seen are beginning to move in a different direction. At one point during the debate, it was part of his pitch to minority voters, that he is the better candidate. He made this comment, our inner cities are a disaster. You get shot walking to the store. They have no education, no jobs. I will do more for African Americans and latinos and she can. I was born and raised in your. He was offensive like this when i was in new york. I am for the projects. I am from the ghetto, so called. Ive never been shot or shot at or had a gun pointed at me. I have a phd coming from the ghetto. There are people like me throughout this country and people every day that make it. They beat the odds. We are the amazing story that is america. For donald trump to disparage that and talk down on that and to talk about africanamericans and latinos and women in the physically disabled and other groups any sort of procrustean ways, i think is really unfortunate work unfortunate. Another matter that i think will be important as a way that subgroups, latinos, women, in particular. , the physically disabled, a group that goes past every democratic. No one is talking about how they will demographic. No one is talking about how they will punish donald trump donald trump is facing a serious electoral punishment. The final quote that i wanted to bring up your and have your reaction on is when he called Hillary Clinton a nasty woman. From what i have read some a lot of operatives cringed at that because he desperately needs to attract the female vote. Hes losing among white educated women. Theres no group that hes actually gaining support in. This is as far as ive been able to detect. Hes alienating a large sector of the electorate thats mobilize. As much as women may not be inspired around Hillary Clinton being mean first being the first woman president , i think they have every intention since day one of supporting her candidacy, even though they have character questions and policy issue questions. To i have a sound bite i want to i have a soundbite i want you to listen to. He has been discussing over the last few weeks about how the election is rigged. He says theres going to be wide voter fraud that will impact the election. We have now heard from republican secretaries of state that managed the elections at the local level. They have an ounce this. Even he is running mate has said they will accept the results of the election. Listen to his respond. Do you make the same commitment that you will absolutely accept the results of this election . I will look at it at the time. Are not looking at anything now. I will look at it at the time i am not looking at it now. I will look at it at the time. He said that again. We have to stay tuned. He will look at it in 3 weeks. We are three weeks away. When will you make up your mind . Attaochu the sporadic and unstable character of donald that shows you the sporadic and unstable character of donald trump, i think. Speedup when you are inciting this level of mistrust we are already polarized. Theres a lot of polarization in our politics. This is pretty much how its been characterized since 1964, pretty much divided. Then you have ferguson of baltimore in minnesota and all of the cities with unrest around the social issues. As far as economic questions, we had the Bernie Sanders movement and occupy. These tensions are present. Then you throw on the gasoline to suggest that the political process is illegitimate because he explained last night, its because hillary is not qualified to run. Thats why its rigged because she is not eligible to run. He doesnt give a real example of this kind of fraud. Weve heard about 400 cases of fraud. There have been millions and millions of votes cast. If you detect 400 instances of fraud, thats not a real problem. To harp on this, and every day to say that the system is rigged, its rigged when you can go bankrupt with 1 billion in the become a billionaire. Thats rigged. And yet you benefit from that system and then you castigate the system. I think thats the real thing that will backfire on donald trump in the long run. One final comment since we are out of time, the debate is done. We have the elections coming up on november 8. Between now and then, what happens next is anything change in the mind of voters . And i dont think so. I dont think the undecided voters are affected. I think the way this debate ended with the issue of donald trump saying this is what you end up being another Obama Administration is a bad thing for him to say because obamas Approval Ratings are in the 50s on his way out the door. With Barack Obamas Approval Ratings high, the democrats are poised to do what george was the senior did and also the administration after eisenhower. Breaking news out of the east bay, an employee with the Oakland Police department has been arrested. We have more. Reporter this story just breaking so were just collecting information on this. Police say, again, this was a statement this morning, all of the allegations of misconduct involving employees are taken seriously. This is after one employee, they didnt and i defy they didnt identify this person, they say the criminal Investigation Division has arrested a sworn employee. It will be sent to the da to see if any charges will be filed. They say they take all allegations seriously. They hold employees to a high level of ethical and professional accountability and they say they will not tolerate criminal behavior. The Oakland Police department, as you probably know has come under scrutiny for the last couple of months. Theres a sex scandal that has been plaguing the area. Several officers as well as the contra costa sheriffs deputy have been charged with the sex misconduct scandal. They are not saying that this recent arrest has anything to do with the scandal but we will follow the story. As soon as we get more information we will let you know. A tightknit north Bay Community is coming together to mourn the loss of three young men who were killed in a car crash earlier this week. This was the scene that we showed you omicron morning news. This was on the kron 4 news. You can see this had hit a powerball and trees power pole entries. All three were killed. Chancellor argyle and his brother lance argyle were killed. They went to [ indiscernible ] high school in san anselmo. Every time i talked to him he was all about smiling and making others understand what he was coming from and vice versa. I just want to pay my respects to him. He was a great guy. They lost two sons in one accident. Chb is investigating of drugs and alcohol played a role. They do know that speed was a factor. A new controversial approach to homeless encounters, a Pilot Program that aims to keep the encampments in place but make them more livable. They plan to provide portable toilets and trash cans while they work on a longTerm Shelter Program. Their alligator 100 100 they are allocating 100,000 for this project. Some feel unsafe however. The program will last for six months. The city of oakland will officially commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Oakland Hills fire today. Now to the east bay where a man is in custody this morning after police say he admitted to them that he killed his mother in hayward at their home. Serves deputies found the mothers body, Patricia Carpenter in her home earlier this month. Her son am a 28yearold mario thomas was arrested tuesday in Washington State and is suspected of killing the mother. They found a suitcase from the 1950s that had 23,000 in cash in it. This home had been built in the 1940s. They had been in the home for a few years and they started remodeling. This is so tiny.
