As a result, he is banned for 10 months required to pay 100,000 in damages. It is 7 08 a. M. Two people recovering this morning after a double shooting in the east today. We have cell phone video of one of the victims who was shot yesterday afternoon. The shots rang out at 1 30 p. M. In the afternoon at a home on lambert road near Rolling Hills memorial park. There is video of the home. One of the man was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. The other had to be airlifted. Police have not said what led to the shooting. A relative of one of the victims said there have been problems at that home before. One person was taken into custody shortly after the shooting. Police have not said if that person has been charged. The woman at the center of a sex scandal plaguing Law Enforcement in the bay area is facing a reduced assault charge in florida. She no longer faces a lengthy prison term. That could have derailed the criminal prosecution of several Police Officers who were implicated in the sex scandal. Police decided to reduce the charge from a felony to a misdemeanor. She was arrested in florida august 293 days after she arrived at a rehabilitation center. Police say she did a Security Guard at the rehab center. The county da says that she will charge seven current and former bay area Police Officers as soon as she returned returned with those returns to the area to be a witness. She could head back onto the bay area as soon as tomorrow. Community members are getting a chance to weigh in on the search for a new police chief in oakland. The department has been without a chief for three months amid the sex scandal involving celeste. There have been several chiefs in charge of the department over the last few months. One chief resigned in june right after kron4 broke the story of the sex scandal. After that, three different people were appointed as chief in a matter of weeks. Now city leaders are looking for a permanent replacement. Calls a toxic and macho culture in the Oakland Police department. Community members attended a forum to talk about their hopes in the new chief and what he or she would be like. They listed the qualities they want to see in a new chief. A police chief who have compassion and a person who gets results. People are very passionate on this very sensitive issue. We hear a lot of pain. Also a lot of hope that we can find the right leader to lead the department into the future. David downing is currently serving as the acting assistant police chief. We h7just got an update about five minutes ago from the Santa Clara County Sheriffs Department describing the scene that happened here last night xi that led up to the shooting and the death of that person at the hands of a Santa Clara County sheriffs deputy. According hkto the sheriffs office, they say around 8 00 last night, they were called to a houseun to do a welfare check when they got there, they didnt see anybody inside. They knocked on eakee v window the doors. They were there for about 15 minutes. Several deputies went around to the back door. When and through the back door. When they went in the back door, they were met by a person n according to the Sheriffs Department, they warned him several times to put the weapon down. He did not. At that point, g7mone deputy fi at least one shot nstriking tha person. That person was taken to a local hospital where he kvclat died. There is no indication from the Sheriffs Department whether or not shots were exchanged betw. 8tn the suspect and the deputy. What we do know, is that it was an adult male that was shot and killed. The deputy was only described as a senior deputy. Someone who has been on the ,0 force for quite a while.
