There level is so low that they are stretched thin, just to give you a perspective. They say that on a it weekly basis, they have about 34010 hour shifts that they needed to fill. Its gotten so bad that they are considering pulling about 47 detectives from undercover unions. Get them off of those unions, at them in their uniforms and have them patrol the streets. When you do that, you are not preventing crime but actually reacting to crime. And thats why tonight they are actually having a closed door session between the city officials as well as the police union on how to tackle this rising crime problem. The problem continues to get out of controls, and, heres the leader of the union talking about how overworked those officers are. They are covering shifts on their days off, covering shifts on their weekend, and we could even have a dayshift officer that is exhausted and gets some sleep, but then will have to go cover in midnight shift. Heres the thing. The city might declare state of emergency to get those officers to work the different shifts, but the police union, we are seeing that could be not that they are against fighting crime but that could be against the contract of fighting crimes. There are contractual operations that the city needs to fill, and the even said yes, at one time, we were known as americas safest big city but they told me that those days are long gone as they continue to fight the rising problem. That comes to the city stealing with a spike in violent crimes. And the brothers have now been identified as arturo and michael ramirez. And they are surpassing the total for all of this year. And that big rig fire that is causing multiple cars to crash. And jackie is on the scene. Good morning. Im actually, this is one of the worst commutes in the bay area to begin with. Now, the accident occurred about an hour and half ago, but the big rig has opened up, and, and thats the cap of the big rig. And and they will get it offloaded. They are talking that it may be several hours before we are able to get this thing completely cleared. And, on the best, and, theres another one at hacienda so there are two accidents causing major problems for the 580 westbound commute. Have no 6 00 a. M. And, in other news were following, a former Correctional Officers under arrest tonight. Police arrested him last night phone felony assault with a deadly weapon. And, they made that arrest tonight. This is just the latest in a string of arrest, three deputies are facing murder charges for the beating death of a mentally ill inmate last year, and earlier this year to other correctional deputies were arrested on suspicion of assaulting an inmate at the san jose main jail. And, there is video of the animal roaming around the neighborhood. The skin disease could cause the animal to follow humans and seek and scavenge for food. And there is a warning, people, do not feed the coyotes. Hes been in the area for several weeks. And, this is south of sick your valley road and east of the freeway. The coyote is not a threat to people. They are trying to rescue the coyote and take it in for treatment. If you spot the coyote, take make a note on the Danville Facebook page. And police have found a white chevy pickup truck that they think is connected. The burglars may have been driving this car. People in the area have started using the next door to warn each other. Two days after her house was burglarized, they were casing that house. When will it get to, 20 or 30 or 40 or 50 . I will never understand that. There has been a spike in burglaries and people who live in that it neighborhood are very restricted. Police are investigating a deadly shooting in east oakland. It happened around 30 fifth avenue. Police found in man at the scene had been shot. Police found a car at the scene that appeared to be damaged by gunfire. The skaters believed to people were involved in the deadly shooting but they havent released any description of the attackers. Police dont have a motive. This comes one day after a 17 yearold boy was shot in east oakland and that buoyancy listed in stable condition. By departments across the state are stretched thin, tattling massive wildfires up and down california. Now theres an even bigger problem. Firefighters with cal fire say the state isnt paying them enough. They say they are being forced to work long hours and risk their lives for little more than minimum wage. And thats causing Major Staffing shortages at cal fire just as the wildfire season is speaking. There more than 10,000 firefighters battling fires on the front lines. The fires burned nearly 52 square miles and its only 35 contained. 34 homes have been destroyed and nearly 1900 other buildings are threatened by the fire. To the south bay, a judge indicated he would be willing to reduce the conviction for a man that had been convicted in a child probably case. We have a motorcyclist that is down and injured on the freeway and one of creek. This is south 680 in south main. Several vehicles involved here and its already jammed up coming out of concord. We are dealing with the backup 242, and lots of folks are stuck in the backups. So another hot spot if you use 680 south out of the east bay. And the usual pack up here and, the average drive time is 22 minutes from the maze over to the skyway. The rest of the area, not so bad. Oakland and san jose is just fine, and temperatures pretty mild, and we are heading our peak temperatures, 69 to about 70 degrees is what you will expect in downtown oakland, and and east bay we will see the warmest temperatures this afternoon with it 80s, and very comfortable shoreline temperatures. Anywhere from 70 to 76 degrees with San Francisco holding onto the low 60s. In the north bay, look for mid to upper 70s and, we may actually hit that 80 degrees mark. Wednesday will be the peak day for temperatures and that is when we will max out in the upper 80s for some, and then we start our downward ride it to the weekend. She was riding her bicycle around 930 on august sixth. She was on her way to meet friends when she was shot and killed. Police are searching for a motive and they are hoping to find witnesses and information that can help. And, if you heard or saw anything, call us. Police are offering a 10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Kingsburg high school is allowing five Staff Members to have guns on campus. The School District past that role in april but the guns have to be concealed and students dont know which teachers are armed. The superintendent said the school must be able to respond quickly if something dangerous happens. We are not trying to take the place of Law Enforcement officials who spend hours upon hours training for these types of situations. All you can do they are trying to illuminate potential casualties during that response time. And air force one is getting ready to take off from Andrews Air Force base. Three children there were killed in an Apartment Fire. Chicago fire Officials Say that a four yearold, a sixyear old and 83 monthold baby all died in this fire, and one man was also killed. Police believe there may have been a third car involved and they are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to contact police.
