This was sent in by a kron 4 viewer. And Jacqueline Jackie sissel live on the scene. Were being told by residents, this is the second fire since may in the same complex. You can see how large these complexes are out here. The fire actually broke out in the back of the complex, and we have video of what it looks like back there. What were being told is 7 you wants were affected, 5 completely destroyed and 14 people were displaced. Heres some pictures and some video that were sent in by the san mateo Fire Department. According to the Fire Department, they say at around 9 00 last night, thats when the fire first was spotted and called in to them. When they got out here, they quickly went from one to two to three alarms, had multiple units out here fighting the fire. But apparently the fire reached the attic and started moving from apartment to apartment. Now, the good news is nobody was injured but as i said, it was quite impressive as far as goes. In fact, we had a chance to talk to somebody who lived in the complex, and says it was scary. We come out and theres smoke everywhere. And at first it didnt look like it was that much of a fire. And then at like half hour or so later, we go back outside for a second and theres like fire coming off the roof, and then smoke kept like going and coming back, and going and coming back. So its mainly just like having trouble breathing some of the air. Reporter i can also tell you that firefighters were out here for a good portion of the night. Just making sure that this fire does not reignite. Obviously they wanted to make sure that the rest of the complex was safe. As i said, there was another Apartment Fire back here in may, and it completely destroyed at least one apartment during that. You can see the officer is visibly shaking, holding her gun up in her hand and bleeding from the side of her face. Officers responding to an assault call. The officer is an 18 year veteran of the force. She just finished taking a report and got out of the car, and the police chief says the man walked up to her and attacked her. Kron 4 spoke with a woman who witnessed it all. He flung a chain at the cop, and right as he swung that chain, she had her gun out and shot him. I didnt know that he hit her with the chain until after because i saw blood. The officer was wearing a body camera, and investigators are reviewing the footage. This is the 6th officer involved shooting in oakland this year, the 4th that was deadly. The uptick in officer shootings are related to the fact that assaults on Police Officers are up 70 from last year. Before yesterdays shooting, the last officer involved shooting happened earlier this month on 27th street and Martin Luther king jr. Way. A suspected armed robber was shot and killed after a police chase and attempted carjacking. A ballistics expert says the deadly shooting that happened at San Franciscos pier 14 appears to have been accidental. He says the victim, Kate Steinley was not targeted. James north testified in the preliminary hearing yesterday. Hes a Forensic Science consultant and former director of the sfbd Forensic Service division. He testified when the gun was fired, it was clearly aimed at the ground and not at kate steinle. He says she was killed because the bullet ricocheted off the cement pier and hit her. The suspects in the shootings is Juan Francisco lopez sanchez. He pleaded not guilty and previously he did he did fire the fatal shot but the gun went off accidentally, and that he had found the gun wrapped in a tshirt. His preliminary hearing will continue on september 3rd and a judge decides whether there is enough evidence for him to stand trial for murder. Concord, 76. 74 in livermore. Temperatures are beginning to rise now, and eventually in the south bay, well see san jose max out at about 88. Heres the temperature graph and you can see by noontime were looking at 82 degrees for the san jose area right around the airport, and then it will warm up into the upper 80s as we head into the afternoon. As for the rest of the bay area, take a look. We have future cast set for the 9 00 hour, showing us 60s and 70s at that point. And then as we head toward noontime, well expect 80s to really take over the map, and then eventually 90s for the inland east bay, and well be in the upper 80s to low 90s for the north bay and the south bay. People who live in the neighborhood say they are always on guard because drivers are always speeding in their neighborhood. Cars sometimes dont make the stop and nay pass really fast. Where i live, theres like a couple houses, theres kids always in the car passing really fast, like if they were on the freeway, and sometimes no cops go by there and stuff like that. He was taken into custody yesterday and booked on suspicion of violating probation as well. Pg e is under fire again as the company is being investigating for its safety record, the california puc revealed yesterday theyre hiring an independent expert to assist in a far reaching probe. A state auditor released a report found more than 4 million has been wasted. Cal transwas one of the agencies that was investigated. State highways are crumbling and theres cost of raising gas taxes for road repairs, but one cal trains engineered was out playing golf as much as possible. The state audit found that engineer was getting paid by the state and he didnt have very much to do. He was getting 4 1 2 hours a day in money over a 19 month period. A cal trans supervisor approved his time sheet. You have a supervisor not doing his job, and employees are playing golf and why not theres no work to do. California should cut 3500 redundant positions at caltrans which would save 500 million for road repairs. They found caltrans had lost as much as 900,000 for taxpayers because the agency undercharged Wireless Communication Companies for space they rented for cell phone towers.
