(laughter) it was in that long ago since i watched those numbers were a lot.squirreled all. if you haveo drive to work in you can buy new cars so you have the old beater they get to 8 mi. per gallon, it is tough. it is a strain, a lot of people. if we could transition to new technology that will make a difference of a long term. that is how we will meet the goals that i set of reducing the amount of oil we import by one-third by the middle of next decade. we can hit that target. we can hit that target. in the short term we need to do everything we can to encourage safe and responsible oil production. here at home. in fact last year america oil production was at the highest level since 2003. i want everybody to remember that if people ask and sometimes i get letters from constituents saying why don't we just drawn more here. we are actually producing more oil here, than ever. the challenges we only have 2-3% of the world's oil reserves, we use 25 percent of the world's oil. we can't just grow our way of the problem. it for serious about meeting energy challenges we have to do more than drill, the real solution is clean, home grown into a tree. your real solution is biofuels, there's a lot of work being done on that here. we have have natural gas vehicles, we have all lot of natural gas we can produce here in united states. making our cars and trucks more energy- efficient because of we use less oil, that reduces demand bringing the price down, you will see the impact that the pop. that's what will make a difference, that's why this is important. it turns out even though they don't let me go to the gas pump, i do have a lot of cars. as president. the federal fleet is enormous. we have doubled the number of hybrids in the federal fleet. i'm directing every agency to make sure 100 percent of our cars and trucks are fuel-efficient or clean energy vehicles by 2015. you will have a customer in the united states government. we want to make sure we're making clean fuel efficient cars and trucks.
