The attorney who is represent david dao says his client is still being treated tonight at a chicago hospital for injuries he sustained during the incident. He says the family wants the world to know that they are very appreciate of the outpouring of prayers, concern and support they have received. The 69yearold is a kentucky physician who said he needed to get home to treat patients. Dao was convicted in 2004 of several counts of obtaining drugs by fraud and surrendered his medical license, which he got back in 2015. catherine the incident is raising questions on the overbooking policy used by united. The department of transportation says that overbooking is not illegal. In fact almost every Major Airline often overbooks with the exception of jetblue. Com typically the normal way to handle an overbooking situation you negotiate all of this before anyone gets on the plane so the fact that they let everybody get on the plane and then asked people to get off is unusual but not completely uncommon. Officers say Cedric Anderson had accused karen smith of infidelity in their short marriage. Police havent confirmed those details. Smiths loved ones told investigators that she had voiced concerned about her husbands odd behavior. Smith said her husband had made threats against her but never mentioned shooting her. Today investigators explained what they found after searching the home. There was not a suicide note found at the house. I will confirm that investigators did find a note that we beleive to be his that talked about some things that needed closure, feeling disrespected, that kind of stuff. But nothing that would be specifically identified as a suicide note. Police say the couple married in january and separated in the middle of march. Smith moved out of their home and had been staying with family. vicki the 8yearold boy shot and killed along with his teacher at a San Bernardino school was born with a genetic condition and had survived heart surgery. Jonathan martinez had williams syndrome. Its a rare disorder characterized by learning delays and heart problems. His teachers said jonathan was a happy child. The boy died at a hospital after being shot monday by the estranged husband of his teacher, karen smith, who was also killed. Officials said a 9yearold classmate who was also shot is stable and expected to recover. A candlelight vigil for the victims will be held tonight at the Elementary School. Catherine Police in santa rosa arrested a man they say ran away from a stolen car this morning. Police say 39yearold Andrew Chaffer ran from the car around 9 this morning. Officers spent much of the day looking in the steele lane neighborhood between highway 101 and mendocino avenue. Chaffer crawled through a very long culvert to attempt his escape. He drew attention to himself when he came out with no shirt, no shoes and was soaking wet. Officers say a good citizen called police to tell them where he was. Chaffer was finally taken into custody just before 2pm. catherine were learning new details about the officer involved shooting that happened over the weekend in fremont. Police say the suspect whos now been identified as 24yearold roger perez of orinda died after shooting himself in the head. It happened sunday night around 11 30. When an east Bay Regional Park District officer stopped a car near the 7eleven store on fremont boulevard. Police say perez ran from the car with a gun and went into an alley. Officer say he fired the gun at police and thats when they returned fire. Today the Alameda County coroner ruled his death a suicide. vicki there is one less reckless dirt bike rider of the streets of San Francisco. That is after the recent arrest of a man for allegedly riding his motorcycle in a dangerous manner on city streets. Hundreds protested this morning at a detention facility in richmond used to house undocumented immigrants held by the federal government. Moments before the crash. The 18yearold driver tells me that he was asleep at the wheel. And, in fact, he didnt wake up before he first hit this fence. And, then barreled into the one behind it. This started last week when two people sent emails to the Mission District supervisor complaining that their dogs started vomiting and foaming at the mouth after a visit to precita park. Both of those emails were published on a local news blogthe complaints suggesting the dogs illnesses could have something to do with the fertilzer being used on the grass here. The citys rec and park Department Says theyve checked their records and show they havent used fertilizer out here for well over a year. They say they did rope off this section of the park and put down a standard grass mix which should not have any ill effect or any park goersincluding the 4 legged variety. Those out here i talked too all had different therories about what it could be. This park has always been notorious for giardia because the water doesnt drain theres a retaining wall there. So we dont let our dogs eat mud here ever. It might be mushroom toxicity. Heres some video of a mushroom growing at the base of a tree in the area. I talked to a local vet who says both of those are real possibilitieswith more mushrooms and cases of giardia,which is an intestinal parasite, cropping up with all the rain weve been having. But she says vomiting is the most common syndrome to present in the er. So it could be many different causesthe most common thing often times especially young dogs we see them eat something silly like a part of their ball that can get stuck inside it. Ruben gonzalez worked as a yard supervisor then became a night janitor. Police say his victims were children who were members of his family and lived in his pinole home. Investigators say the abuse has been going on for more than a decade. The 60year old was arrested thursday when police went into the home he shared with his wife, children and another family. Gonzales is being held on 46 Million Dollars bail. The west Contra Costa County School District fired gonzales the day after his arrest. catherine in the south bay. The murder trial for antolin garciatorres continues this week in a san jose courtroom. Hes the man accused of killing sierra lamar in 2012. Two witnesses testified yesterday in his trial. The other witness said lamar had bought marijuana from garciatorres. The defense has been trying to suggest that through mutual acquaintances. Lamar and Garcia Torres may have come in contact. Officials say the officer got out of his patrol car to stop a man illegally crossing the street. Thats when the two began arguing. A witness says the officer charged at the man. Threw him to the ground. And started repeatedly punching him in the face. She says she was in shock. And says the actions appear to show unacceptable conduct. The officer remains on administrative leave pending the investigation. catherine in florida a brazen robbery of a gun shop was caught on surveillance. Now police are trying to find whos responsible. The video shows the Truck Driving into the Sunshine State armory gun shop. The thieves then grabbed what they could and left in about 30 seconds. The truck had been stolen. And after the robbery, it was driven off and later set on fire along railroad tracks. Police say the ammo left inside was still exploding. So the Fire Department had to let it burn out. A man who works next door to the gun shop. Says this kind of crime is a problem for everyone. You can tighten security on anything, but somebody wants to get in, theyll get in. There are more guns on the street then you can count now, they dont need anymore. Gun store burglaries have plagued tampa bay in recent months. A similar incident linked a stolen gun to a murder.
