A closer look at the north bay and we see light rain showers coming down. It is moving into part of santa rosa and napa. Take a look at Half Moon Bay sustained winds and 12 in concord. This was part of a larger system to the east of us. That is why some are seeing rain and some are not. It is moving to the south of us. We are following breaking news where a two alarm grass fire is going on in menlo park. University avenue shutdown at purdue avenue and traffic is being routed around the area. So far no word of any word these buildings or injuries. Play shooting a man any major tourist attraction at the capital today. Reporter this is a google map you can take a look and see the white house over here, the national mall, and Capitol Building to the east. The shooting was near the metal detectors at the Capital Building Visitor Center which is right here in front. It is underground for security reasons. Back in 1998 a gunman shot and killed two capital Police Officers and september 11 reinforce the need for a more secure Visitor Center. Renovations were completed in 2008. Now more than 2 Million People visit every year. Diane papen shared these pictures with us of them being escorted out of the building with everybody else. You see the swat vehicles pull up. The building holds 4000 people at any one time. This is the busiest tourist time in dc with spring break. Brian cott has the story from washington. I saw everybody acting a little nuts and then i saw policeman coming through and officers coming out they were like sprinting and telling us to move it and get out of the way. Reporter a female bystander was wounded by shrapnel. Reporter adult male subject entered the capital Visitor Center. During routine screening the individual troop what appeared to be a weapon and pointed it at officers. The officer fired and struck the suspect was subsequently treated by medical personnel. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for treatment. Reporter Capitol Police say the suspect acted alone and was known to authorities as a frequent visitor. This comes as tourists flock to dc for the spring season. They gave us updates and they were very congenial and hospitable to us and made us feel safe. The Justice Department has dropped its case against apple over the encrypted iphone that belong to one of the San Bernardino terrace. The fbi says a third party has unlocked the phone. Gabriel slate joins us with this twist. Reporter this is a huge deal because we thought the only way this would and would be in the Supreme Court which wouldve been interesting because last week a bunch of apple engineer said they would quit before they were forced to unlock the phone. The fbi is not revealing who unlock the phone for them and has not said what they found on the phone at. Apple has not yet made a comment. They say he shot an employee in a face with a pellet gun. Dan is live and has more. Reporter brazen is what police say not just in terms of the alleged actions of the suspect but also of the employee who chased the suspect allegedly out of the store. Monday Morning Police arrested this man 24yearold kevin woodin for attempted robbery and assault with a Deadly Weapon for allegedly shooting a 7 eleven employee with a pellet gun. It began at about 8 30 at the 7 eleven on east 14th. He emptied his pockets and put live ammunition on the counter and told the clerk he was going to take what he had already taken a concealed in his pockets on his person. The clerk responded and told mr. Wouldnt take that out of your pockets and he did and he threw it on the floor. Reporter after he dropped the candy and food items he left the store but the employee followed him outside. Woodin turned around armed with what look like a semi automatic pistol it was actually a replica firearm that shot pellets and fired one shot from about 20 feet away, striking the clerk right near the eye in the cheek. Reporter this is what the pellet gun looks like and this is what the real thing looks like. When officers arrived on scene they say they saw wooden walking down the street. He was walking down east 14th street during this replica firearm in his hand. He threw it into the bush when he saw the Police Officer reporter the officer took woodin into custody. If he wouldve still had the government in his hand had the gun in his hand it couldve ended differently. Reporter the store employee is expected to have a surgical procedure to remove the pellet from his face. Arraignment is scheduled for later this week. A huge weapons bust in the east bay has landed two people behind bars. The Sheriffs Office posted this photo. They say they did deputies served a search warrant on a home in bay point and found 18 weapons including assault rifles and shotguns, magazine clips and 1400 rounds of ammunition. A 54yearold man was arrested and is being held without bail and a 46yearold woman also arrested and arraigned being held on 200,000 bail. A woman who mightve been crawling on 280 in San Francisco has died after being hit by more than one car. This is video from our helicopter partnership with abc 7. Witnesses say she couldve been crawling in the center lane. She was pronounced dead at the scene. No vehicles had stopped. Investigators are trying to find out how many of them had hit that woman. Still ahead a deal to raise californias minimum wage to 15 an hour. In a bay area coast guard crew making a big bust at sea on a homemade submarine. Governor brown has announced a deal to gradually raise californias minimum wage to 15 an hour, that would be the highest in the nation. A labor dispute at the port of oakland has closed one of its five terminals it is the Oakland International container terminal. The dispute being addressed through arbitration. Caltrans wants to demolish the remaining piers of the old bay bridge. They removed one of those peers last november using explosive charges and now they want to implode the 15 remaining piers at the cost of 130 billion. The Police Lieutenant said the concerned citizen did exactly what they want you to do and that is observed the suspect, do not approach, keep an eye on them and let police get here and do their job. When they approached the suspect he took off running towards the back of the store at this point police are not saying how many officers opened fire or what caused them to draw their weapons in the first place. They are not saying whether or not they found any weapon on James Jarrard. He is in Critical Condition at the hospital. They do consider him taken into custody. I received a text message from the mother of the eightyear old boy, joshua, who was shot in the neck on friday. Police found the man wanted of the shooting of an 8 yearold boy in concord. This afternoon they captured james jared after a shooting in a shopping center. A Capital Police officer shot and an juried a man from tennessee. That man pointed a gun at an officer. Hes been identified now as larry dawson, known to authorities. According to to Court Documents last october, the same man had an outburst in the house of represents claiming to be a profit of god. He was charged for assaulting a Police Officer.
