Mmmmmm hmmmmmmfor those who were in this water, emergency crews worked to rinse them down. Fearful of the sewage, gas, or oil that may have mixed into the flood area. This morning, the Santa Clara County Health Department is warning people about the dangers of coming into contact with floodwaters. That water may contain Hazardous Materials like raw sewage, household chemicals and animal waste. The Health Department is urging people to thoroughly wash any part of your body that has come in contact with the water. Also, avoid eating any food that has touched the water. And do not let your Children Play with any toys that have been submerged in the water. Happening now. As evacuees got off city buses that shuttled them to this overnight shelter, you could see very somber looks on some of their faces rather than wondering aif their neighborhood would flood, they already knew it had. I had to walk to the neighbors in the water and then we got rescued by the boat. The gym at James Lick High School which is on a week long break from classes holds just over two hundred cots. Later tuesday evening the red cross also openend a second overnight shelter at Evergreen Valley High School. Some of the people left with their clothes were wet, so we were able to bring in the Salvation Army to help with that. Some arrived barefoot. Volunteers have helped distribute racks of clothing and stacks of towels. I had my son in school and i went to go get him back out because i felt like maybe the school was getting flooded too, so i was really uncomfortable, so thats when i was like, im gonna go get him out. and thats when the water was like to my waist. A state parks ranger and rescue swimmers were unable to reach the teen monday. They said she was swept into the water by a rogue wave. Alvarez was walking with three other friends, along the shore near schoolhouse beach. When it happened. This helicopter used a long line to hoist her out of the water and take her to a hospital. We werent expecting that at all. We have flood insurance. I didnt want to pay for it, but i have to because i have a mortgage. So im really glad i have it now. I have it now. They do not expect the flood waters to recede until at least later today. A Water Rescue Team from menlo park is heading to Santa Clara County today to help with rescue efforts near coyote creek. With the recent rainfall and water rushing from the Anderson Reservoir, there is now heavy flooding in Santa Clara County. All team members are specially trained in swift water rescue, boat operations and will be working with and from helicopters during the flooding. He would have been able to identify that the tree was a danger. Sot i dont think the wind was a huge factor in this one the wind wasnt blowing. It may have been structurally weakened by a previous wind storm. Billiy mitchell lives in this house with his parents on peach tree avenue in vacaville. All three of them were home late sunday afternoon, when the tree collapsed. Sot sort of one of those things we were expecting for a while. Mitchell says the tree is about 60 years old. And partially broke off years ago. He says his family knew the trees time was running out. But not that it was perilously eminent. Sot it just kept growing and we didnt have the money to take it down, so this is kind of the only way it could happen, was for it to fall down. Thankfully, not on top of anyone. Also in that bag you should include any immediate personal items that you may need like a change of clothing and toiletries. Wind gusts knocked down a 50foot tree which fell on her. A neighbor spotted her and called an ambulance. Teresa had brain surgery monday and now her parents say they can only pray for her recovery. The 14member team is helping with water rescues near coyote creek. The team is specially trained in swift water rescue, boat operations and working with helicopters. This is whats left of a caltrans workers truck after a massive tree fell on it in nevada city. The worker says he saw the tree falling as he was going down the road. He says he had no way to stop so he just layed across the seats as the tree smashed into the windshield. Worried the fuel tank in the back of the truck might explode, he crawled out of one of the windows and called for help. The worker walked away with only a few scratches. People across the sacramento and san joaquin valleys are dealing with rising waterlevels this week. About 500 people in manteca were forced to evacuate their homes monday night after a levee was breached along the san joaquin river. Crews are working to repair that levee this morning.
