Tracker shows a lot of activity, most to the north but a lot offshore heading our direction. This is a impasse that was passing over that i came to work, and we have more on the way. We are going to see that throughout the morning and in the afternoon when it intensifies. Right now we have some rain falling in novato down towards sausalito. The east bay has some showers through the santa monica valley. Actually the tricity area has showers their credit bit. The Richmond San Rafael bridge is wet again into the county and it looks like you will be driving into some of that light rain. We have showers near candlestick and towards sfo, not raining too bad but just off the airport property. Here is east valleys again and we are looking at showers, heavy at times, and pockets, from santa all the way down. We have some rain falling. We have the san mateo bridge and some the dunbarton bridge. We have all of this moisture heading our way so you want to keep tuned to kron 4. Deshawn said theres a problem with the ticket machine and the manager eventually told him to count the tickets. Imagine you have to count 1000 pennies at work, would you like to do that . Police are hopeful that someone will recognize him and help cracked the case. Deshawn tells me the man in that video came with his family for a large party. Police are looking for a of Armed Robbers who hit a mall in san mateo. It happened over the weekend at the Hillsdale Shopping Center. Kron 4 Charles Clifford had details. Reporter according to the Police Department a man and woman resembling the sketches tried to rob a retail store inside the hillsdale mall this past saturday, around 6 30 in the evening. The suspects apparently forced an employee into a back room at gun and knife point. And then they asked where the safe was. According to police, the store didnt have a safe. When the suspects learn this they left the store without taking anything. Police arrived on scene and searched the area but they couldnt find the pair. It was crazy. Reporter hillsdale is very upscale and news of the attentive robbery took mall goers by surprise. I been here for ten or 12 years, and ive never seen that happen. Reporter the 1st suspect is described as a black female, 5 10, skinny with black here tied in a bun. Shes approximately 60. The 2nd suspect is a black male also about 60, six and a happy talk or sunday with sword and curly saltandpepper hair, wearing a zip up sweater with jeans. Another big story we are following, a catastrophic computer outage, thats a dmv officials are calling a computer failure that wiped out most of the computers across california. It was caused by multiple hard drive failures in both primary and backup systems. The dmv said they maintained a discovery 80 a discovery recovery system but is not handled to recover a outage as big as this. The dmv thought the problem would be fixed by yesterday but problems are taking longer than anticipated. The dmv said the computers were not hacked or targeted but have not exactly explained what went wrong. A violent confrontation with Police Caught on camera yesterday afternoon at a light rail station in sacramento. You can see a man wearing a black shirt on the ground wrestling with officers. A woman can be heard screaming as well. The man in the black should was getting off the train and police asked him if he paid for his ticket. He ignored them and kept walking. Police then yelled at him to stop. And then turn physical as he hit an officer in the face and then hit another officer three times in the face as well. That officer was hospitalized. Lawyers for 22yearold Garcia Torres shown here have asked the court to allow evidence they will show that sierra lamar vanished on her way to school in march of 2012, ran away from home. Court documents from grand jury testimony contain abstracts from a spanish class notebook in which sierra is said to have written how she hated her life and was headed for San Francisco, and she wanted to run away to las vegas or hollywood away from her problems and lay on a reach and chill. The defense will argue this is a missing person case case. What the defense is going to say is that, we have evidence here to suggest zero wasnt a happy teenager, that she wanted to run away, and they want to develop this to say that is not Garcia Torres that killed her but she ran away from home and has yet to be found. A big story, a chp officer injured today after being hit by a car during a traffic stop is recovering and the good news is, is expected to be okay. It happened at the corner of n uppercaseletter montana street in San Francisco. The officer was part of a Task Force Unit surrounding a stolen car. The driver of the car tried to take off and ended up hitting and dragging the officer. Officers then shot the driver who remains in Critical Condition this morning. The incident is still under investigation. For your help, its a painful disease that normally affects kids but in recent months it popped up at three universities, and now there is a growing concern that it could spread to campuses right here in the bay area. We talked to an expert about what you need to look out for as far as this disease. A teacher in the east bays a lottery job over political views and is now firing back, suing to get her job because she said she was kicked out of her classroom for taking part in an antinazi rally. They are more on the way outside of the golden gate. East bay has scattered showers around diablo but nothing terribly organized and southbay dry for now. Santa cruz mountains expect to get hammered pretty hard but a lot of moisture will get hung up in the mouth before it finally reaches san jose so the total is in san jose might not as impressive as elsewhere around the bay. By 9 00 we see some rain overhead by the peninsula getting into portions of the east bay as well. Morgan hill, south bay commute, pretty quiet from cochran to guadalupe parkway, north 101, the average drive 23 minutes. Police are looking for a. Armed robbers who hit a popular area in the Hillsdale Shopping Center. Police released sketches. It is a man and woman who tried to rob a store in the mall around 6 30 saturday night. They forced an employee into a back room at gunpoint and asked where the safe was. When the attack is found out there was no safe, they left and were gone before police arrived. Ive been here for ten or 12 years and ive never seen that happen. Both of the robbers were about 60 and the woman was described as 510 in skinny. The man was described as 66 and slender. A man hit by a car while trying to run across interstate 680 in the east bay has died. This happened during the commute last tuesday. Heres a video from the scene of the accident. A couple tried to cross the northbound lanes near a valley offramp. They had pulled over after reminding another car and they tried to run across the freeway but were hit by a car. It is not clear why they ran across the lanes but the woman is still in the hospital expecting to survive. November 1 marks the 1st day that on fires will not be allowed at ocean beach. The shooting happened to the afternoon near saxton and montana. Three officers from three different agencies had followed a stolen car. Crews will be moving a bus stop as part of a massive Improvement Project. The stop at southbound venice and vallejo streets will be moved to the intersection of venice and green streets. That is to create a left turn lane at rod way. Most of the outer left turn lanes will be moved over the next 16 months. The project is expected to be done by 2019. Here is Storm Tracker 4, a few showers moving to santa rosa. There is more rain offshore. Looking up the coast of San Francisco and ocean beach, looks like some rain is about to move into daly city. And scattered showers are showing up at the san mateo bridge we have a lot of rain started to come in. The main take away about todays weather is scattered showers for the morning commute with more intense and widespread showers for the evening. Right now the isnt a lot to talk about but if you happen to be in a community where these little bits of wet weather are overhead, you are dealing with rain this morning. That will be the take away tip. You are going to drive in and out of areas that have rain. It is scattered so you will run into it now and again. San Francisco International airport is dry. It did rain overnight there and we have clouds overhead so we are expecting delays. In the meantime they are doing alright. Wide view on satellite radar, a lot of activity to the north, this area here is what we are watching carefully. You see it is all light and scattered at the moment. We had a nice batch overhead while you were sleeping so a lot of committees are waking up to wet roads and sidewalks. The active rate falling right now is scattered but it will get organized and more intense through the day. You have to deal with this kind of stuff during the morning commute. In terms of total rainfall, we expect futurecast at 11 00 we get a reading for the entire night. Anywhere from half an inch in the north bay to maybe a third of an inch in San Francisco and the urban areas, and in southbay possibly a quarter inch for places like san jose. Fastforward the friday afternoon because the storm is expected to linger that long, and the totals jump jump. Overnight to tonight and tomorrow morning we get maybe an inch to an inch and a quarter, maybe even more for places like oakley and oakland. In the south bay san jose updating looking for possibly three quarters of an inch falling there. Santa cruz mountains will get hammered pretty hard with this storm system. So a lot to track. Safety concerns in the north bay after a 72yearold man was robbed outside his home yesterday. Police believe he may have been followed home from the bank. Two men robbed him at gunpoint and took his watch and jewelry and they were seen driving away in a silver honda civic with green paper plates. Police are releasing pictures of a car wanted in a hit and run. It happened monday morning. These pictures were just released yesterday. Police say a city sevenyear old woman was riding her bike on east fremont avenue when she was hit by a white acura. The driver left the scene. The car is a white 20092014 acura tl x or il asked. It had damage to the front windshield. The woman hit is still in the hospital and has life threatening injuries. The country county Sheriffs Department substation is now open in rodeo. It is on mariposa avenue and is there to enhance safety and wellbeing as well as enhance relationships with the community. Santa rosa getting wet weather right now, a few bits and pieces of wet weather north of petaluma but nothing on in petaluma proper. The bay bridge in San Francisco might see light showers at the moment. The east bay is sort of hit or miss. We have some showers impacting committees along highway four around pittsburgh between antioch and concorde and a few showers near mount diablo. Byron may be getting some shower activity as well and it looks a little wet at the ultimate pass east of livermore. Dont Pay Attention to the bits of yellow, that is the winmail firing up the air around the area. In the lower portion of the bay we have some showers between hayward and fremont with a few scattered showers east of san jose but nothing substantial in the south bay. What we are watching is this here getting ready to make landfall and we will be tracking that over the course of the next couple hours and throughout the day. By 6 00 for your commute home we have a nice line of rain expected down the east bay shoreline, moving his way toward east bay valleys through the course of the evening commute with more wet weather coming onshore. A brief break towards midnight, north bay getting hammered at that point. Again the latest thinking is maybe half an hour to an hour we will see the bulk of that making its way onshore and thats when the roads for you will become more dangerous. At the Golden Gate Bridge for the moment its nice and dry but we saw rain showers outside the gate so we expect this to change over the course of the next half hour. Today as you look ahead we have rain, and the expectation will be all day long so expect a morning and evening commute that is wet. Next chance arrives late saturday into early sunday and monday and we are for that to be light and impacting the north bay more than anyone. A man shot had been upgraded to serious condition. The shooting happened today near saxton and montana street. Three officers from three agencies had followed a stolen car from San Mateo County to San Francisco. A chp officer approached the car but the driver took off and hit and dragged that officer. The officer managed to shoot the driver, who was hospitalized with life threatening injuries. The officer who was injured, good news, expected to be okay. One of seven people shot in a driveby shooting in oakland over the weekend have unfortunately died. The shooting happened saturday on 77th and an cox avenue. The six others shot are still in the hospital this morning. A berkeley teacher is suing to get a job back after she said she was fired for her political views. She let this protest of neo nazis in sacramento earlier who were holding a pro donald trump valley trump rally but eight fight broke out between another group. The teacher was stabbed. But she is placed on admin leave after the protest. She said someone at the protests sent an anonymous e mail to the school threatening to hurt students unless she was fired. There administration is retaliated against me and taken action against me for my political views and might political affiliation and activities that i participated in outside of class.
