Afternoon sunshine, thats what we can expect today, temperatures warming up inland with mid70s by the day, it will be picture perfect. And maybe see some light showers, it will be light in nature, not a lot of accumulation. Just like last week it will be enough perhaps the roads will be wet when you do your drive both during the morning and the evening for thursday, particularly. But wednesday, through friday is when well see that, wednesday night through friday morning, well keep an eye on that forecast and walk you through that 3daytime frame. James were keeping a close eye on the bay bridge with the changes at the freemont street off ramp and the closure of the exit to fulsome street were concerned about the impact so farther pretty light. Were not seeing any problems, but despite the fact that this hasnt backed up yet, the bay bridge has. We are already backed up into the maze, the lights have been only active now for about 20 minutes or so but thats been enough time to push the backup on the 880 ramp. Its topped ton to the top of the ramp. He is backed into the maze at least on to the 80 fly over. Perhaps this is a move on their part to keep the traffic light on the upper deck. Looking at the bridge and the highway 92 commute, still doing pretty well here. Though, yesterday, we saw this bridge start to backup at 6 45 in the westbound direction. The commute seems to get earlier for westbound 92. Lets get more on that ramp change now. The affect of traffic that wants to get on the streets, jackey there to take a look at the new configuration. Hi. Good morning. Well the good news is it is 6 00, we havent seen anyback up yet, i think also we may start to see the backup a little bit later because of that reconfiguration. Im at the street exit, you can see cars coming off the bay bridge. This is all normal. They did have this exit completely shut down last night. When you get to the bottom of this ramp things are going to change for commuters. When you get to the bottom of the ramp. You used to go right onto fulsome or left onto freemont. You can no longer take that right hand turn, you can only make the left hand turn onto freemont. That means all the traffic coming off the bridge is now going to have to make that left turn, thats going to be the case until march because of this construction. We had a chance to talk to the transportation authority, we talked about what they are going to be doing over the next few months. The safety improvementings include a walk way where there isnt 1 now, a bike lane as well as a traffic signal, meaning it will only turn red when someone is waiting to cross the intersection. As i said last night, they had the freemont exit completely shut down, they reopened that about 4 45 this morning as you can see from this live shot, you can see traffic is flowing down the ramp nicely. You can no longer make that right turn it is only going to be a left turn all that traffic is going to start backing up at that light we anticipate seeing that as the backup goes along. Hopefully that will get a little better. Again as you said this is going to be the case for the next few months. We have a map on our website right now. At the moment, it is nice and clear out there for a good pit of the bay area. Temperatures are still in that typical upper 50s. Napa54. Were seeing low 60s in the east bay, and a mix of low 60s and upper 50s for the south bay and peninsula. Lets take a look at the area. You can get a hint at whats to come. It is well off to auronorth, but lets focus on today, lets focus on temperatures for this afternoon. By noontime. Widespread 70s, you can see yellow pretty much all over the map. The orange comes into view as we head towards 3 00, that will indicate 80 degree weather, it is pretty widespread for all of our valleys north bay, east bay, south bay, well all get in on the action. Heres what it is going to look like for you. In the east bay, low to mid80s for the delta, low 80s anywhere else. In the south bay, upper 70s to low 80s. San francisco, 71 degrees. Heres that wider view, this is the system out in the pacific bringing rain for the pacific northwest, a cold front will kickoff with this and come our way, and again the timing of that puts it to about wednesday night into thursday, well get some light rain in the north bay, the chance of some rain will actually spread bayarea wide through thursday, and maybe even lingering around to the beginning half of friday. Thats what we have to look forward to. Wont be a lot of rain, well take whatever we can get. By saturday and sunday it all dries out. So the forecast, thats the way it looks, lets find out how your commute is shaping up. Weve been tracking the bay bridge, how is it looking . It still looks pretty good, james. Traffic still light enough at the west end of the bridge we havent seen any impact from the closure of the fulsome street portion of the freemont street ramp. Now all traffic has to make the left hand turn. 1 of the problems there is that it meant there were 3 lanes getting off the bridge and not funneled onto freemont street northbound, thats the concern is that freemont street wont be able to accommodate the traffic. Dont forget northbound crossing mission, there is a construction going on there that often ties up that street northbound and backs up traffic on to the ramp. It seems to be handling it okay. That has not stopped traffic from backing up at the bay bridge, where the westbound ride is already slow through the maze. Westbound the drive time at about 22 minutes now, and the backup continues the grow. Looking at the bridge commute, still pretty good here all though we did get an early backup yesterday, it is holding fairly well. 13 minute drive times currently, but a wind advisory in effect for the bridge and highway 101, no delays either northbound or southbound and getting across the bridge, here at the plaza, still very light traffic westbound. Look at those blue headlights. Lets take a look at the ride on interstate 80 update some drive times u . ofor you just 1 minutes. The valley looks good, even the ride southbound hasnt backed up yet but it is very heavy with about a 39minute drive time currently from the westbound commute. Still just 18 minutes northbound for 101 from 80 to the expressway, and it is still an under30 minute down to the Golden Gate Bridge from 101 southbound. Now lets talk about whats to come because there are changes on the way, heres the wider view the satellite and radar perspective showing that giant low pressure system way out in the pacific, bringing wet weather to washington and oregon, extreme northern portions of california. There is a cold front going to kickoff of this system, that will be impacting us here in the bay area, by about wednesday night. In fact as we switch perspectives here and look for our future caste, we have the clock set for 10 p. M. On wednesday, you can see potentially extreme portions of our area seeing light rain. Clouds everywhere else. Push the clock forward in time, maybe get some light showers here, the cloud coverage get a little more extensive. By about 6 00 in the morning, well look for some north pay showers and light showers here for San Francisco, at least the top half of the peninsula, by about 9 00 in the morning. During that commute to work, you could see some light shower activity. Bring the umbrella, you may just need it. By noontime, most of that cold front pushes off and well be just left with a chance of a light sprinkle or 2 throughout the rest of the day on thursday and into the early portions of friday. Thats what were expecting with this system it wont be a huge rainmaker but well take every single drop that it will bring us, thats wednesday through thursday, and the sun returns and so does the warm temperatures. Lets start here with the westbound ride, weve been watching also the west end of the bridge at the freemont street off ramp so far it is not backed up. But the bay bridge toll plaza is perhaps preemptively, theyve slowed the lights and were already backed up into the mcarthur maze. And this is backed up into the toll plaza. 92, the san mateo bridge, seeing the break lights come on, and drive times pushing over 16 minutes now. And it is typical to see the drive time go from 18 to 20 to 22 minutes when things really get slow and were heading that way. Heading to the Golden Gate Bridge, and easy ride still, there are problems, ill show you that in a moment. Across all the lanes in early backup before 7 00, and it is just beginning to slow now on 580 westbound heading towards the toll plaza. All right, lets take a look at the east bay as we update some drive times for you. 21 minutes to berkeley, thats a pretty good jump. And were already talking about 40minute drive time here for westbound traffic on highway 4 an antioch slower than usual because of Early Morning problems long cleared. Here it is a 45 minute drive time, were starting to pick up slowing on 680 southbound from dublin. That drive time still just 19 minutes, it is not bad at all. And clear to the Golden Gate Bridge, a little slowing, heres the accident at washington, East Washington boulevard and thats 1 of the reasons the traffic is slowing even before you get to 116 on 101 southbound. Police say that a woman claims that she was sexually assaulted after the suspect was walking a dog, struck up a conversation, and walked with her for several blocks.
