News. Hello this is o.o.s. The radio show that broadcasts from the middle of the news show I am. Now we've talked this week about the demonstrations in Iraq and at least 18 people have died since Tuesday are in place today but protesters are defying them and security forces have fired live rounds our colleague from b.b.c. Arabic will help us understand why the situation has spiraled We've also been hearing from people in Iraq and outside Iraq who have been trying to get in touch with people in Iraq while the outside source whatsapp number we hear those messages to in the coming hour but 1st let's head to Paris which is where we've just got information about this fatal knife attack at the police headquarters information is just filtering in and so are some pictures on the screens on my left the police have cordoned off the area outside the headquarters I can see policeman patrolling there there's not much else happening maybe there'll be a press conference and other info other statements being issued by the officials as we go through the program but what we know at this point is that the attack happened in the courtyard of the building the attacker was shot dead by the police he hasn't been named and there's been no official statement yet we also are being joined now by Mark me a senior reporter for Radio France and he is near the scene thank you so much for coming on to the program tell us what do we know up until now. What we know now if . They were not attacked may be one t.m. Here in the press and the police force Paris and there were men. Were attacked his colleague around 1 pm was a nice so. Today's diets and that's the that's yet acted 3 of the police officer inside the place secured all the people died so the attacker go downstairs in the cold not a police officer shot him to death so. There are 56 inch. People right now we don't know exactly what happened but. Because Perry's said this is not a terrorist attack this is maybe an internal conflict between the suspect one of the victims maybe it's something like that but now we are waiting for official statements from. Mr Delong tell us the Strongs and we do not know what could be the motive for that attack although the 4 people killed by the attack did he have any personal grudges or enmity against them yeah we think it's something like that because they are right a lot of police officer are. Out of the suspect somewhere in Paris or New York Paris and they are looking for some evidence to be sure that it's not a terrorist attack but as the truck the prosecutor said it's not. It's not a terrorist attacks on the law that's what we know and what's happening at the location off the attack on you and evacuees doing. Yeah I'm so close from the critic. Something like you're systematists for from your studies and right now. There is a secure area not just police officer a wrong me a lot of vehicles of but also emergency vehicles around the place like yours police they are. Secure areas so. The car on the people can go. Close from the secure of police on and I've also been reading that there was a rare nationwide police strike on wed in a state which saw thousands of officers demonstrating in Paris over working hours shortages in resources and controversial pension reforms yes exactly yesterday there was a protest here in Paris a lot of police officers it was about. The way they work and they are so hung because they think that spirit as well as the 1st. But it's something totally different from what happens it's not. I want to criticize that the suspect. Is not a police officer is. Men who work in the place like your police and it's not exactly the same so it's not about the way they work or it's something more personnel obviously so you would not think that this has got anything to do with the morale of the police on the issues that they were raising in that strike. It's too soon to say something about that but no I don't think. There is any relation between what we saw yesterday I mean the protest of the police officers what happened it's too soon to be that they were back I think it's not related Well thank you very much for bringing us up to date with all the latest we will try and get information as and when it comes in on this developing story about an attack at the police headquarters in batteries. This is o.o.s. On the b.b.c. a With me to via Aria live from the middle of the news room where we combine our stories with the ones you are sharing right now in the world and one of the stories is journalists here have been following and indeed we were talking about yesterday just the stime was about the proposals that have been put forward by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to try to reach a new deal to leave the European Union 24 hours on journalists politicians voters have all started to digest the implications and form an opinion we saw the prime minister in parliament attempting to sell the ideas to M.P.'s who will have to put them through Let's take a listen they do know everything we would have wished they do represent a compromise but to remain a prisoner of existing positions is to become a cause of death rather than break through and so we have made a genuine attempt to bridge the chasm to reconcile the apparently irreconcilable and to go the extra mile as time runs short. Remember the prime minister currently says the u.k. Will leave the e.u. Deal or No Deal by the 31st of October now the minute shape of the story can sometimes be perplexing and b.b.c. Journalist Nick Robinson put it like this in a tweet earlier and the tweet said. Finding all this complicated bricks a deal talk a bit hard to follow Let me try to help me which refers to previous prime minister of tourism me negotiated a deal the e.u. Could live with but m.p. Student Johnson which preface to current prime minister Boris Johnson has now proposed a deal which bought him and would probably back and the e.u. Almost certainly won't and then he says I hope this helps Well I hope this helps and if it doesn't then you keep it to the correspondent Rob Watson is joining us from our Westminster studios Rob. It's a brilliant colleague Nick Robin said it does a he has a habit of this so you should definitely follow him on Twitter because he's often rather good at pithy things and it is about rights and of course he had to kind of keep it short for Twitter I'm not entirely sure what the parliament would get behind this still even if the e.u. Did but I know what he's getting at so remind us exactly what the u.k. Suggesting simply to goodness do you really want me to do that so what will the well the u.k. Has basically been suggesting is that Northern Ireland would stay and what's known as the single market of the European Union that's the bit that affects regulations I mean it's got the same regulations everywhere in every part of the e.u. Bus that Northern Ireland along with the rest of the u.k. Would leave that other key bit of the e.u. Is economic architecture if I can put it that way that's the customs union which is essentially a trade policy in the Customs Union means everything goes around from one bit of the easy to another without anyone paying any taxes or tariffs but that the e.u. As a huge block has the same trade policy with the rest of the world so where the where the or in France or or in when the whatever and you are important in on a from the Caribbean it's all at the same price so what I saying is not so what does that sort of achieve Well it means that if you if you stay in the same if you stay in the single market there won't be all sorts of kind of regulatory checks in Northern Ireland but it's not going to be as free and frictionless as things are now because norm. And I mean our public are going to have different customs regimes and basically what the u.k. Government is saying is is look we'll try and make it as unobtrusive as possible it'll be largely electronic one other thing which is causing huge problems in selling this deal is that effectively the Democratic Unionist Party it's a Protestant party in the north which basically is for favors the continuing union with the United Kingdom have they said get a sort of veto on whether whether Northern Ireland really does stay with us arrangements a lot of people are saying hang on a minute. And you also mentioned that it may actually not be very easy for the prime minister to convince his M.P.'s to back him well I think his biggest problem is with the European Union and with the Irish government and with everybody in Northern Ireland apart from the Democratic Unionist Party if I take that step by step I mean I think the e.u. Really is faced with the following dialogue what does it think is is the least worst because at this point nobody thinks there's any ever see any good solution what is least worst doing something like Mr Johnson's the deal but that means compromises over the integrity of the single market in the customs union which they hold dear or doing a b. Even worse than the no deal Bracks at all or an extension to Bracks it and now as far as the Northern Irish issue is concerned I mean this this pro pro union mainly Protestant party called the d.p. That they seem to be fine with us still but lots of the other part is that represent what's known as the other tradition in Northern Ireland Catholics who many of them favor a United Ireland they are not happy at all and business is not happy and Northern Ireland either finally to Parliament I mean it's certainly true that Mr Johnson's had a very positive reaction by and large from his own governing Conservative Party because don't forget the Conservative Party has been absolutely traumatized by this whole Brecht's a crisis and I think many of them are just desperate to do so. But but it's all it's clear that he's going to have massive opposition from the opposition passes and you mentioned the European Union as being the biggest challenge we've got a voice from that park Let's listen to what Ireland's prime minister Leo over rocker has been saying in his 1st public comments since the proposals were published speaking at a press conference in Sweden he said the plans for a short in a number of aspects argues that any consent mechanism that work to exist would have to be reflective of the views of the whole of the population of Northern Ireland to not give any one party of any denomination veto and also we need to explore and much more detail the customs pulses being put forward as it's very much the view of the Irish government and people of our the north and south that there shouldn't be customs checkpoints our tariffs on trade between North and South. Rob But in simple terms what are his objections. So it's what we were talking about really out of here it's 2 things a lot idea of the concern you know I said the deal was that Northern Ireland would stay. Along with the E.U.'s regulations but only if the Northern Ireland government agrees to it now the moment the government isn't sitting but you see the way the government is set up in Northern Ireland is that 2 major passes one mainly Protestant Catholic basically got a veto so what was the right thing is hang on a minute so we're having all this change in Ireland and only and one community the the Protestants in the north they get all the party representing many of them they get to have a say so that's one of the problems the 2nd one if you remember I said that that although the idea is that Northern Ireland would stay in the regulator a bit of the but that like the rest of the u.k. It would be leaving the Customs Union so it would have a different trade policy and what Mr Rudd Chris saying is look you know how can. I have you know frictionless frictionless trade if you go on the island of Ireland one bit of a is going to have one trade policy with the rest of the world in Europe and on the other they are sure public will have a different one so he's saying look you know could somebody please explain to me how this is going to work I mean interesting like Mr Johnson admitted in Parliament today the Prime Minister was told she said look you know is going to involve change right in Northern Ireland but we're just going to try and make it as as little change as least disruptive as possible are you keep political correspondent Rob Watson thank you. This is all else on the b.b.c. With the real life from the heart of the b.b.c. News from police in Nigeria say 6 female secondary school students and 2 members of staff have been kidnapped in Kaduna State in the north of the country the kidnappings happened before dawn at the Incredibles college the police and economic unit is investigating Facebook and similar apps and websites can be ordered to dig down illegal worldwide after a landmark ruling from the E.U.'s highest court platforms may also have to seek out similar examples of the illegal content and removed them instead of waiting for each to be reported one expert said it was a significant ruling with global implications and the most watched video on the b.b.c. News website shows climate protesters in London using a hose from an old fire engine just pretty readily quit at a government building it didn't go quite to plan they quickly lost control of the powerful jet leaving 1800 liters of red liquid dumped on the street go in have a look online. And now but she said the from b.b.c. Arabic a sat down with me to take us through the events in Iraq there's been a lot of conversation and several trending hashtags about the protests on social. Media in the Arabic language the prime minister say is an open ended kof you in Iraq which has been in place since Dawn is needed to maintain order and protect protest us from infiltrators and before we talk to Bashir Let's hear from one young woman in Iraq who sent us a whatsapp message to explain why she's been out on the streets Hi this is Navy from Baghdad I currently live in back there we were protesting and the Harir square but right now we're back home but we still have protesters over there the reason why we are protesting because we do not want at this government this is a corrupt government we are very angry at them there are still in our money they are not given us healthcare the situation is not safe there's just no help in their very corrupt government still an hour nor wild riots any human wants to live like have a happy life be safe have a job and we do not have that and we have had it and we do not want to deal with that anymore not to mention that most of the government or some of them will say they're from Iran and we don't want Iran or anybody involved in the Iraq we want the government to be Iraqi government and Iraqi only we want to pick our people and those people in the government currently are no help in with our needs and what we asked for so we are very angry and we don't know want them anymore not to mention we have family is our side there are rock and they want to come visit but they can't because of the current situation no I look at your city no water no health care no jobs we are done. But she said he was patiently listening in to that. Woman now and we got that whatsapp miss it from her what she's speaking about are those typical set of grievances she just you know summarizes what these young men are protesting against in Baghdad and in other and other cities it's not the 1st round of. Such kind of protests and in Iraq we saw this last year a few years back and interestingly the same demands were shot by these protesters asking for you know a better job opportunities for them most of them are you know young people under graduate or post a graduate looking for a say in your prospects and in Iraq they are willing to serve the country they set but they are not being given the opportunity also the deteriorated and frustrated jurors you know it has been decades and decades with the need to negligence and. Accusing the government of being a corrupt government and not let the say using their resources or directing their resources towards like investment in the health sector in the education sector that also. Has triggered. The lag resentment within the Iraqi people and now it's just like as if this exploded interesting if there is no leadership for these protests it was organized on the social media now the social media is. Like a restricted with no access because of the Internet blackout but the activists are telling each other. The new time for a protest and a new place for the protest by the mobile phones as we speak now the protesters are are clashing with the security forces said they have out of Baghdad they're not adhering to the curfew that has been in place since morning this that completely deter people from coming out in the streets it seemed that they were defying the curfew of course by the Iraqi government early this morning. Despite the. Heavy security measures taken in central Baghdad and in other cities as well but we we heard from eyewitnesses in Baghdad that hundreds of people March towards. Where the heart of that in order to point to the protests already there were some protesters spending the night there they try to stand up for our stand of against the security forces but they were dispersed later on things seems to be a skating quickly we heard that the protesters said one of the security forces vehicles. To fire and also unfortunate there were some injuries about fatal to the casualties Yes we've heard at least 18 people have died since Tuesday now in the past hour will be thought another order a message from Baghdad that's happening Hi My name is a bad idea I currently live in but fortunately I do have internet otherwise people are running around here they don't have any internet connections then we have a curfew Nobody can leave their houses everything is really fusing and really hard to walking around either because it's very dangerous as well the streets are really crazy it's so it was a chaos I've been driving around in my car yesterday when I left work and it was really scary because I could see Engelen says everywhere people are injured people going around and there was a lot of these it was really a chaos so we really wish things would be better everybody would listen to us and help us because we are really in a dangerous situation I might be have an Internet now and I can see what's going on with the world but like I don't know when they're going to be cut out of the world entirely because they're already cut off all the internet connection to the other people like we cannot connect like regularly either on v.p.n. It's not working at all. We don't have all the communication with the Internet I really hope that somebody can listen to us and they can work something better for us we hope this process will take a place and changes will be happening. What changes be happening has the government or the international community reacted to these protests. I mean this is what the protesters are wishing for they are trying to you know make their voices heard and they want a change they are accusing the government of being let us say. Some neighboring countries and they are pointing towards certain countries and they before our neighbors to Iraq they are against the. You know the corruption. Against. The religious parties as well however they have known no leadership. Buna and they were they were called upon by the social media that you need to form the say someone to represent you to talk to the government to say that talk to them face to face we do see that happen so far the curfew is there but sooner it's going to be lifted by the government and then they would be more in the streets and also he says off. You know more protests for the people who died that could make like a larger scale or more absolutely rotten exists thank you but she said the from a b.b.c. Arabic which looks at at a big speaking regions and covers news from there we get more on that story as it develops here on points. Distribution of the b.b.c. News. Hello you're listening to us live from the b.b.c. News room with me. One story that we have been following closely over the past 2 weeks is impeachment proceedings against u.s. President Donald Trump and on the show the monitor events and videos that are being widely shared and viewed and you may have seen the heated exchange between President Trump and a reporter yesterday it happened during a joint news conference with president of Finland we were interested in how that is being viewed in Finland so a little later this half we'll hear from a couple of Finnish journalists who were also at that event but moving on to a story that many people have been wondering about or talking about and we spoke about it yesterday on o. S. When we heard about the Dallas shooting case where Amber Geico a vite former Dallas police officer shot dead black me in his apartment later in the day a Dallas County jury sentenced Ms guy go to 10 years in prison after the sentencing that was an emotional statement from the week Tim's brother 18 year old Brant Joel and then a moment that has been shared around the world ever since have a listen I can speak from. Africa. I know if you ask. He will. Take anyone. Family. I'm not going to say I hope you're right and I was like my brother did but I I personally want the best for you. And I wasn't going to have her say this in front of my family or anyone but I don't even want you to go to jail I want the best for you because I know this well that's exactly what both women want to do and the best would be give your life to Christ. I don't know of this possibly but can I get please. Please. That emotional statement from the week Tim's brother 18 year old just 18 year old brand and just after that he gets up from his chair and the Dallas police offer the farma Dallas police officer guy go literally runs to him gives him a hug and starts something and that goes on for for a while it was it was a really emotional one for me to watch and we now have Donald helps a reporter from The Wall Street Journal who was in the courthouse tell us what was the atmosphere at it. As it was everybody were there was very emotional but as. The brother started talking I mean you could hear that you could hear a pin drop it was that quiet and after his. Love you. Know everybody was kind of stunned and then when asked if he could hug her. Everybody and once they hugged and she almost kind of read. It and. They kind of half and. That's when I heard so much crying like the sister you know. His sister you could really hear her crying and you know the parents for crying and it was just it was surreal I cover. Monitor them and I have never seen anything like it and what did the judge do at that moment. Well the judge I mean after a hug between Auckland's brother and Amber Geiger she came to know and she had the parents. In the audience and she came just gave her condolences and kind of you know. Prayed with them a little bit she you know gave them a little prayer and then she hugged him and then she. After that his sister then she moved over to her and then she went over there consult her because she was still crying you know for a hug with the brother and then the back chamber area to get her Bible and she comes back and gets her piebald. And then they pry and the Church points out Scripture to her and then there's a hug and then you know eventually embers let out of a side door tickles are persons unusual scenes I would imagine in a room. Amazing to me yeah amazing to witness something which can be I guess so. Humbling in a way especially read as we try and remember and if you could remind our listeners about how dividing the case had become. Oh it definitely the case it definitely divided a lot of people. Mainly along racial lines you know she's a white police officer you know John was black there was a lot of racial division in actually. The day before the curia come down with the murder conviction so you had a lot of the civil rights activists they were very happy with that because that murder conviction could have carried out 5 to 99 year prison term Well yesterday with. A lot of the civil rights leaders. But I know it is at the courthouse some of them called out after they saw all what was going on in the court room you know with all that you know being it. And everything it kind of settle things down. Donna Hobbs from the Wall Street Journal thank you so much for sharing that with us and indeed the hash tag forgiveness is being used to discuss the. Extraordinary moment when welcome Jonas Brothers said he forgave the guy God before giving her a hug but how do you forgive someone who does something so bad let's talk to Marietta uga in Florida does she's a co-founder of an organization called Journey of hole from violence to healing but Marianne you do have your own personal story also forgiveness can you share that with us. Oh I I would be honored thank you my youngest daughter Suzy who was only 7 years old was kidnapped out of our tent on a camping vacation in the state of Montana in 1973 and. It turned out that eventually we were to find out her life was taken by a serial child rapist and killer and but I had to deal with the whole issue of forgiveness for the for the sake of my own health and and to in order to live out my face with integrity which calls me to an attitude of forgiveness but in the beginning I would have been happy to kill this person whoever he was with my bare hands and. I was feeling very free to acknowledge that to anybody who would hear it but. My face calls me to an attitude of forgiveness and my intent is always to live out my faith with integrity so but I promised to God that I would try how and when did that occur to you that's not good be the boss you could take forgiveness. Well I I had announced to my husband after a day of dealing with a rage. Towards a kidnapper I had we were getting ready for bed and I announced to my husband that I'd be happy to kill the kidnapper with my bare hands and a smile on my face and I turned around to go to sleep. And I had a major wrestling match with the God that I say I believe in and and who reminded me that I was called to a better and healthier frame of mind which was forgiveness and I couldn't I mean there was no way I could see my way clear to do that but in the end you know when you have a wrestling match with God you know who wins so in the end I surrendered but which is simply to say I said Ok I will but I can't do it by myself so I put the ball in God's court and said I will try to cooperate with every whatever you are history in my life to help move my heart from fury to forgiveness and that's how it started and how long does it take it obviously wouldn't happen overnight because it's overcoming such extreme emotions as you just Chad. Absolutely and I think murder victims' family members have every right to rage. But but they have and in the right situation hopefully they have the opportunity to work through all those negative difficult painful movement memories but in the end. The only way we can ever move on with our life and not stay stuck and even chained to a room and events in the past that will never ever change no matter what you do you have to move towards forgiveness and that's what I committed myself to do but it can be just something you were talking to yourself about I'm sure the challenges are also about how everyone else looks at your ideal forgiveness. Well that may be true eventually but the in the beginning the journey starts within my own heart and so so I started simply by reminding myself that however I felt about the kidnapper in God's eyes the God I say I believe in he was just as precious as my little girl and it took a while for my mind to be able to wrap itself around that idea but that's what I say I believe and that's a kind of God I say I believe and so I had to call myself to it over and over and over again until it became a permanent fixture in my own mind and I had to remind myself that that even though this person. Whatever he had done divide a little girl he was still a Son of God and human being and he had dignity and had the worst simply because of those facts and so I had to honor that and and and treat him with respect and. Try to work towards. A more amenable frame of mind towards him and and my faith calls me to pray for him pray for my enemies and he certainly fit that category and so I began to do that right and maybe at the listening to you is Margaret missin from London. And Margaret thanks for sharing your story with us we know that your 16 year old son was murdered in 2008 and you've also chosen the journey of forgiveness does Marietta's. Experience sound familiar is that what you went through it does it doesn't sound very familiar it was wonderful listening to her. For me what happened was 2 days after Jimmy was killed. My husband I before been speaking about not feeling angry and newspapers actually said that we had forgiven the boy and at that point we had met a chance to treat and think about forgiveness because we were in a state of shock but very soon I come to the conclusion that I forgave the boy that killed my son because I had a need to get through each day I didn't need to go and he had a need to smile again and I didn't see give this boy I couldn't do all of those things and so I just fell from a in my whole life easier to forgive him than to hold on to the hate that would have been a poison inside my body. And it means I got out and look out the window and see the sunshine. Coming but I couldn't do it is absolutely. Out there that's a world. Really and you have started a charity called for Jimmy with your husband Marianne would you like to speak to Margaret about your June. Oh I love hearing her because I understand exactly how hard she felt and the process she had to go through but it is true. It's a horrible death is a lot of love gone is such a difficult thing for a mind to embrace but once we do it we can move on with our lives and we can actually smile and be happy to see a rainbow and rifle. And we're not stuck in a pair a way where we can do nothing to change it no matter how many people how angry we are how many people we kill it's not clear change what we have to learn to live with and if we ever want to be whole and healthy and happy people we have got to learn to forgive. I absolutely absolutely agree with that and you know there is so much hate in this world and I believe that bicycle thing will make it better you know many people are interested in forgiveness and my husband and I we have started up a charity called me and our charity is based on 3 words forgiveness peace and hope we travel all around our country sharing the message of forgiveness and people are craving I don't know how to The key is and sometimes it's just. Myself and my husband. We can smile but that doesn't mean. That is. You know they're going to get through life and I have other children that me and I know that if I didn't get the boy that killed my son I couldn't. And what kind of questions do people ask you when you give them that message Ok Well they say they tend to say at 1st I could never forgive but I always say you don't know because you know in my situation because if you said to me the day before my son was killed Margaret if someone one of your children what would you do I've said if anyone touches my children I will kill them and yet the day after that I'm talking about or 2 days off them talking about forgiveness so I just share how it is and people then see it through different eyes. Almost awaken something and. I'm just thankful to God that I can forgive and I'm glad that I've been given a voice so I can talk about it as well. No idea I said I really I really agree with that and I and I too it's interesting the parallels in our life. With along with other people have this organization called Journey of Hope from violence to healing and we find that as we go around the country and share our stories of people say you know oh I just never thought there was that option you know and they're there I hatred is unhealthy and they're suffering from it and so when they see somebody hold that light out in front of them it gives them hope that there's there's you know there's a chance for them to be happy again to be able to enjoy life again and and and we can do it with credibility because we've been there and then we have struggles you know and we we as Margaret says you know we just both said you know if anybody ever hurt one of my kids by golly I'll get to go after him and yet. It doesn't serve any good purpose it doesn't change the new reality that we have to learn to live with and. And I think God is the best like I just go on God says the only way we will ever be whole and healthy and happy people is when we learn how to forgive. I absolutely agree with that as well. I'm not good would you go on to hug the much of a few signs that you would be willing to now it's something I could think about and it's not something I've done and what what the way I look at it is I have lots to not have children and I've seen a lot of pain in my children since the death of Jimmy and so if it came about that I had an opportunity to meet the boy that killed him I would sit down with more firmly and I know is that Ok for. One of my children that mom or dad don't want to move. Because the one thing I'm not good. My children. It was. Our coping and around him my husband and we go into prisons all around the country share into the story and I have tried to commit murder into my arms and you know I've looked at these people and I haven't seen the murder I've seen someone who has made a terrible life many of them many of them are. Too late by the time you come to call her. To do in these things but I work with my children anymore because it's been a traumatic few years for them to offer very much Marieta would you I am I just love listening to Margaret because her journey is again so parallel to mine I I think in prison when I visit prison and I have come to love the man who had made a terrible terrible mistake and have to live with the reality of the consequences of those mistakes for the rest of their lives but. So many of them find has said to me Dad Dad It was one thing that would really help to heal them is to know that the victim's family for gave them and I think Dad. That's been a very interesting insight and and how hopefully the day will come when. When a state of promoting. Anger and executions even. If they are our justice system will have the means to provoke better spend their money on the promotion of rehabilitation Thank you men thank you so much money and Margaret Ms and for your inspiring thoughts and stories . You're listening to us on the b.b.c. World Service with me. Let's turn to the United States now and that press conference with President Donald Trump and Flynn Finland's president ninnies Still you may well have seen it on your social feeds in the past 24 hours especially the bit where President drum argued with one of the journalists Jeff Mason who works for the Reuters news agency asked the u.s. President what he wanted Ukraine's president the Lenski to do about form of Vice President Joe Biden and his son Trump refused to answer and told the journalist asked the Finnish president a question instead there was another moment that got people talking let's have a listen. Somebody who is really nice. Really nice person. I think they're all nice and. Ok. Yes. M.t.v. News Finland and I have one question for President Trump and one question for president 1st. How will this political storm afaik the u.s. Foreign policy especially its relationship with Finland and 2nd for president because this is the biggest issue here at the moment I have to ask what kind of favors has asked from you. Or the other way around you would say. I think when I was aware of. Ok. We got in touch with the reporter who asked that question she sent us this audio message telling us about the exchange I'm kind of been in the u.s. Correspondent for and to Venus Finland it was a very interesting moment and you could really see how Tom didn't like the question the Finnish president who was a little uncomfortable to answer to it. Afterwards many many journalists thank me face to face and Twitter it was a little surprise to me how people were thinking it was such a brave question and the most important one the president of Finland who was so afterwards didn't seem to be happy that I asked that but still wanted to make it clear after the press conference that no term pass and asked any favors. Mari carping and then and we wanted to get more of a sense of what it was like in that room in the moments before and after those questions Paula is u.s. Correspondent for Finnish Broadcasting Company why he and joins us from Washington d.c. She was also at the news conference so tell us what was it like that. It all stopped what was it following process by the. U.s. For us on that for protesting company bought out even in the trumps the yesterday's press conference in my opinion was so was on the golf ball and actually the already started a little bit earlier that the press conference where these questions were Poles He was also to fronting and raving already at the Oval Office when all the presidents were sitting side by side and that usually it's like a short photo but it basically turns out in the 15 minute monologue. That Trump gave us last thing you know how media in the us and he will call some of it now corrupt media. Corrupt and even gone that far that my mentees the media enemy of the state so obviously for me as a fan this is pretty. Let's say these type of farm phrasing and this type of fun demonizing the media unheard of in Finland which is the land of great press and I could say that you know at times during that ranting and raving our president's facial expressions were pretty amazed when he was looking you know quietly sitting side by him but he he was pretty good in keeping his cool and straight faced but at times you could really see that Ok this is something you know what he has and either being in many times in his career so there were more shocking moments during the press conference and I would say that the press conference itself of the one of the big shocker was that it ended so abruptly you know will we from the finish side the question which Mari posed was actually quite in 85 you know all of us friends because we knew the marching orders but we will get only 2 questions beforehand so we all contributed to those questions and ah you know wanted to make sure that these is this question will be asked but all of sudden off the face you know what you played out the you know back and forth between Trump and Jeff Mason I think Trump just got a knot and he properly and did the whole thing and we didn't even have to chance to pulse the 2nd question which was you know at 1st supposed to be Olive also that offended side so I guess we all were all of our own look at the mates that our president just well because people's left spending white families fell in the o.d.u. And then then we obviously have to follow the our Trump let's. Give us a little bit of what we're saying Ok thank you and you went off there him and. So really that's a lot of the ending of the press conference I must say and it was shocking for you and you explain for the president as well how audiences in Finland reacting to this you think. I think since we have followed quite a bit what is happening in the u.s. So I think really many have seen how Trump this behaving and he's obviously behaving well the record that all presidents and quite a bit don't you know a funny is the smiles and that jokes have been raised out of this and moment in the over the place where all the president of. The u.s. Boss saw one and it journalist and that you you know Finland is that these. Were right you left Finland that so on and so forth right when I was there in them that Trump was bravely putting his hand on our president's knee and oh a president like you could probably truck a stand all I know if you follow me laughter leave him there very interesting snippets from that press conference yesterday thank you you're listening to the b.b.c. B.b.c. News with so Montgomery Donald Trump has publicly asked another foreign country China to find incriminating evidence against his u.s. Democrat rival Joe Biden Mr Trump is already facing impeachment over a phone call to Ukraine's leader in which he's accused of threatening to withhold any aid unless Kiev help dig dirt on his rival speaking to reporters President Trump also repeated his demand for Ukraine to investigate the business interests of Mr Biden son well I would think that if they were honest about it they start a major investigation in the by the very simple that. They should best to get the bike because that is a company that really formed and well these companies if you look at it by the way like white china just started investigation into the by because what happened there John. Is just about as bad as what happened with. With you right Mr Trump has presented no evidence of any wrongdoing by the Bidens 4 police officers have been killed in an attack at their headquarters in central Paris witnesses inside the buildings people running everywhere many in tears Here's our security correspondent Frank Gardner he's not been named but his identity is known he had worked for 16 years in the only tea department in the administrative part of French police headquarters right in the historic center of Paris he appeared to have difficulties with his supervisor so it appears to be a personal motive French a terrorist prosecutors are looking at it but they have been declared a terrorist incident he did not were told display any behavior all signs that he was going to do something like this.
