From the get go Fox Sports radio studio series Childers Knox and Brady Quinn. Someone comfortable moments right now for somebody in sports a world champion a prominent member of the sports world we will get exclusive details as to what it might be like coming up here in just a couple of minutes I am Jonas knocks he is Brady Quinn This is Fox Sports Radio you can also listen to the show is always on the i Heart Radio app and on Sirius x.m. Channel 83 as well as we come to you live from the Geico Fox Sports radio studios are 15 minutes could save you 15 percent or more on car insurance visit guy go dot com for a free rate quote my man Brady Quinn what's happening not a whole lot I'm just trying to decompress after this past weekend's n.f.l. Draft to add a bunch of. You know responsibilities following that so it was a long long weekend between Thursday night Friday night as well and then all Saturday obviously finishing up the draft so excited to talk about that but also excited to talk about some basketball maybe hockey or little hockey maybe I mean you know that I would just let Steve Sailer handle the updates. But he teased better and better than I said it anyways so I got to ask you this and I want to because for there is going to be an apology in the middle of the segment for me to you because something occurred to me this week Ok so I will get to that here shortly but I want to ask you because there's an uncomfortable situation that's going on right now out here in Southern California in l.a. Where you've got a head coach a prominent head coach a guy who's got a world championship in Doc Rivers when he was with the Boston Celtics and there's rumors out there maybe he's not back maybe the team is broken apart just as a guy who's been in locker rooms where coaches have lost their job or you've been around it what is the atmosphere like as a player right now if you're in l.a. Clipper and how uncomfortable is the mood there to you magine it's incredibly uncomfortable when when you know the writing's on the wall and I think when you look at the l.a. Clippers and the lack of of this team's ability to be able to make runs and the Western Conference which. I'm just I'm still kind of shocked when you think about I mean I know I saw a stat earlier how Chris Paul is played with the most career playoff games without without making it to a conference finals right. I'm not sure about that and they've been on him the teams he's been on or how you want to look at that but I think it's a good way of summarizing this Clipper team of a team with a ton of talent I guess ultimately either you can make the case that they have to play during a time when the West was really run by this the spurs on the Gold State Warriors or you could just kind of summarize it up so that they were a very very talented group of players but maybe not a team that could really come together and ultimately do you hold Doc Rivers responsible for that I mean maybe partially but it's top of me I've been on but I've been on teams where you kind of knew that was going to take place at the end of the season and I think that's the difference where I'm with this scenario versus you know dealing with that sort of scenario is is when you're in you know football team and you've got to play a physical grueling exhausting game and you know your coach is going to get fired at the end of the season if not before then you know you can you could tell based on how guys feel how they prepare you know sometimes how they play with their effort when guys are kind of giving it their all or or maybe not trying to win sometimes guys have injuries they try to play through on a good season it's a bad season I'm sad go and I are and get that looked at maybe get that surgery that I need but what do you deal with guilt though because these guys on the Clippers you know it's a Doc Rivers loses his job and we don't know anything we don't know whether or not Steve Balmer is going to clip him or not but we wouldn't be surprised if that's the case there in l.a. With the Clippers and Doc Rivers and they blow the whole thing up but it do you after the season a coach loses his job you sort of look back within yourself and say man if I could have done a little bit more if I could have just you know done this or done that in a game or put us in a better situation or if I could've made one shot or made one play how much guilty you deal with when a guy lose his job I think as a quarterback you deal with a tonic you. I mean you feel that way if things don't work out and you know a player for example doesn't get a contract extension or he doesn't get you no more money but yes the remember going back to college when I had you know our head coach got fired after my sophomore year and I kind of said to myself I mean this entire staff is gone they've got families who are now going to be displaced and that you understand as a player that that's what they signed up for when they chose that profession and that career but at the same time you definitely feel like you were attributed to that because if you had played better you wouldn't be in that position and I think as I got older you know when you're in the n.f.l. It's more of a business so I think the n.b.a. The same thing as much as you want to feel accountable for. Their departure or their lack of success you know ultimately to it's kind of on them to put you in a position to win and I'm sure any time there's a bad season you're kind of looking back and you can notice sometimes you 2nd guess the citizens in regards to you whether it's scheme or rest or practice habits things that you should be practicing or focusing on all that sort of thing I mean you're going to look back and 2nd guess I think as you get wiser now as you get older so maybe you don't feel quite as much guilt at least for me personally and all it is the Utah Jazz Now moving on after every game 7 win at Staples Center in l.a. Over the Clippers for the Jazz will take on the Golden State Warriors Celtics to game one against the Wizards in Boston earlier $123.00 you want to 11 came back were trailing they were outscored 16 and nothing to start the game and came back and won so that is that is all up to speed on the n.b.a. We have gotten that taken care of we have covered all bases in the n.b.a. Now let's get down to the nitty gritty because this weekend was all about the n.f.l. Draft and before we get into the draft I would like to go behind the scenes and apologize to Brady Quinn I am a draft nerd I love it I've always loved it I'm fascinated by it the rumors the b.s. Everything that goes along with. It I am in thrall by the n.f.l. Draft and I don't get people that don't like the draft because the way I look at it if we all agreed that the 2 most popular sports in this country are the n.f.l. And college football it's the only time where they're both combined So how does that suck you know like it's like winning the lottery on your birthday in a strip club in the middle of a lap dance you have everything that you want is right there in front of you it's all good news I don't know how people can't like it but that being said you know I'm getting over it I start texting Brady Quinn on Thursday and I'm like oh look at this and we're talking about all sorts of stuff in the draft under way and it's totally gone on in and I'm firing off like a decent amount of tweets text messages to Brady Quinn and then all of a sudden I happen to check Twitter and I see that oh yeah Brady is doing a live draft show probably Malone. Probably not be bothering him while he's doing a live draft show at any point be honest during the text message parade that you got for me were you thinking about going to man and I'm trying to work here no no I don't have to. Be because you're a friend then you're someone I work with I think I understood the fact how excited you were for the draft I figured at some point I'd be able to kind of text you and get back to you but lately if you're going to middle I've already a little bit a live draft show and I completely forgot I had no I'd like I was so overblown with emotion that I could that I could not contain myself and then it occurred to me oh my God he's in the middle of the show because I know what it's like I do overnights here at Barc sports radio I got a text from my buddy last night completely wasted out of his mind I we're talking it's 1230 at night you know a little after midnight here on the West Coast and I get a text and I knew it was a bomb because he said he had to correct his spelling 3 different you when you get 4 different text messages in a row you know either somebody screwed something up or it's really urgent and he was completely wasted I could tell that by reading his text any and his text basically when he finally was able to put the words together was hey man when is your show on. Right now dummy. Overhead when I'm working do you get it so I understand your pain I get the those of the same friends too or tell you oh yeah list your show all the time how you know. You're on anyway what channel is it on Univision Yeah it's the Telemundo you tell them I'm doing their you know. Overall I thought it was of a really really exciting draft of what was your overall if you got to sum up the draft and we're going to go we're going to break down different angles of the draft as we progress throughout the show but overall you what were your thoughts on the draft I thought it was fantastic not only from the drama and the suspense I think with with some of the movement around it was a lot of intrigue going into it and I kind of thought that there weren't going to be as as many trades as people were anticipating only because when you've got some teams who don't value quarterbacks early on attractor least that was the suspect suppose that impression early on it's like how do you trade back out of those spots if you don't need a quarterback so that kind of the added to some of the intrigue which I think by the end of it there are the most trades that any draft in recent history since since it we've been talking about a 7 round you know draft obviously if you go back through the years you'll see there was like a draft of like 92 rounds or something ridiculous like that so in recent years there was literally the most or all 7 rounds trades that they've ever had so I thought that was kind of cool and pretty unique and you know also the fact that you look at the teams that traded up to take quarterbacks at least 2 of the 3 cases in the 1st round there are teams with guys who they've either paid to be the starter at least for a year or a guy who has been their starter and has been somewhat successful I think you'd have to say from a monetary and even a win loss perspective so I think that can add to the intrigue and it just the story lines as you know as much as you don't want to admit this everyone. To see what Joe Mixon would go if he'd go oh same thing with Caleb Bradley same thing with the Westbrook because we have so much access to these guys you know the lives that we understand the different off the field allegations that are out there we understand their history so we're always curious to see which teams willing to take that risk I mean Caleb Bradley a 6th round pick a guy who was arguably a 1st 2nd round talent and he can't get taken by the Browns and immediately there g.m. Says yeah but the pending a what happens with this he might not stay a brown we just essential he wanted to get his rights because we feel like he's that talented of a player that we're willing to risk what may come of it and happen to potentially caught him if indeed these allegations to hold up and he gets charged Yeah and as well as just from the how is the scene set up on television just as a television product to and I don't know how much you've got to interact as far as the television goes going oh you're doing a draft coverage for all 3 days but as an event Philadelphia looked like it hit a home run it looked like it was the perfect set up you had interactions you had Drew Pearce in turning into a w w e wrestler with the crowd there in Philadelphia to get him on the whole of then all together I don't know how people don't like it I even like you're now out of the league you cover the draft you break this stuff down you do a good job you know it the ins and outs of all these different players like as you've gotten a further away from the league as a player can you sort of appreciate why fans go nuts wore it Oh of course I mean look everyone for the most part wins on shaft I mean if you look at the entire draft there's always going to be a player that you like maybe there's a player that you don't but either way you're going to be moved one way or another I think we all can agree you're essentially looking at least the 1st round 2nd round guys who become instant millionaires and that's what we're watching it's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire they're watching it with guys who get the put the game of football that they love yes I think from being through my son. I'm experiencing it it's exciting from that standpoint because it changes you know your family's lives forever and generationally you know as far as looking at how people's lives are affected and and then more so than that just being able to watch players kind of grow up I mean a lot of I think it's the ultimate combination of college and n.f.l. Fans because there's the n.f.l. Fans there who obviously want to see who their team gets and there's the college football fan who is rooting for this player they watch play for 34 years and they want to watch them grow up they want to see kind of where they go play the professional ball and you know usually those 2 those 2 types of fans sometimes are a little bit a little bit segregated but they're not when it comes to the draft it's everyone in there together loving the game of football and loving where the players go he is Brady Quinn I'm Jonas Knox is this box more trade or you can always listen to the show on the i Heart Radio app and on Sirius x.m. Back by popular demand is Harbor Jonas knocked Brady Quinn Fox Sports Radio. Company alive from the Geico 5 sports radio. Studios. Just for you park heads out there just to keep you updated the Anaheim Ducks have a 32 lead over the Edmonton Oilers both of those teams are hockey teams in the n.h.l. It's a little something called the Stanley Cup playoffs which is their playoff format so there you go that is the update on the game we've got 16 and a half minutes to go in the 2nd period in hockey there's only 3 periods in our quarters so now we're up to speed with that now you know the score better if you did a quick google or did you see at the beginning of this game how like the mike didn't work during the national anthem No I believe that was the moment when I was in 711 and the guy was trying to tell me how fresh the ice coffee was and I took the 1st sip and went. Sure that isn't Pennzoil bro you sure this isn't already. That big it was kind of neat though that Mike went out to the national anthem and everyone in Edmonton finished the Star-Spangled Banner Oh No Ok so pretty pretty cool to see how the sport unites a country it's not even its national anthem but they all chimed in when I forget who is singing it but when the Mike dropped that is that actually is pretty cool do you think if he is I'll be honest with you if the Canadian national anthem went out . You know I get much help from me on the words. I just I don't it's very similar to like that Christmas tree right like Canada very similar to that I think yeah yeah I know the beginning where they do Ok And and then I just sort of kind of mumble I don't know the words but I sort of know the rhythm to it as far as the Mexican National Anthem I do know that a little bit as well to how does that go. But you know they have to show that I'll be Ok an hour for that yeah this is good. God I don't know if this is being disrespectful of a country if we stop this and in the middle of it being disrespectful of the country. Ok there are so forth that happen all right so you can by the way if you'd like to complain about that but is Nick right running the board here at the top of the program we just did that to take it out on him don't take it out on Brady and I we're just simply the messengers here Brady Quinn I do want to get to something here because you mentioned so the drafters exciting the n.f.l. Draft I mean it started off all of a sudden the Bears moved up to number 2 and everyone is thinking Ok the bears are moving up to number 2 man they must really be worried somebody is going to take Jamal Adams or Solomon Thomas and then they go out and they trade Mitchell Sure brisky you you talk to an f l insiders you talk to to scouts you talk to people around the league did anybody you talk to at any point during the draft process give you any indication the bears were willing to do that to move up to take Mitchell. Though there was no indication of that but. That I mean there obviously wasn't any indication to head coach John Fox that they were going to do that based on the reports that came out after p.b. This trade because apparently the general manager Ryan pace even kept him in the dark about the decision before about 2 hours ahead of time so I hadn't heard it their own head coach hadn't heard it and I think it's a move that can't be judged right now because if you're going to judge it in a vacuum at this moment you're saying that John when this 1st n.f.l. Draft as a general manager for the 40 niners policed the Chicago Bears police them because he convinced the bears that they could were potentially going to either take your biscuit or teams or calling him about trading up to take him that's the reason why they traded up one spot and gave up a number of picks when all along they ended up getting at the guy they were going to draft anyway and Solomon Thomas Ok now the bear's head in gauging conversation with John Lynch a week and a half before the draft to where they had had discussions with him and the whole of that John Fox didn't know about it I don't know how much of that I buy I really because Chris Mortensen who's respected and he's been doing it in the business for a long time he actually walked the report back he actually initially was it was the guy who provided the report everyone said oh my god talk about dysfunction and then afterwards you said Oh no John Fox knew and they were part of they met John Fox was part of the group from the Chicago Bears organization that had a private workout and went to dinner with Mr bisque in March I think they kept this so quiet nobody knew and that's what was what was the shock because I'm like you I had no idea I had no clue that there was any significant interest in Mitchell I know there was some stuff about Kaiser there was some other stuff out there but everything that we had heard was that Ok Well they're probably going to go defense it's just wrong defensive class so it caught me totally off guard. And now you're hearing the reports that some people think in their you know anonymous general managers or n.f.l. Front office guys around the league who are saying well you know Ryan pace basically got himself fired with his draft you know who I think he like this was his home run and just on the surface man it's really bizarre considering majority of the guys that he drafted aren't going to help this team this upcoming year so a couple things just because John Fox was that that meeting when they met with Mitchell Travis doesn't meet he had any idea whatsoever they were going to take him how it's divided up sometimes but tween the coaching staff and the front office or the scouts in the general manager is that general manager of the scouting department they are in charge of evaluating the prospects putting putting out the reports on what they feel about them as a player their medical grade and then who they are as a person so their character and what ends up happening is a lot of time the general manager is the one responsible for drafting the players and kind of providing that what 90 man roster but they're going to go to into the offseason within the training camp with it's then on the coaching staff to cut down to the 53 along with the general manager. To see who's going to actually make that team come opening day so do I believe the report with John Fox didn't oh yeah it's quite possible because of how some organizations are set up where they are the front office is on a. Different page but sometimes keeps the coaching staff in the dark about it I mean they might be in the war room but they don't necessarily know the strategy in there might be calls and communication going on where all the sudden the bears in this particular case really felt threatened that they might miss out on the quarterback that wanted all along I think the one thing we're failing to mention though too in this John is the fact that they just signed Mike Goodwin and they're giving him 18 and a half 1000000 in his 1st year. You know I don't know granted it's a one year deal it's really 3 years but one when you're dealing with essence but it that's also what I think led a lot of people to think that they work and go quarterback that high in the draft well and I wonder this too and I was reading Jason Larkin for and he mentioned you in the in the article when he was talking about Jason Mike and 4 of c.b.s. Who was talking about how you would maybe mentioned Pat Fitzgerald at Northwestern you know maybe Ryan pace is looking at you know possible replacement for John Fox maybe Ryan pace feels like his job is safe and he's projected and he's working towards the future and maybe he's looking around like Ok Well John Fox is going to be here I've got to start thinking about the future here's another name I was thinking about if you were to look up and down be n.f.l. On the college ranks who is a guy who's had a ton of success coaching up quarterbacks in both the n.f.l. And in college you're going to say Jim Harbaugh 100 percent I'm telling you right now Jim Harbaugh is not long for that job and there are certain people Mike Freeman who is an n.f.l. Insider said this a couple of months ago that people close to Jim Harbaugh saying he's been open about this that his dream job in the n.f.l. If he goes back is the bears maybe Ryan pace looks at this and says I'm going to be here the year after next regardless of how he does how we do John Fox Maybe not but if I can sell Harbaugh on a brand new young quarterback with talent and the ability to kind of mold and grow and groom How would he want to turn that down if it's really his dream job again all speculatory but at least it's something that's out there car speculate better than Mike Freeman the guy you just mentioned just as much as he wants the whole that is pipe dream I got a better one for you Ok what if he could go to a place that's an easy division to win with a team that just drafted a bunch of defensive players and I know they've got some offsets of lime and now they're supposedly build around the quarterback he played he may have he may have played there and coach this quarterback the Indianapolis. Colts are you kidding me that would be a pipe dream to continue to coach a guy like into Luck who has already had success with an intern in an organization that I think one is one Super Bowls and so they're accustomed to it I mean you go to the bears I mean since 985 What really have the Bears been I mean yeah they want to support the Rex Grossman but they got their butts kicked by the Napoles Colts and Peyton Manning so if he's trying to pick which we need to I would much rather take the Indianapolis Colts job if it's open if the Colts moved on from Chuck Pagano and I would think that if they were going to even at a decent season. I would think Jim Irsay would do everything he could to try to match his quarterback with his prior coach Jim Harbaugh who is going to try to entice him to come away from Michigan and to the Indianapolis Colts that would be a much much better deal I think if I was Jim Harbaugh but again that's just pure speculation look if Jim Harbaugh chose Mitchell over Andrew Luck it's either because of money or he was ripped out of his mind when they talked to him like it was one of those combine deals that we've talked about before where everybody's just bombed and they start doing da We'll trade you this for this hard throwing or throwing some of your blood so is why and you got a deal if it's one of those moves like I get it but you know it's again this is all speculatory But you know use you make some of the moves that pace made and this stuff is out there now one guy in the n.f.l. Because we got to get a break but this is this is interesting I'm going to throw another theory at you Brady and I think you're going to I think you're going to get get a kick out of this Ok because somebody in the n.f.l. As we come to you live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios What does it mean when Guy goes there's just 15 minutes could save you 15 percent or more in car insurance to meet you probably should have gone to Geico dot com 15 minutes ago so somebody in the n.f.l. Is getting a lot of praise and a lot of credit for the n.f.l. Draft All right I'm going to throw a theory you Brady as to why I think they got completely screwed All right so we're going to have that for you in 60 seconds from now don't go anywhere 1st of all that's why now it's trending. Like n.f.l. Note the Buffalo Bills fire general manager Doug Wally today and their scouting departments were brought to you by Geico great news there's a quick way you could save money switch to Geico go to Geico and in 15 minutes you could save 15 percent or more on car insurance in the n.b.a. Playoffs Utah want to game 7 at the Clippers 104912 end the 1st round Gordon Hayward 26 points Jamal Crawford of l.a. 20 points off the bench Boston start of the 2nd round with a comeback win over Washington $123.00 want to Levon the Celtics trailed 16 nothing after the 1st 4 minutes at home. In the n.h.l. Edmonton is almost come all the way back now they have they've just tied it up 33 mid 2nd period they've just tied it against Anaheim in this game 3 and Nashville up 2 games to want to after beating St Louis Nascar win for Joey Logano in baseball 1st inning home run for the Red Sox Handley were Maris to nothing after Want to get to the Cubs I'm Steve to say. The right choice for America's Wild Coast 1240 radio. Fox Sports Radio. He has Brady Quinn I'm joining us Knox this is Fox Sports radio comedy live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios where it's easy to say 15 percent or more in car insurance with a guy go get a guy got a comical 897 auto The only hard part figuring out which way is easier so Brady there was a team following the draft I don't understand draft grades like people all of a sudden start ranking draft classes and well who got an a minus and who got to be it doesn't make any sense nobody knows whether or not any of these guys are any good so the idea that we you know 24 hours after the draft is concluded No Who's going to project to be a good player doesn't make much sense to be but not know us that's for cliques and people like it and they get fired up for the draft one of the teams that's been given a lot of praise for their draft class is the Cleveland Browns. Overall how do you feel the Cleveland Browns did in this draft do you think it went as they wanted it to through and through. I actually do I think they had a tremendous traffic and I'm not really sure what more you could ask for when you look at the type of talent they got as far as game changers Ok I mean Miles Garrett . Overall he's going to impact right away David in-joke who can stretch the field he's raw but he's got to come to town I mean Peppers will see where he fits in on their defense but look we know is that what we know he's a playmaker we saw that during his time in Michigan and then they found a quarterback in the Sean Kaiser a guy who I really like I think he's got a great skill set if he can be with the right coach which you Jackson is a good quarterback mentor when you look at his track record with past quarterbacks and just even watching film the things he does to give his quarterback some answers before the balls even snap with their formation in the personnel So I think he's going to help to shine Kaiser prepare but look at value picks and it's talked about right there at Johnson he could potentially be the guy who replaces Joe Thomas one day kill Brantley you know what if if none of the allegations and it being true then they're going to get a player who is extremely talented now and if they are going to be a part of the organization anymore and then they look at the kicker they got in sync and solid I mean this kid was as good as it gets in college football so you know it's always spending a 7th round pick on a guy which you know doesn't amount to too much I think is saying a lot if the kid can't kick well if he's we're broke while not that big of a trade up in the 2nd round to take him so it's a 7th round pick completely different scenario there so I would love the trap they had to get even a mention their 4th and 3rd round pick 2 defensive players one of the secondary Also I think can help out so top to bottom I love what they did but I think I know where you're going to Ok now I disagree Now unlike other shows that you might hear Brady and I don't force disagreements like when I can make stuff up just to have a fight because we think it sounds fine I disagree and here's why. And it's easy for me to disagree. Brady because he's not in studio so I disagree and this is this is why I'm getting at so the Browns I think wanted Mitchell and I think they wanted him bad I think the Browns were one of the teams were having conversations with the 40 niners and they have maybe even called the Bears which is what tipped the bears off about moving up to the 3 spot to try and grab. Ok And the reason I say that is because the Browns were sitting at 12 if you were willing to just take any other quarterback and you weren't going to desperately go after a quarterback like that Brown said after the draft and they were so stunned that dish on Kaiser was sitting there in the 2nd round and they couldn't believe it why did you trade away the 12 pick to a team that you knew was going to also take a quarterback. Why would you do that unless the guy you wanted was already gone and if the guy you wanted was gone and the draft is all about getting the players that you want how did they have a good draft I'd be willing to bet if you were to pull them aside as a front office and say hey would you like a do over if you guys could would you now take the one and then take a pass rushing defensive player that would have slipped to 12 as opposed to the way you did it before I guarantee you they would say you know what yeah you're probably right because there's no watch it with what you're saying Ok if they want to for this Keep have bad year they picked over one what are you talking about they're going to stick it up number one and then they could've gotten a guy like Derek Barnett at 12 and not even had the move considering you dropped a 14 what do you talk you gave him Ok but they didn't know that anybody like they did I didn't know I didn't know know what you know I radiate stuff oh no I'm not Brady they didn't know that the Bears met what you're basically they have no idea I don't think this is a pianist with the listeners you're a Chicago fer I know I do if you want to do with this other kid is their friend so I know I said it wasn't a bad move this has nothing to do I've even said from the beginning I couldn't believe what the Bears did it has nothing to do with the team that I rooted for Growth has nothing to do with Ok nothing to do with it my whole point is everyone spring using the Browns like oh my God they finally got it right how'd they get it right in front to tell you how if they were willing to take a quarterback now if they want to try to screw they could take it up the argument and. Say that we should listen while everyone else reached for one of these quarterbacks because how many analysts that we hear say these guys don't have a 1st round grade Meaning what that means is just for listeners to understand is not saying that they were going to get taken in the 1st round it means comparatively they have this point system and based off how they evaluate them their points didn't equate to a 1st round grade so and then they they compare that to other. Draft class based on the other prospects that were coming out so that's how they derived that sort of information this point system to then give a grade on a player none of these guys were considered a 1st round talent how many times do we hear this draft class was a bad crop of quarterback prospects I mean think about this Jonas in the past 20 years 20 years there's only been 2 other classes where you had 9 or less players 20151997. Every other draft class has been more than that because usually there are deeper draft class teams even in later rounds want to try to take quarterbacks that was not this draft class so I think because they didn't reach them because they went and stuck to their guns and traded out of those picks they get a guy like Garrett they get a guy like peppers a weapon like in joke you and they did reach they took a quarterback that they thought was a 2nd round grade who obviously they liked otherwise they would have taken them in the 1st place and they got it right where they should've but they're being applauded by all of this and actually they utilize a lot of the picks that they got from the course and went straight to get some of the guys in this year's draft in last year's draft so I can't disagree with you more because if they really wanted him they could have taken him the 1st round or the 1st overall pick and they could have either traded up to get Garrett or whoever else or any other pass rusher I guess we we talked about this before what's the difference between Miles Garrett Wright and Derrick Barnett or whatever the pass rush you were thrown right conversation right right probably not as much as what was the difference between what teams felt like between Tripp Askey and every other quarterback so to your point if they really wanted him because he was so much better than everyone else the common logic would be take the quarterback 1st so you get him and then you can take a pass rusher since there's not as much of a difference between a garrett to a derrick Barnett but that wasn't the case here but then why did they trade the number 12 pick to a team that they knew was going to take a quarterback because they knew that they could still get Kaiser in the 2nd round the way you think was a 2nd round great you actually think that the Browns were think looking in going oh you know what he's going to be around there a long time from now so what if they really wanted Kaiser why didn't they take him at 12 using your philosophy didn't have to play to be overdrawn they didn't take a guy that they didn't have as a grade there and buy it that's why they didn't take about 25 or 29 and by that point 3 quarterbacks were gone you think if 3 quarterbacks are gone that early on and we were even techs. Back in 4 they said Man There's got to be a 4th going soon I really didn't happen I truly believe that they want to ski and they didn't think anybody was going to make the move to grab them and that's why they traded out of that spot I truly believe that's the logic then they would have taken him 1st like that's how you play it safe but the problem is they knew it would be a reach and that's why they didn't take Watson what it let me ask you this if they could have taken Kaiser if they could have taken to Shane Watson at 12 right right why did they take him then Jonas why didn't they take the shot on Watson at 12 the Sean can I don't think that they wanted they wanted Mitchell he was gone but here's the thing is it proves the point that they weren't going to overdraft the quarterback just to take a quarterback so whether or not the ultimately really want to Mitchell That decision was already made with the 1st pick they were willing to live with the consequences of not getting him if they didn't take him 1st overall they didn't want him that bad if they wanted that bad they would have taken him 1st over do you think that they called the Bears at any point and said hey what would you be willing to trade down for to get the number 3 pick No I don't you know I think happened I think the Bears were convinced were convinced that the San Francisco 49 er's were going to trade out with a team like the Jets or anyone else who people would possibly thought or that were around for quarterback for the Browns but here's the issue with with trading up 10 spots like that it was going to be the offer that they wanted but the best part of all that is Jonas is the fact that the Bears were the only team dumb enough to do it they were the only team doesn't have to give up as many picks as they did and also just so people understand there's a point system that general managers use that they associate with you know trading picks for example on a draft so there's a certain points that are allocated to certain spots throughout the entire draft 1st round 1st pick through the 256 pick in the 7th round Ok so how it works is based. On that point system and Jimmy Johnson was a guy who I believe started this war Elise kind of made it public knowledge they got full least I mean it was way too much considering they're only moving up one spot and the best part about it was you know John Lynch everyone talked about he's got no experience you know what's going to happen with the 49 er's they're hiring a t.v. Guy absolutely crushed it he got both players that he had rated in its top 5 on his draft board and he got one then number 3 with some more picks and the other one of what 31st were ridiculous we're talking about lotto scratchers here a man by going to it if you give me one lotto scratch and I give you 4 examine that you want to trade up yeah no as you say give me a better probability of winning no but you know you haven't scratched him off yet so it doesn't matter I would overall ability of winning nobody knows who these guys all are like nobody knows what I'm going to get my idea because that's why everyone has a different rating for each one of these players and that's why the Browns did what they saw in their draft board they had Miles Garrett ranked number one overall by far and away the best prospect and they were disciplined and they were willing to reach in a top to bottom you can look at their draft class and any consensus they will tell you this was a team that put together a solid top to bottom draft class where look I think they've got an opportunity to really improve this year I'm not just saying that there's no bias here but the onus is on the players of the coaching staff or even the front office now you know the onus of whether or not they're going to be successful is on Jimmy has on their own or if this guy doesn't give the past 2 draft classes the opportunity to be with the same head coach the assistants is bald as well as the scheme and allow them to be there for a couple years to see what they can be because you know look for 1255 and you know 11 that's an improvement from one in 15 and the problem is people to say oh yeah I'm losing season but guess what you just gave a 5 x. Return to your investors because you won 5. You know 4 more games or 5 games as opposed to one so it's progress even though it's not enough maybe for the fan base so he can't Anik he's got to he's got to stay cool put the blinders on the ear muffs on it wait a couple years because appeal ows this group of players to grow together I truly believe if they've got a hot new inconsistency around them in their scheme of everything else I really feel like this crop of players the past couple years can become a winning team and compete if the North he has Brady when I am Jonas knocks this is Fox Sports Radio you can always listen to the show on the i Heart Radio app and on Sirius x.m.
