Theyre trying to create a buffer zone between droughtdry brush andenned homes before the same strong winds that pushed flames on to californias main coastal highway earlier this week return. And in arizona, the cedar fire has scorched over 12,000 acres. Despite the threat, rancher pat brown is grateful that, so far, firefighters have been able to save his property. Angel candelario pardo was laid to rest there today. His mother cried over the loss of her 28yearold son. At the florida funeral for victim jean mendez, two sheriffs deputies on motorcycles were hit when an impatient driver tried to get around the procession. The deputy should be okay. Investigators continue to look into orlando gunman omar mateens past and whether his wife played a role in the attack. Now David Begnaud has the story of a woman who claims she was stalked by mateen. Reporter well call her marie to protect her privacy. She requested we not use her real name. Marie claims to have first met omar mateen in 2011 at a courthouse in port st. Lucie, florida, where mateen was working as a security guard. The way i met him, walking into a courthouse, he held my keys as i walked in. He didnt want to give them back to me, and he said, i want to date you. And i said, give me my keys. He gave me my keys, and i went about my business. I walked to my car. I was going to open the door, and he held the door shut so i wouldnt open it. And he looks at me in my face, in my eyes, and he says, i want to go out with you, and you are going to be mine. And i said, no, im not. Get out of my face. He says, you are going to be mine. You watch. You are going to be mine. Reporter and then what happened at walmart . At walmart, i was one night, i went in with my daughter, and i was kneeling, looking at something, and he kicked me. I looked up to him and i said, dont you ever kick me again. No, i wasnt afraid of him outside. There was no way he would see me out unless he saw me at walmart, and at the courthouse. Thats the only places i would frequent. Reporter marie estimates omar mateen may have contacted her as many as 30 times over a threeyear period. We have not been able to independently cooperate her story, but we have no reason to believe its not true. There is at least one other woman who came forward telling the associated press, she, too, was stalked by mateen. Pelley David Begnaud, thank you. Police rescued a dozen girls from a house of horrors in pennsylvania. A man is under arrest, accused of keeping the girls in his home in the town of feasterville. There are allegations tonight the oldest victim was handed over to the suspect, lee kaplan, by her own parents, as a way to pay off a debt to him. According to the criminal complaint, the 18yearold victim is also said to be the mother of two girls fathered by the suspect. Investigators say kaplan began having a sexual relationship with the victim when she was 14. He is under arrest tonight, and his bail has been set at 1 million. As for the girls parents, daniel and savilla stoltzfus, they live in pennsylvanias amish community. They, too, have been arrested with bail set at 1 million each. Police say the father told them he thought gifting his daughter was legal after doing online research. Jen betz, a woman who lives near the home, called police after growing suspicious of activity at the house, a phone call that eventually led to their rescue. I just made the call. I dont know, just an instinct. You notice these little children, little girls, only little girls, and they would be outside very sporadically. Very rarely you would see one or two.
