We begin with a look at todays eye opener, your world in 90 seconds. Mr. Assad conducts another mass murder attack using chemical weapons he and his military will pay a heavy price. The white house issues a stern warning to syria. An ominous warning concerning another possible chemical weapons attack. Cbos report makes clear, this bill is every bit as mean as the house bill. Ive not committed to voting for this bill but i do think it needs to be addressed fairly. Youre on the fence about the bill, the cbo score did not help. We will destroy radical islamic terrorists. The Supreme Court rule part of President Trumps travel ban can go into effect. I am happy the court is taking the case. I hope theyll act with clarity. Hot dry winds are fanning flames in the west. Wildfires now burning from oregon to texas. The flames have been shooting up high, fierce and ferocious. President trump playing host to the white house for the Prime Minister of india. Russell westbrook won his first mvp. On cbs this morning. I dont know if you knew this but i was in russia last week. You know who did know i was in russia . Russian intelligence. Hardcore fans evidently followed me everywhere. This mornings eye opener is presented by toyota lets go places. Captioning funded by cbs welcome to cbs this morning. The Trump Administration says it has evidence that syrias president , bashar al assad, is preparing another delgadoly chemical weapons attack on his own people. The white house issued a warning last night saying if mr. Assad conducts another mass murder attack using chemical weapons he and his military will pay a heavy price. In april you may recall the u. S. Fired cruise missiles at an air base after a gas attack killed more than 80 civilians. Margaret brennan is at the white house with the latest. Good morning. Reporter good morning. The white house has provided no specific evidence of the preparations it said are under way but cbs news has learned that u. S. Intelligence has detected activity at an airfield, the same base and chemical weapons bunker from which the april chemical attack was launched. The u. S. Also detected communications from the individuals who lead that chemical weapons unit. The last time the Trump Administration learned of a chemical weapons attack on syrian civilians, 59 cruise missiles each with a 1,000 pound war head were shot at a syrian airfield and more than a dozen war planes. The u. S. Says that site was used to launch the april 4th onslaught on the town where dozens of people, incluing children, choked on toxic nerve gas. The white house warns a similar atrocity may be imminent saying it, quote, identified potential preparations for another chemical weapons attack by the assad regime that would likely result in the mass murder of civilians including innocent children. No child of god should ever suffer such horror. Reporter at the time President Trump said the images of dying babies moved him to action. Tensions have escalated in recent weeks. The u. S. Has bombed iranian backed militias aligned with the regime three times for threatening u. S. Backed fighters. That angered assads patrons in russia. Their top diplomat spoke with secretary of state Rex Tillerson yesterday about preventing another chemical attack. The u. S. Again called on russia to break its alliance with the syrian dictator. The final outcome in our view does not provide for a role for the assad for assad or for the assad family in the future governance of syria. Reporter last night u. S. Ambassador to the u. N. Nikki haley also raised the stakes, posting on twitter that any further attacks will be blamed on assad but also on russia and iran, who support him killing his own people. The kremlin called those threats unacceptable and the assad regime denied making any preparations for an attack. Now, President Trump will discuss syria in a scheduled phone call with frances leader today. Margaret brennan, thanks. The white house says voters should not trust a new report on the Senate Republicans health care bill. The Congressional Budget Office estimates 22 million more people will be uninsured by 2026 if the senate bill replaces obamacare. That number apparently convinced another senator to vote no. Susan collins is the sixth republican to come out against the plan. Senate leaders can only afford to lose two gop votes. Nancy cordes is on capitol hill. Nancy, good morning. Reporter good morning. And because of that growing gop opposition, the bill may now not come up for a vote this week as planned. Several of those republicans are saying that they will block attempts by gop leaders to bring the bill to the floor as early as today. They view those cbo numbers as proof that this legislation needs a lot more work. I think if you were on the fence about the bill, the cbo score did not help. Reporter south carolinas Lindsey Graham was sounding pessimistic last night and hes likely to vote yes. His colleague Susan Collins announced shes a no. Tweeting 22 Million People lose insurance . Medicaid cuts for most vulnerable americans. One in five residents in her state is on medicaid. According to the cbo report the gop bills steep medicaid cuts would force enrollment down by 15 million americans over ten years, reducing the federal deficit by 321 billion. Many republicans say thats a good thing. These programs are growing at an unsustainable rate. Reporter as for americans in the individual market average premiums would be about 20 lower than underobamacare. But some americans would receive smaller tax credits meaning many would end up with higher out of pocket spending on health care. Hit hardest would be older middle income americans. A 64yearold making roughly 60,000 a year would go from paying about 4,000 a year to 16,000 by 2026. No matter how the bill changes around the edges, it is fundamentally rotten at the center. Reporter the cbo estimates that under the gop plan 15 Million People would drop off coverage next year primarily because obamacares penalty for not having insurance would be eliminated. Gop supporters argue the government shouldnt force people to buy insurance anyway. Thats not denying somebody coverage. Thats a choice by them to drop coverage they already have because they dont have to pay a fine. Reporter holding this bill even temporarily would be a setback for the white house which is slamming the cbo saying the Nonpartisan Office has a history of ip accuracy. The president has been working the phones and the Vice President is sitting down for dinner with four of them tonight. Breaking bread. Thank you so much. The Trump Administration is getting ready to put its temporary travel ban in place. It will stop most visits from six mainly muslim countries for 90 days. The Supreme Court yesterday threw out lower court orders blocking the ban. The president called it a quote, great day for americas future security and safety. Jan crawford is outside the Supreme Court. Good morning. Reporter President Trump has been slapped down at every time by the Appeals Court but the justices get the last word and yesterday they all agreed to allow at least part of his travel ban. So in the next few days the government will stop denying visas to certain travelers from those six countries considered safe havens for terrorism. We will destroy radical islamic terrorism. Reporter President Trump reaffirmed his commitment to National Security during a visit monday by the indian Prime Minister. Except for that tweet steered clear, reacting to his administrations victory. Thank you very much, everybody. Reporter the unsigned opinion announced by john roberts said preverving National Security is an urgent objective of the highest order. Its a unanimous rebuke to two fed ray Appeals Courts that halted the ban nationwide after those courts found it violated federal law and it amounted to unconstitutional religious disdiscrimination against muslims. Reaction from immigrants Rights Groups was swift. This muslim and refugee ban is unjust. It is unamerican. And we will continue to fight it in the courts and in the streets. This is kind of a slap to the face of muslims around the country, and even around the world. Reporter but the court stopped short of allowing the president s full ban to take effect saying it would not apply to immigrants who have a bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United States such as a close Family Member or a position at an American Company or university. I think its premature to call this, you know, a victory or a nonvictory. Reporter Hawaii Attorney general doug chen fought against the ban called that provision a partial win but said his state could still be negatively affected. Anybody outside of the United States whos watching everything thats happened, theres no question, you know, this that what has happened has created a chilling effect. Reporter the justices scheduled arguments for october but the administration had originally said it needed this travel ban while it reviewed immigration vetting procedures so by then the whole case could be moot. Gayle . All right, jan. Thank you. The white house has nominated Christopher Wray to be the new fbi director. Pruch said nearly three weeks ago now that wray would replace james comey, who was fired last month. Wray was an assistant attorney general under president george w. Bush. In a statement wray said hes honored and humbled to be nominated. He promised quote, complete commitment to fairly and honorably protecting our country, upholding our constitution and laws. Reporter good morning. Firefighters, 1,400 of them are doing everything they can to get a handle on the fire, including using bulldozers to draw lines an the worst part of the blaze. At this point in time, the fire is only about 9 contained. Thats because crews on monday faced tough weather conditions including low humidity, high winds and extreme heat. That forced more evacuations to the north of this fire. Conditions should be a little better today, but people are worried its no match for this fire season. Officials say theyve never seen anything like this, a wind fuelled fire covering so much ground so quickly, so early in the fire season. Whats the worst Case Scenario with this fire . The worst Case Scenario is if the weather conditions continue as they are and thats very windy. Reporter nir Information Officer david acre said redflag warnings are in place for the next few days, meaning the dangerous fire conditions will continue. Its been a wind driven fire from the very beginning. Winds up to 30 Miles Per Hour, gusts even higher than that and when wind is pushing a fire at that kind of speed its difficult to get out in front of it for the firefighters. Reporter more than 1,500 people in the fires path have been forced to evacuate. I dont want anybody to get murt. If the cabin burns well deal with it and rebuild it. But you cant replace a life. Reporter firefighters in the west are also battling the heat. Temperatures hit the midninety in prescott, arizona, near a fire thats burned 1,500 acres. In southern california, the mercury hit close to 100 degrees when when a wildfire broke out west of palm springs. Closing down a highway and prompting an evacuation warning for two mountain communities. Firefighters in utah dont expect to contain this fire until mid july. This is unusual because its so early in the season. It is. Normally this kind of fire in this area would be more like in august. So its pretty unprecedented to see this kind of fire activity and behavior. Reporter firefighters say someone using a blow torch to burn weeds is what caused this fire to start. They will not say who the person is or if there could be any charges coming. We do know, however, to fight this fire its cost more than 7 million. Thank you so much. Slow, stop, go. Lets check in with roberta now on the forecast. Thanks, jaclyn. Hi,everybody. Good morning. We do have the return of the june gloom along the coast into the bay and even streaming inland at this hour. Take a look at that. Now, watch this. This is the view from mount vaca. You can see in the distance the layer of low clouds and fog surging into the mount diablo area. Shrouding the trivalley. We have some clear skies over vacaville. Temperaturewise 57 degrees in santa rosa and in redwood city. High 50s in livermore, low 60s oakland and there you have low clouds and fog that will back off today. Good morning to our viewers in the west. It is tuesday, june 27, 2017. Welcome back to cbs this morning. Ahead, the white house warning to syrias president. We have new information on possible plans for another chemical attack by the syrian regime. Also, how the details of the Senate Health care bill beicoul affect your coverage, but first heres todays eye opener at 8. The Trump Administration says it has evidence that syria is preparing another chemical weapons attack. Cbs has learned that u. S. Intelligence has detected activity. Because of growing gop opposition, the bill may not come up for a vote this week as planned. President trump has been slapped down at every turn by the Appeals Court, but the justices get the last word and yesterday they all agreed to allow at least part of his travel ban. Firefighters are doing everything they can to try to get a handle on the fire. Conditions here today should be a little bit better, but people are worried its no match for this fire season. It is for sale, the island declared bankruptcy last month. Are you in the market for an island . It is a great play. Ill call somebody. The ranger work is amazing. Thanks. What do you say, michael keaton, Everybody Knows michael keaton. Yeah. I found out youre not michael keaton. Correct. I did not know that that was just a stage name and you have another name. Your real name you actually use and tell the people what it is. My real name is douglas. Michael douglas. Immediately gets a laugh. Im charlie rose with gayle king and norah odonnell. Cbs news has new information about a possible chemical weapons attack that may be planned by syrian president bashar al assad. The white house last night issued an extraordinary warning to the syrian leader. It says he will pay, quote, a heavy price if he launches another chemical attack. A u. S. Official says intelligence detected activity near the same Syrian Chemical Weapons bunker connected to that deadly attack back in april. More than 80 people including children were killed. In response, the u. S. Fired 59 cruise missiles at a Syrian Government air base and Margaret Brennan is at the white house with more on the story. Margaret, good morning. Reporter good morning. This ominous white house statement was issued late last night after u. S. Intelligence detected activity around shayrat airfield. Now that is the same location from which that deadly april chemical weapons attack was launched. According to what a u. S. Official tells our own cbs news david martin there is activity around that same chemical weapons bunker that was not destroyed due to fear it would spread the toxic material. The u. S. Has also picked up increased communications by the syrian unit responsible for chemical weapons. However, it is not clear whether that is preparation for an attack or simply movement for another reason such as an inspection. U. S. Dip the mas tell me that they were caught off guard by the Strong Language that was used in this white house statement. However, this did come just hours after a tense phone call between russias top diplomat and secretary of state Rex Tillerson. That extraordinary warning came following the call during which russia did confirm that preventing future chemical weapons attacks was a conversation point. Lavrov also said he was very frustrated at three recent u. S. Military strikes against militias who are backing the assad regime. Now, norah, we do know that later this morning President Trump has plans to speak with frances leader manuel macron, and i am hearing from european diplomats that they are seeing very similar intelligence, tracking what we just told you u. S. Intelligence officials have seen, and they will be discussing this on the call with trump. Military activity and options have been a point of conversation in france, as well. Margaret, thanks. The Senate Health care bill faces growing opposition after a Congressional Budget Office report. At least six gop senators now oppose the bill and right now there is not enough support to bring it to a vote. The nonpartisan cbo estimates 22 million fewer people will have less insurance under the current law. It plans to cut it by 221 billion. A 21yearold earning 57,000 a year would pay 5100 for a silver plan. A 64yearold with the same income would pay 6800. Tax credits would cover part of that cost. The senate plan would reduce the 21yearolds premium, but the 64yearold would pay more than 20,000. The older person would receive no tax credit and could be charged up to five times more than a younger person. The white house says the cbo cannot accurately predict how Health Care Legislation will impact insurance coverage. Lets now take a closer look at those senate numbers in the senate bill and how the legislation could affect your coverage. Shannon pettypiece, White House Correspondent for Bloomberg News is with us from washington. Good morning. Just after sharing with our viewers those numbers, what factors into how much someone pays for healthcare . Two of the big factors are the subsidies and how much insurers can charge people bhwh are older. As those charts illustrate very well, they can charge older people more for insurance. A 64yearold, someone in their 50s and 60s can pay five times a healthy person and you will see their costs go up and the subsidies for people who are upper, lower, middle income go dont get as much subsidy and a tax credit. So thats what has these sort of older, lowerincome americans bearing the biggest brunt of these changes. Yet twhy the tax benefits fo wealthy people . It fits with larger ideology of cutting tax credits and believing that fewer taxes will be better for Economic Growth and one of the key principles driving republicans desire to repeal and replace obamacare is to get rid of these taxes and part of the bigger ideology of a lowtax economy. The largest savings come from reductions in the medicaid spending and 70 million americans rely on medicaid. What does this mean for them, shannon . Eventually millions of people will lose medicaid coverage according to the cbo coverage. It will be rolled back and it will be harder in the future to qualify for medicaid and hospitals and Nursing Homes and institutions that depend on those medicaid payments will eventually see cuts with how quickly the money given to states can grow. One of the things that obamacare did was required coverage of essential benefits, birth control, Maternity Care, vaccines, Mental Health. This bill does not. So how will this affect coverage . Well, thats an excellent point. So now insurers do not have to provide these sort of basic services, even doctors visits and Prescription Drug coverage which they didnt have to do before this law. So if you have an employee plan, you dont think this affects you. Now your employer could provide you a really skinny, basic plan that maybe doesnt even cover doctors visits or Prescription Drug coverage or Mental Health or Maternity Care and vaccines and even people who think i have coverage from my employer, they dont have to provide that to you under the Affordable Care act. How do they justify the fact that it will affect the people who supported them most enthusiastically during the election . This bill really is in line with what republicans have been talking about ideologically for more than eight years. Of course, theyve been talking about repeal and replace obamacare. They were elected on that, i dont think anybody doubted their interest in repealing obamacare, but they also dont like entitlements. So the cuts to the Medicaid Program which is something that a lot of supporters in red states benefit from, the republicans view that as an entitlement and they feel the program has gotten too big, too expansive as governmentrun health care and theres a lot of waste in the system and theyre trying to bring it back to people who are disabled and children and not ablebodied adults and thats the ideology behind this. To be continued. Thanks a lot. Tennis star Serena Williams fired back last night at controversial comments made by john mcenroe. The hall of famer won seven grand slam singles titles. He spent 170 weeks as the sports top player. Since leaving the tour in 1992 mcenroe has become an outspoken commentator and hes pursued jobs off the court from tv host to art collector. Hes discussed his struggle to reinvent himself in this new book but seriously, good morning. Whats new . Whats going on . Lets just start with the elephant in the room. Thats right. Why was it necessary for you to say that serena couldnt beat the 700th player . As you know well enough, charlie, ive i respect serena very much so, and i was simply calling her on npr was supposedly, this is where you can say it like it is and youre going to get honest feedback. Shes the greatest player female player that ever lived. Then the lady said to me, i dont remember which one, but she said why did you say woman . Why dont you just say the greatest tennis player that ever lived, and so then i felt the need, however unfortunately, probably, to defend myself. I dont know, just say what i really felt, i mean which is about what i think she would be. I think youre referring to the fact that i said shed be about 700th in the world. I have a solution, gayle, because i know youre friendly with serena im clutching the table right now. Im just waiting would you like to apologize. No. The offer is this, because it seems in tennis, unlike other sports that theyre always asking about how women, and how i would do and why isnt this old bag john mcenroe, how would he do against serena. Why dont you combine, to solve the problem. Im sure the men would be all for this that the men and women play together and then we dont have to guess. John, you didnt answer charlies question. You really do need to answer charlies question. Why did you do this . It wasnt necessary. It was not necessary. You knew i didnt know it would create you didnt . John. Ive said this a thousand does bobby riggs mean anything to you . Wait, what do you think, charlie, youre a tennis guy. You like to play tennis. I do. I see you on the tennis court i adore and respect you, but please, please keep me out of your statements if they are not factually based. Theyre not factually based. Serena has a way with words. Ive been in the room five different times with five of my kids were born. I dont want anything wrong with serena because shes pregnant. I dont want to upset her or whatever it was. I think she was doing a tongue in cheek, as well, and i think that deep down were talking about something i cant even believe were talking about it. John nonetheless, if you want to keep talking about it, id be more than happy to. I actually do, but i think and another thing men are stronger and men are faster and i get that, but it sort of belittles what women do on the tennis court, and i think thats why people are upset and the fact that you ranked her at 700. So my question to you is she won australia weeks pregnant. You ranked her at 700 on the mens. Where would you rank yourself . Myself youre asking me at 58 years of age where i would be ranked if i had to play best of five which is what the men have to do at majors . Yes. I would be currently 1200th in the world. I mean, i have a Tennis Academy at Randalls Island where i lose to kids that are 16 and 17. There are pros, like, 37 pros, gayle, at my club, six or seven of whom on a bad day i would lose to and we could go on and on, and i was the former number one player in the world. People just say, look, john mcenroe is trying to get publicity for his book. Well, i am, but not this way. I never wanted to play serena. People always asked me about playing serena, and did they ask Roger Federer about playing her . Let me come to the book because we dont have that much time. How much time do we have . A couple of forget the book no, we dont want to forget the book. Its not in the book, this part. What is it that you want us to take away from your story and understanding you . In essence, hopefully, that im trying to look at the Glass Half Full even battered by these same questions over and over and over again, but hopefully with some perspective and Life Experiences and things that have happened to me that all in all, i feel like im in a better place and i can share some of that. Your wife patty says youre in a better place. You really credit her. Patty says you always wanted to be better at everything, a better father, a better person, a better human being and you say, too, that youve changed on the anchor front. How so . Well, its a work in progress, gayle. Yeah. Of course. My whole life. Just when you started this segment it was my most famous line, you cannot be serious. In a way, i admit its somewhat pathetic in a way that thats what were still talking about, but i think its also because maybe ive become a slightly more bearable person to put up with and hopefully a nicer person and that that was something that i went through that was great at the time and im proud of that in its own ways. What could you have done to have won more tournaments and more championships . I could have gone to australia the first six years of my career for starters when i didnt play there at all, and i could have trained harder. I trained hard and people say i didnt and thats not true. No apology to serena, really . I would be happy to apologize to serena if that makes you feel better and i think serena is incredible and please tell me what everyone would ible. We continue to track slowdowns for drivers heading along 101. All due to an earlier crash. Southbound direction right near whipple speeds drop to around 20 Miles Per Hour as you approach the scene. Traffic backed up into burlingame. Its a slow ride across the san mateo bridge out of hayward into foster city. You can see in the red 33 minutes looks like we have some flashing lights on the span, as well. 880 the nasty nimitz we continue to see slowdowns 33 minutes from 238 to the maze. Southbound direction 45 minutes from 238 to 37. 880 accident just past high street blocking one lane. The bay bridge backup is slow into San Francisco. Heres roberta with the forecast. We know its been overcast, its june gloom all morning but it appears to have gotten darker and gray outside. Right now from our kpix 5 studios, we are looking out past pier 9. You can see the flags waving. The winds out of the west up to 13 Miles Per Hour. While we do have the deck of stratus there, look at whats going on over there in the mount vaca area. But in the distance you can see that blanket of clouds. The marine layer has streamed inland a good 50 miles shrouding the trivalley. You can see the tiptop of mount diablo. I think thats just gorgeous. Lots of blue skies once the clouds retreat. Refreshing, temperatures right now in the 50s and 60s. And there you have our satelliteradar that shows you the intrusion of the marine layer. That is pushed onshore. We have a lot of cooler air mass aloft. So bottom line is once the clouds back up to the immediate seashore, temperatures with the sliver of sunshine in pacifica in the low 60s. I wouldnt bank on any sunshine in half moon bay. 61 degrees there. Otherwise 81 full forecast in santa rosa. 60s common around the bay today, 70s around the peninsula. And look at livermore. 78 degrees typically should be at 85. Each day last week we were in the triple digits. We have just a degree warmer each day wednesday through friday and saturday. Then well hang on to this pattern through next week. Welcome back to cbs this morning. We ran short on time in our last half hour, so we said to john mcenroe, please stay, because your book is really good. Its very revealing about who you are, how you became who you became. And why. And why. The one thing that struck me is you really bond with artists and comedians. You can see how they do what they do because theyre solitary out there. You go to an art show and people look at it and you hear these comments, a lot of them pretty tough at times and then i was oon the tennis court, played a lot of matches where people would come out saying youre a jerk. Which theyre apparently saying now about what i said about serena and i think going to a standup comedy place and lay it out there bare, at times i felt it out there. But you love this game. I do love it. Im concerned its not going in the right direction. I think that the game is not accessible, affordable enough. Its like the 1 , the rich are getting richer. I just disagree with the direction that were headed generally, but specifically tennis, i mean, its sort of like a microcosm. Not enough kids can afford to play. Its not sexy enough. Weve got to do more to get people on the court. You also said being angry on the court made you a better player. How . Well, i got more intense and i dug a little deeper. Maybe threw my opponents off a few times. I didnt do that deliberately. Some people wont believe that. Later on when it became abvous. You didnt play for the camera or the crowd . In the beginning it was me as a kid trying to change the sport and bring it to the masses the same way that people look at football and basketball, all the other games. Theyre not saying hello on the football field. Whos the greatest player today . Roger is the greatest and raf fa. I mean, i look at these guys, i mean, i admire roger but how much he loves it is what i really respect. But is it roger or my rankings would be roger, raffa, then id three pete sam pras in. Hes the greatest fast court player. Serena williams at five, and number six, you happy now . There really is no need to compare men and women. How come we always do it then in tennis and not other sports. Go to the other sports and ask them how they would do or a boxer. Like the wnba. Well, that bobby riggs when he played Billy Jean King and he threw the match, but no, im kidding. If you had thats a whole other story. Watch out tomorrow. Ill be back tomorrow at 8 15. If you hadnt have found tennis, what would it have been art or music . I love seeing a great piece of art is inspiring but it would have been awful nice to be a guitar player like Keith Richards and the rolling stones. You golf loved hanging out with them. I cant deny that. Well, you guys are great at more than one thing and so you know, im thankful that i was good at one thing. Thanks for having me a few more minutes. Incredible to watch. Thank you. I appreciate it. Seriously is on sale now and going to be on the late show with stephen colbert. I thought i wasut this guy just came back from russia an hour ago or something. All right. Well be watching. The new york Police Department is working to show its softer side you could say with some of its newest cruisers. Kris van cleave is in central park. One ride at a time. Good morning. Reporter good morning. You know whrks we talk about police cars, these turn heads when their lights and sirens are on. One doesnt have a siren its a big reaction for something thats anything but. This isnt the cruiser you were expecting but the nations biggest city is okay with that. So is officer donnie. You are probably driving the worlds most smallest patrol car. Yes, i am. Its the smallest and most compact but its a good ride. A ride he uses to patrol central park. The smart car is intended for one officer only so no bad guys in here. They use it mostly for distriti writing and other things. I tell them i want to look inside. Its not as bad as you think. Reporter unlike the three wheeled scooter its replacing it comes with air conditioning and air bags and costs six grand left. When you went to the staff and said, i want to add smart cars, what did they say . They said no. I would call it friendly. I would call it neighborhood friendly its disarming. Its kissable and huggable. The cruiser is proofing to be a hit, the public cant seem to get enough. What do you think of the consider . Good. Reporter to the worlds cutest police car, even youre kidding, right . But all these pictures are generating bigtime social media buzz. The horses may be bigger but which is smarter . What do you think . It was cool. Cool right . The kind of cool that makes a park full of strangers approach a police car and the officers. Whats that like . Youve got people coming up and taking pictures. Yeah, it feels good. A lot of people come up to me and ask for pictures and its always a good feeling. Reporter this police car does not respond to emergency calls and theyre not to exceed 40 miles an hour in the car so its not going to replace your bigger Police Cruisers but it is proving you can get very big things out of one very smart car. Im sure the big cruisers will be around too. A lack love government oversight, a cosmetics and personal products more than doubled to nearly 1,600 complaints between 2015 and 2016 but that east estimated to be just a fraction of the actual number. Our doctor joins us at the table to discuss. Good to see you. Good to see you. What reactions are you worried about . These are products that we probably all used this morning. Hair care products, perfume, some very common ones. We used them every day for years. Certain brands or its basically this industry of cleansing, beautify occasion and changing our appearance. Thats what were talking about. There are about 396 adverse events reported every year and that probably is the tip of the iceberg because we know that research has shown that nearly less concern because there are really very minimal safety overnight. I think thats surprising that theres a lot of people. This jump that you talked about was primarily from three different product lines. Hair care, skin care and tattoos and the complaints can range from allergic reactions and then longer term concerns about cancer, and other problems. Is it pushed for more oversight . I think it needs to be on sonl level but theres no need for premarket safety approval. Manufacturers dont need to report to the fda if there are complaints. There is no need to register products. Theres no need to give them products. We wait until products arise and then they can investigate and they really dont recall product from the market. You would think that most people would use deodorant and hair care. Is there something that we should look to buy sh. There are thousands of chemicals that make up all kinds of ingredients but manufacturers dont have to list the ingredients because they can be trade secrets or special formizatio formulatio formulations. Pick products with the fewest ingredien ingredients. Pick products with chemicals that are tried, tested over the years. And you also want to pick products that are dye free, preservative froee and if you have an issue i think the big reason for this letter was to say to report it. Report it to the fda, the beforer. The fda has a website you can go to. You fill out on online form and the more data we have as the as the author said, if we cant measure it we cant manage it. Thats what we need to do. Thank you very much. You can find a link to the fdas adverse event reporting system on our website. That is cbs this morning. Com. And a rare inside view of the u. S. Military shadowy drone war. During one form they removed 14 of the 20 most wanted terrorists from the battle field in iraq, 160 plus raids lead to the capture of more than 400 leaders. He shares his experiences in a new book called drone warrior. Welcome. Thank you for having me. You had did take us inside, i have to say. I want people to get a sense of you. Youre a freshman at the houston. 9 11 happens. And in november youre standing in front of the a recruiter saying i got to get involved in this. Absolutely. I think everyone else 9 11 ended all of us and for me it was a wake up call to realize there was so much more i can do with my life and really join something that was bigger than myself. So i joined the army with the intent of doing everything i could in the best way i knew how to do it is join the intelligence corps. At the age of 25 youre saying you can make decisions on who lives or dies. I rose through the ranks fairly fast. I was given an incredible responsibility with some of the organizations i worked with to really essentially hunt down some of the worlds most evil people. So my job was specifically to choose these targets and find them so they can either be captured or killed. Theres a chain of command in terms of approval on those targets . Yeah. Absolutely. But at the levels we were at, especially in the war zones i operated in. That delegation was brought to the lowest levels. If somebody like me was dealing with the politics of the decisionmaking process of who should do what, then we werent doing our job. In the book you called the head of Isis Al Baghdadi the smartest terrorist youve ever hunted. Why do you say that . Considering that despite the fact hes one of the most evil human beings on the planet and i had to watch the terrible things he did, we made him very pair noid. We were capturing and killing guys around him. You know, watching the things he did on a daily basis and getting to understand the mind set of how he operated. And the fact is for him to be able to stay alive after all of the things we did over these years and the great men and women were in the positions i was were doing against his organization, that takes a brilliant mind. When youre on our list how did he know well i think, you know, there were some recent reports that maybe baghdadi had been killed by the russians and he doesnt stay anywhere for two weeks. He doesnt stay anywhere for a month at a time. Hes not a u. S. General that is surround by the different lieutenants under him and other people. He is moving constantly. We, as an Operational Task force, to go after him. We had to move like he did. Our organization was built in a way that could be as mobile as they were because, you know, terrorists arent taking weekends off. Youre not the one that pulled the trigger. Because of your intelligence of the unit that you were with, you were making decisions. When you said you became desensitive to death even though youre not pulling the trigger. Absolutely. Think about it. You know, never before in the history of the world have we had this ability to know so much about our enemy. Thats one of the things that Drone Technology was able to give me so i can hunt these guys down. With that you see some terrible things that these guys are doing. You also see the humanity in it. I see the isis leader that is, you know, driving his kids to the bus stop or a few hours later hes driving a car into a marketplace to kill innocent people. I see some of the worst things on earth. Thats the job i signed up to do. With that, its hard to disconnect yourself from it. So it took years for me to be able to do that. Are they going to have access to the same kind of technology that we have so that they can use technology, the internet in the same way we do . I think in some ways they use it a little better than us. They dont have to play by the same rules we do. Thats why you see groups like isis that are modifying commercial drones and weaponizing them in a way that is better than even certain governments have the capability to do. Especially nowadays when you see this gap closing between the u. S. Governments top secrettype drones and consumer drones, its kind of scary to think about all the things you can do with it now and isis and groups like that understand that well. Do you think well catch baghdadi . In my opinion, hes already dead he doesnt know it. You know, its a matter of time. The u. S. Government is out there hunting these guys down every day. What i think is important for people to understand the position that i was in and guys that are doing this job now and talk to them about who is the next baghdadi. Because baghdadi is finished. If were in the business of revenge, then we lost the war. We need to be finding the next. Theres always going to be an organization or terrorist that hates americans and wants to fight us here on our soil. Thank you. School of business. Yeah. Absolutely. Good for you. Be right back. Thank you. That does it for us. Were getting a look at a new report on misconduct complaints against San Jose Police officers. Overall. Complaints were down from 303 in 2015. To 292 last year.
