She arrived a short time ago for a special House Committee hearing on the deadly benghazi attacks in 2012. Her use of a private email server for state Department Business is also likely to come up. A new poll nearly half of americans believe clinton has not been honest about how she handled emails at shoves but over half the people surveyed are tired of hearing about it. Nancy cordes is live from capitol hill with new details on what to expect. Reporter good morning. Secretary clinton has arrived. The hearing is scheduled to start right now. Hundreds of people have been lined up for hours waiting to witness her undergo hours of questioning about a tragedy that happened on her watch. An aide says shell argue you can never fully eliminate the risks of overseas diplomacy. People try to say its about Hillary Clinton. Its not. I think in order to dispel the claims that were made by their own members that this is all about secretary clinton, an effort to damage her, i think at least initially theyll keep a focus on benghazi. Reporter democrats and a couple of gop lawmakers have said publicly that the panel is a partisan effort to damage the Democratic Front runner. They initially wanted to hold two hearings, one about benghazi, another about her use of a private email account, something the committee uncovered when it asked the state department for her emails. Democrats argue her emails have nothing to do with the committees stated purpose, to investigate the benghazi attacks that left four americans dead. You say its not about Hillary Clinton, but democrats say this is the first public hearing youve held with anyone in nine months. Its been a while. But the state department has been stonewalling. They are the ones who have been dragging their feet. Reporter clinton has not had a public event since the weekend, as she prepares for this hearing that could go eight hours or longer. A new poll shows the latest on the democratic race in iowa. The Des Moines Register Bloomberg Politics poll shows Hillary Clinton leading Bernie Sanders 48 to 41 . And i think he did the smart thing, because frankly i dont know that he would have won, he wouldnt have gotten the nomination. I dont think i probably would have. And frankly, i really want to run against hillary. I really do. Reporter that was always the fear among those closest to biden, that a third run for the presidency would fail, and that could tarnish not only his time here at the white house but possibly his entire political career. A key conservative group in Congress Says it will back paul ryan to be speaker of the house. It now appears ryan will have enough votes to be elected next week. The former Vice President ial candidate says he will only take the job if the factions support him, because the Freedom Caucus supported him after a meeting last night. But some say they are not willing to meet ryans preconditions for serving. Ben carson now leads the gop field in iowa. Thats according to the Quinnipiac University poll out this morning. I think what to watch for is that one moment nancy mentioned. It will be a full day of testimony, four rounds of questioning. And she has to basically be calm and measured throughout, so that there is not going to lead the evening news thats going to show her losing her cool. She needs the opposite. This is her last big obstacle for the month of october. What was at the heart of joe bidens decision not to run . This is kind of the way he makes decisions. The heart of it was the emotional reaction to his sons death. At the very heart of it, i think, he just couldnt pull it off. Hillary clinton is a formidable candidate. To raise the money and put together an organization in the thick of a campaign, just too difficult for him to do. On tuesday he met with his political advisors and said there was a question, can we raise the money in time. I think there was my understanding is there was a question whether they could put the fundamentals in place. Thats right. What they knew is even if they could do it, it was going to be really hard. Its very hard to build a campaign while youre running a campaign. Campaigns that have tried to do that have mostly failed in the past. He said yesterday, he ran out of time, but people wonder is that the real story. Does his dropping out give Hillary Clinton a clear path . It would look like it. Shes got endorsements within the party. Shes doing well in the polls. Shes got lots of money. This would have been a challenge to her candidacy, but now, with just Bernie Sanders, shes got a lot of support in those future states. Tough in new hampshire, close in iowa. But if you run down the rest of the states in the democratic contest, shes doing very well. Joe biden is really obsessed and committed to finding a cure for cancer. Thats right. If his son asked him to run for president , and that was going to be the mission for the rest of his life, he has now put a new mission in front of him. For a person whos been in politics in washington since 1970, who has been committed to his ascent, this might be a new crusade for him. What about the same question in iowa . Ben carson trumping donald trump. Carson is on top, perhaps it means a conflict between the two of them. Also, ted cruz very far behind. Hes behind even marco rubio in iowa. David martin is at the pentagon with the unfolding story. David, good morning. Reporter overnight american and iraqi commandos conducted a raid into northern iraq, in isisheld territory, where a large number of kurdish prisoners were being held hostage. Details remain murky, but a u. S. Official says 70 hostages were freed. However, one american soldier was killed. We dont know yet how that soldier died. We dont know whether the iraqis lost any soldiers. And we dont know whether there were any casualties among the hostages. There are reports, as yet unconfirmed, that a number of isis fighters were killed and others captured during the raid. This war against isis has been going on for 14 months. And this would be the first time an american soldier has been killed in combat. David, thank you. This Morning Police in sweden say a man wearing a mask attacked a school with a sword, killing a teacher. In the last hour police announced a second person has died. The stabbings took place in an Industrial City in southwestern sweden. Initial reports say three people were wounded. The attacker targeted people in the cafeteria area. The police say the suspect was shot and wounded. A man in new mexico is facing a murder charge for a road rage killing of a fouryearold girl. A gunman admitted to shooting into the car of her dad. Reporter good morning. Tony torrez is in custody this morning, being held on a 650,000 bond. This Newest Development comes after an outpouring of donations came in for lillys family, a clear indication that this case turned from road rage into outrage. Tony torrez was taken into custody wednesday afternoon while driving this grayishgreen sedan. The 32yearold later confessed to the road rage death of fouryearold lilly garcia. Appearing to wrap up the way we hoped it would. Reporter the shooting happened on tuesday. Lillys father said he had just picked up her and her brother from school. Both children were in the back seat and torrez allegedly cut off their pickup truck on the freeway. Police say the two men exchanged heated words before torrez started shooting into the vehicle. Fouryearold lilly was the only one shot. She was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance but did not survive. The officers on scene, it was traumatic for them. They literally saw a fouryearold little girl with a severe gunshot wound, which she died from. Reporter authorities had offered a 36,000 reward for information that led to an arrest. It was a tip that led police to torrez on wednesday. I saw them talking to a guy with a red baseball cap. All the police got around him and started talk to him. Reporter a Family Member thanked the public for their support on a memorial website page set up in lillys honor. Her father memorialized his daughter on social media, writing, she was the light of my life, my little girl showed me how to truly love. Police say an anonymous caller provided the information that led to yesterdays arrest of tony torrez in new mexico. This morning, the Memorial Fund for lilly and her family continues to grow. Norah . According to the taipei times, China Airlines is said to be seeking compensation from the woman for the cost and delay caused by her babys birth. S. , the baby could still have the right to remain in the country, if she was born within a 12mile radius of the United States. If, for some reason, the people of customs and Border Protection decided she shouldnt be in the United States, they would then send her back on the next plane and then the child, who is an american, can stay here until the child was able to be repatriated back to taiwan. Well, this is a very interesting survey, because we found that people around the globe, this is 31,000 people around the globe in the survey, are more optimistic about their financial future and they actually know what they need to do, but they are not doing anything about it. And so we see that because people are sitting more in cash than ever before. And cash is not going to get you where you need to get to in retirement. So they are being conservative even thorough optimistic about the future. Why . Well, for different groups. Some have gone through the financial crisis and they saw what can happen and some of them saw their homes decline 50 , some saw their assets decline 50 . They remember every single time they lost money. The millennials didnt have a lot of assets and are investing and they are spending most of the time on their computer is about Financial Advice and financial information. They are actually investing in the future. And a lot of people are also nervous and staying in cash because its a security blanket. And they are very nervous about a lot of the headlines and they just dont want to be in that position again. Well, we know where it is and we know how much we got, that is why there is something very comfort baggage that when you have cash. Youre saying not a smart thing to do . Or we need it right away and we have it. Go under the mattress and pull it out, rob. What did you learn about men and women . Its very complicated because people know they are going to live longer. When did living longer become a problem . Instead of spending ten years in retirement, youre going to spend 14 to 18 and they havent saved enough. So what is interesting about savings is there is a difference between men and women. Men are actually starting to save. Women are not saving as much as men and the reason for that is because they control the household financials. They would rather spend today on their children than put away for their own retirement. I wouldnt say i honestly wouldnt say its a choice. I mean, of course, youre going to spend on your children. Honestly. Its like am i going to get my kids new shoes and new backpack for school or save money . Im going to buy my kid the money because they knee shoes for school. But you need to save for retirement because youre living much longer. Maybe if you take care of your kids as well they will allow you to move back in with them because youre going to need to move back in with them. You sound like my mother. She used to say that all the time the average person claims that they need 45,000 dollars of income for retirement. And if you take their assets today and what its generating because they have so much in cash, they are only generating 9,000. There is a 36,000 dollar gap and you cannot make up that gap by staying in cash. Where should we invest . Without respect to stocks or particular things, give us the rules that you think work in terms of what you do. So everyones risk profile is different. Your age is different. But, in general, most people in the early stages of their life should be 65 in equities and 35 in bonds and very little in cash. Over your lifetime, that equity percentage declines and the bond percentage increases. Today, the average household has 65 to 70 cash. You cant invest for the future in the future and what we are trying to create awareness about, its not timing the market. Its time in the market. So people need to get invested today, especially the millennials. The millennials are actually doing this. They are spending time. They realize they need to use technology, but they also realize they need advice and they are actually going and getting advice and they are teaching the next generations how to do this.
