Japanese police this morning are investigating Death Threats against United States ambassador Caroline Kennedy. The American Embassy in tokyo received threatens phone calls last month. Reports of the threat surfaced hours before First Lady Michelle Obama arrived in japan this morning. Her first visit to that country. Seth doane is tracking the investigation from beijing. Reporter japanese media is reporting those phone calls were made to the u. S. Embassy last month, and that the caller was speaking english. U. S. Ambassador Caroline Kennedy is quite highprofile of course, as the daughter of former u. S. President john f. Kennedy. The threats are similar to those made against u. S. Consul general based on the Southern Japanese island of okinawa. Protests regularly pop up in okinawa over the location of u. S. Military bases. And the presence of american troops stationed there. This morning the secret service is investigating a letter sent to the white house that tested positive for cyanide. Like all letters addressed to the president or anyone on his senior staff the letter was screened first at an offsite facility here in the washington, d. C. Area but miles from the white house. On monday the letter was submitteded for biological testing and the results were negative. The following day, a chemical Screening Test came back with a presumptive reading, positive for cyanide. Now, that is a potential lethal toxin that attacks the heart and nervous system. Now, the contents described to us as a milky substance inside a container now are undergoing further testing and the secret service will not comment on the criminal investigation of the origins of the letter the motive behind it or if any arrests are imminent. So far, no reports of exposure to cyanide. By the way, this white house letter processing facility really ramped up its ability to test for chemical and biological agents after the 9 11 terrorist attacks when anthraxlaced letters were sent to the white house and capitol hill. Air force veteran is facing similar charges. U. S. Investigators believe tairod pugh turned his back on this country and was preparing to join the terrorist group. The air force trained 47yearold tairod pugh in the last 1980s to repair airplane engines and weapon systems. Recently he been working in the middle east as a contractor when according to Court Documents on january 10th he flew from cairo, egypt, to istanbul turkey. U. S. Investigators believe his plan was to join isis in syria, but he raised alarms when he told authorities in turkey he was with the United States special forces and sought to enter turkey for vacation. He was sent back to egypt and eventually deported to the United States. The photos some included this Police Report show women allegedly passed out or asleep seemingly photographed without their consent. Police say they were recovered from a once private Facebook Page created by members of the Kappa Kappa Delta rho fraternity. They were primarily of fee maims undressed. They were disturbed. They believe the photos were taken here at the Kappa Delta Rho house. We asked members for comments yesterday. Are you guys no comment. Youre on our property. In january a former Kappa Delta Rho member alerted authorities of the Facebook Page. That had been taken down last year after a woman saw her image pulled down from a laptop in a frat house. She asked them to remove her photo but did not report the fraternity to authorities. They say in addition to the suspension theyre conducting a full membership review and reorganization. A number of studies have suggest thad breastfeeding increases iq during childhood but we didnt know exactly how long those potential benefits lasted. This study looked at more than 3,000 kids in brazil and followed them for 30 years. It turns out compared to kids who were breast fed for a month, kids breast fed for a year or longer had four points longer in their iq,ed stay in school a year longer. Thats the equivalent of the monthly equivalent in brazil. There were a number of things they were looking at and ultima ultimately they think it was breastfeeding. Like the mothers education level, the parents income the birth weight of the baby. A lot of things. Exactly. There are a number of factors. But is there a suggestion that theres something about breastfeeding that increase yours iq other than the fact that it just does. There is that. Threaten are a number of things. What studies like this run into problems with, the question is always is it the breast milk itself or is it the breastfeeding that can be the benefit . I think its both. We know it has a number of nutrients that supports the developing brain and the nervous system.
