Torrential rain is causing flooding where team usa is playing germany in less than two hours. In fact up to three feet of water is flowing through the streets. So far the game is still on. Team usa was greeted with cheers from american fans as they arrived. Players spent the last three days recovering and regrouping after a physical first game against ghana and an emotional tie against portugal. We have an intimate knowledge of the team. Michael bradley, who now plays in toronto in Major League Soccer has played in germany for a while too, so our players are very familiar with them. I dont think they know us as well as we know them so i think thats a real advantage. How good is germany . Theyre one of the top teams in the world. Could win the world cup, thats how good they are. Look i think their back four can be exposed, their defenders can be exposed, but they have great attackers, so well have to defend very very well. Its also raining hard in new england and those storms caused flash flooding in places Like State College pennsylvania. Look at this. Police near albany new york are telling drivers to stay off the flooded roads this morning. Meanwhile high water in ft. Worth, texas trapped a pregnant woman in the middle of a street and more rain today in minnesota could make things even worse. Part of this Amusement Park near the twin cities is already under water. 35 minnesota counties declared flood emergencies. The Mississippi River is expected to crest today. And there are new details overnight in the hunt for Malaysia Airlines flight 370. More than three months after it vanished on a trip from kuala lumpur to beijing, the search area is shifting and theres a new clue about how the plane got off course. Jeff pegues is tracking these developments. Reporter good morning, and good morning to our viewers in the west. Investigators have revealed new information about the missing malaysia air jet. They spent weeks combing through satellite data to try to identify its location. They believe this new lead will help find its final resting place. Investigators say before mh370 went down it was likely on auto pilot. Certainly for its path across the indian ocean, we are confident that the aircraft was operating in auto pilot until it ran out of fuel. Reporter expert analysis determined that after that the plane ended up farther south in the indian ocean than originally thought, but still along the seventh arc where the plane last communicated with the satellite, roughly 1200 miles off the coast of australia. This is the area now where we think the prospect of locating the aircraft is highest. Reporter its been more than three months since the plane disappeared with 239 people on board. For seven weeks the search centered on pings under the surface of the water that investigators believe came from the black boxes. An effort now largely seen as a distraction. Now the search effort will focus on a massive 23,000 square mile area of the indian ocean that has largely been unmapped. Can i emphasize again that this search is a major undertaking. This site is the best available and most likely place where the aircraft is resting. Reporter new information today, but the search is still more than a month away from resuming. Between now and then independent contractors will be hired with sonar equipment that will be able to search deeper below the surface of the ocean. In iraq overnight sunni muslim militants captured a town that is home to several large natural gas fields. A number of Foreign Companies operate there. Meanwhile syria is reportedly attacking those sunni forces. Charlie dagata is in baghdad with the threat of a wider war. Charlie, good morning. Reporter good morning. Today iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki confirmed what many had long suspected, that syrian warplanes struck militant targets on the border with iraq on the syrian side. He said he had not requested those air strikes, but he welcomed them all the same. In the iraqi border town of al qaim, the aftermath of air strikes not launched by the u. S. Or iran, but neighboring syria. Isis militants have seized a number of border crossings, allowing them to shift weapons an fighters into iraq. They continue to push for more territory in the north and west of the country. One of the biggest battles is being waged over the countrys largest oil refinery. Iraqi forces claim to have taken back control of the baiji refinery but thats disputed by the militants. North of the capital baghdad, after two weeks of humiliating and has treety retreats iraqi forces were on the move toward the front line city of samarra, with tanks, heavy weapons and rallying speeches. While sunni fighters have strengthened their grip in the west and the north, it appears the Iraqi Military is stepping up too. Three Iraqi Air Force helicopters landed in tikrit. Jan crawford is at the court with a look at this ruling that just came out minutes ago. Jan, good morning. So how has the Court Limited the president s power . Reporter norah, this really does kale back president obamas power to put people on federal agencies nominate federal officials and going around congress to do so. It limits his power to nominate those people of his choosing when congress is in recess which he had been doing. President s tend to do that. The courts say obama pushed it too far so this will scale back his power visavis congress. An important statement on the power of the white house versus congress and all the branches of government norah. Jan, what other important cases may be coming down . Reporter theyre on the bench still right now so we dont know what else theyll be handing down today. There are three big cases were still waiting on. A big one is another challenge to the president S Health Care reform law. Remember the court two years ago upheld a key portion of that law. This is a more narrow question about whether or not the law can force employers to provide insurance that includes free contraceptives to all their employees. A couple is challenging this. They own a chain of arts and crafts stores, saying it violates their religious beliefs because they would have to provide drugs like the morningafter pill. They said that violates their religious beliefs which included opposition to an abortion. As well as on another abortion case, the courts got a challenge to a buffer zone. Government in massachusetts and states across the country have created zones around abortion clinics to protect women who are speaking to get abortions. Protesters say that violates their free speech rights. Thats another big First Amendment case. We could get it today. But they may wait until monday the last day of the month. A georgia father is in jail this morning charged with murdering his young son. The weapon, hot weather. A medical examiner said the toddler, Cooper Harris was left alone in an suv for seven hours. Temperatures that day soared into the 90s, but Mark Strassmann shows us why Justin Ross Harris is getting public support. Mark is at the county jail in marietta. Good morning. Reporter good morning. Justin ross harris is behind bars here held without bond. Police do not buy his story that he parked his suv and simply forgot that his 22monthold son was still strapped inside on a broiling atlanta day. Cobb county police do not believe Justin Ross Harris left his 22monthold son, cooper to die in the familys suv by mistake. A new Police Warrant says last thursday morning harris and his son ate breakfast at a chickfila. He strapped cooper into a rearfacing car seat and made the threeminute drive to his office at home depot. Harris went inside and left the boy inside the closed suv instead of taking him to his regular day care. Investigators say harris returned to his suv at lunch, opened the drivers side door and put something inside. The boy was also still inside. Then harris went back to work. Harris told police he was driving home when he noticed that his son was still strapped into his car seat. He pulled into this parking lot, pulled the boy out of the car and tried unsuccessfully to revive him. Witnesses say he cried several times what have i done. By the time police got here the little boy was dead. And i seen the babys body on the ground right there. It was lifeless. Reporter ralph micken a pizza cook heard the suv screech to a halt. Harris needed help. There was a guy right there trying to give the baby cpr, mouth to mouth. And the father was pacing around hysterically just saying why me you know what happened what did i do. Do you plead not guilty at this time . Reporter the 34yearold harris has pleaded not guilty to murder. A video produced by harris supporters calls the boys death a terrible accident nothing more. Hes a wonderful father who would trade places with his son in a second. Reporter more than 10,000 supporters have signed an online petition to free harris immediately. Police insist the evidence points to murder. A coroner has ruled that the boy died from hyperthermia thats when the bodys temperature spikes and stays well above its normal range. The boy will be laid to rest this saturday and, norah, his father will not be aroullowed to attend. Thank you. Dozens of young concert goers in boston are recovering this morning after being treated for intoxication. They were attending an electronic dance music show featuring the deejay avicii. Reporter it was a scary scene in boston last night. Ambulances and emergency crews were called to assist concert goers in medical distress. Live nation entertainment told cbs news most of the ambulance transports were for people outside the venue who were too impaired to get in. The td garden was packed for a steamy electronic dance concert featuring the Grammy Nominated deejay avicii but the performance was maurd whenrred when more than 50 concert goers, many of them minors showed signs of drug and alcohol abuse. It was crazy. Reporter emts carried some of them out on stretchers. Ambulances rushed to the scene to transport more than 30 people to boston area hospitals. Emergency crews lined the streets by the td garden. Crews instructed people to quickly leave the area. There was one kid, it took four cops to get him down. He was on something, i have no idea. But he was just trying to fight back. It took four of them to take him down. What was wrong with him . I think he was drunk. It might be molly. You never know. Reporter molly, a potent form of ecstacy and alcohol are commonly used by concert goers, but according to officials, it was unclear if molly was a contributing factor to the incident. In addition to alcohol and drug use, witnesses say overheateding contributed to the incident. After the show avicii tweeted out its a terrible thing. I really hope everyone is okay. Police are searching foyer a person who shot and wounded a man outside a San Francisco tj maxx store in soma. It happened last night at 4th and harrison streets. The victim is expected to survive. San Francisco Police have arrested a man they say has been setting fires all over the city. They believe this is the same man responsible for setting more than a dozen fires most of them set in dumpsters and construction sites. Fortunately, nobody has been hurt. Right now the southbound lanes of the freeway are completely blocked. This dump truck flipped over the Center Divide. You can see it laying there on its side on the freeway. Theres also a fuel spill associated with this. The southbound traffic is blocked completely. So obviously, avoid the area jammed solid already into concord. Northbound traffic two lanes are blocked but it is really slow already from the walnut creek interchange. So injuries were reported. We are told the driver was conscious but you can see that the delays are northbound and southbound. It is a mess. Use surface streets or bart would be a much better option. So maybe its too late for our children but its not too late for other americans. Reporter charlie and jane wang had just one son under chinas onechild policy. The family came to america to give david a better education. He was Close Friends with james hong and george chen. They wanted to be computer engineers, but were the first victims killed in the campus rampage. Your sons were all Beautiful People with great minds and kind hearts. Reporter george chens mom, kelly, treasures a letter written by the boys college classmates. They loved and were loved. And will forever be remembered as the magnificent men you raised them to be. What does it mean to you to read those words that somebody wrote about your son . Its very heartwarming and we are very proud. That is exactly the young man we want to raise our son to be. Reporter these parents feel the only way to stop the series of mass killings that have plagued this country is for families to be more involved in their kids lives and to better monitor their Mental Health. Do you think this could have been prevented . Yes. There were several opportunities missed. Reporter they feel the family of alleged killer elliot rodger, did not do enough to help him and they are outraged by Media Attention focused on the killer in an upcoming interview with his father pete rodger. Rodger met with Richard Martinez whose son was also a victim. Have the parents of the killer personally reached out to you this any way . No. No. Does that bother you . Definitely. What would you like to hear from them . We want to had hear from personal apologize. Thats the minimum they should do. Reporter after we reached out to peter rodger for comment, Late Wednesday he sent the families an apology. The loss of our sons are unbearable. As parents, i could give away my own life in exchange my sons life. In our heart, many times we still picture his coming back home. Everybodys trying to heal after this whole thing but i also think, too, just like the victims at sandy hook they want somebody to do something. They want some recognition by government that Mental Health issues and people who have Mental Health issues should not be able to get guns. And theyre not done. Theyre not done speaking out. A new jersey woman is suing for discrimination this morning. She claims that a former employer refused to change her schedule to help had her avoid rush hour traffic. The lawsuit says she was diagnosed with depression and anxiety aggravated by gridlock. She wanted to come in after the morning rush and leave before the roads jammed up in the evening. The Company Allegedly said no and fired the woman in retaliation. Cbs news legal analyst Rikki Kleiman is with us. Good morning. Good morning. Does she have a case . Indeed she does. At first blush the press headline is clearly frivolous lawsuit. Everybody gets aggravated in traffic. We all have anxiety in traffic. But, its hes not that simple. When we have the americans with disabilities act, and in this case new jersey has a similar act, as most states would do what anxiety is is a recognized disability. This was a woman who said and went to a doctor that she had chronic anxiety and depression. Its documented. It was aggravated by her commute. So heres where the employer makes a mistake. They recognize the disability they accommodate the disability just for a little while, then they say, well nope. Then they allow her to take a medical leave under the federal medical leave act, which says you can take 12 weeks. She takes the 12 weeks. She comes back. She gets demoted. She gets demoted, and then she goes to file an ethics complaint with the company. All the systems they set up to deal with these issues. And then they fire here. But rikki, why couldnt it be maybe this is not the job for her, or why couldnt she come in before the morning rush hour as opposed to after . Couldnt they work out something that they still get work out of this employee . Now she has a very short work day. Well, she does have a short work day, by her request. But what happens is an employer has an obligation to make a reasonable accommodation. They could have talked with her. They could have come up with something. Perhaps she did come in earlier or she did leave later. The problem is they didnt accommodate. And thats their only obligation. Once you do this, it is like the old buyer beware. In a company, especially a company like this this is a 16 billion company. Big, big company. Lots of resources. No undue hardship to accommodate. Youve got to follow the rules of the law. So a lawsuit which looks frivolous like this just wait a minute. Because we may see many more lawsuits like this. Thats the important point. A warning tole Many Employers on that.
