They took us to another location and a man came up with a huge thing of tape and these rags and began tying the rags around us very tightly so we were unable to see anything. We were taken in a vehicle to another location. There we were sort of shouted at and berated by this woman. He had to stand against a wall with our hands up like this while they confiscated all of our belongings took the earrings out of our ears and one of our men was beaten and our producer where we were being held, i believe we were being filmed they were asking us do you have any family any children, who are your family . These are horrible questions to hear because it makes you fear the worst. Some people were talking about possibly having us be held as hostages but other commanders came in and decided that wasnt a good idea. Shortly after that our blindfolds were removed and we were all released. Charlie . Clarissa this may be an obvious question but youve been through a nightmare. When you were being blindfolded, what were you thinking . Youre thinking just to stay calm. There was a ukrainian girl being held with us too. She was shaking like a leaf. She had her hands on my shoulders and she was shaking and shaking and crying. I was trying to calm her down quite a lot. Weve had a lot of training for these types of experiences in the past you hope you never find yourself in one, but when you do fortunately the training does kick in and you just do exactly what youre told no matter what youre told to do you do it and you keep quiet, you shut up and you just try to stay calm and wait for the situation to resolve itself. Now to the controversy over Donald Sterling. Leon jenkins resigned last night after facing backlash. He chose sterling to receive a Lifetime Achievement award this month. Com reported that disgraced clippers owner Donald Sterling is battling cancer. The news came as a surprise to clippers coach doc rivers. Didnt know it until just now. I dont have a reaction to that. The team still needs to win one more game in order to move on to the second round of the nba playoff series, a position its reached only twice in the past 30 years. After a tumultuous week off the court, focusing on winning games is far more of a familiar challenge to the teams players and coach. The league is focused on the next steps in the saga of Donald Sterling, who this week was banned from the sport for life. On thursday a committee representing ten team owners met for the first time to discuss options for ending sterlings ownership. The nba was short on specifics saying in a statement, quote, the committee unanimously agreed to move forward as expeditiously as possible and will reconvene next week. But legal experts warn thats just the beginning. Usc law professor Michael Chasalow expects sterling will go to court to fight any effort to take away his team. He says that battle could take months or even years, especially since the team isnt technically owned by sterling alone. My understanding is its held in a family trust. He might try to transfer the team to the family trust and say im not the owner anymore, my family is. Reporter sterling has been largely silent about his intentions, so far telling only one reporter the team is not for sale. Carter evans, los angeles. A cbs News New York times poll out shows about half americans feel the sanctions are just about right. A minnesota teen is in custody this morning after police said he plotted to kill his family and carry out a school massacre. The 17yearold suspect is from waseca, about 80 miles south of minneapolis was charged in court yesterday. Investigators say he had a stunning number of bombs and weapons. Once there, he intended to set off numerous bombs during the lunch hour kill the School Resource officer as he responded to help set fires and shoot students and staff. Authorities say the teen idolized the Columbine High School killers. Parts of the east coast need more time to dry out after heavy rain and flooding. It rained again overnight in pensacola, florida. That region got nearly two feet of rain. Vinita nair is there where streets are still covered with water. Reporter after nearly half a foot of rain the flooding here in manville has gotten a lot better, but a lot of the roads are still closed and the rivers are still very swollen. We are told the president was shocked to discover the private Companies Use the same Data Collection techniques to discover future Consumer Buying Habits as the government does when it tries to develop leads in counterterrorism cases. This report also found the potential for discrimination against individuals based on the professional files that emerge from studies of their computer buying and computer browsing habits. This task force recommended several changes, one of them a new law that outlines Consumer Protection on collection and storage of their private data requirements for companies to report large data breaches and antidiscrimination protections to guard against the socalled data profiling. Now, largely Silicon Valley was silent yesterday refusing to comment, but in meetings here at the white house, many of these private tech firms have first sought to protect their bottom of line from the perception that theyre working with the government on surveillance. Parents, so frustrated with what they say is a lack of Government Action that theyve mounted their own search and rescue operations in the dense forest there, but its extremely difficult to get reliable information. Even the local officials ive spoken to are too scared to go there. This is what we do know well over 200 girls with kidnapped in the dead of night by heavily armed gunmen on the 14th of april. They were taken from the boarding school in chibock, which was burned to the ground. The girls are between 15 and 18 years old. The identity of the attackers have not been definitively established. But its believed theyre members of an extreme islamist militant organization. The frantic parents of these young girls have taken to the streets in protest, accusing the Nigerian Military with providing them with no assistance. These demonstrations have spread out across the country, including the capital. We are so frustrated at the fact that 234 children who get missing and theres absolutely no coherent explanation as to exactly the search and rescue operation thats going on on finding them. Reporter as nigerians vent their frustration on the streets of nigeria the issue was discussed with a senior delegation last night. Chillingly, these abductions may not be the worst part of the story. Now unconfirmed reports say the girls have been taken across the borders and sold into marriage with local militants. Thank you. Its a culture. Activists have said to the government enough is enough. Youve got to look in here and you have a tool. The department of education gives federal funding. You have a tool to make colleges accountable. And these are prestigious institutions. Theyre prestigious, they are large, they are small. The question may be in the transparency of finally giving forth this list of the 55 because no one knows who these colleges are, usually we find out about them after a Sexual Assault claim has been resolved. But whats happened now is that maybe you think if you want to send your kids to school well this is not a good place. Its still a presumption of innocence. These are just looking to see if these schools are in compliance. This is unprecedented. It will be interesting to see as the Justice Department pursues perhaps charges against universities. Bp makes it sound like youre throwing millions of dollars away to people who have no stake in the oil spill whatsoever. I have an obligation as a courtappointed official by the federal court to implement what these two parties wrote. Tune in sunday to hear from the lawyers who made the deal with bp. They tell 60 minutes, according to that deal a company does not have to have suffered from the oil spill to qualify for a check from bp. And new controversy this morning over small drones as the Unmanned Aircraft tests the bounds of technology. Theyre also pushing the limits of the law. Youll be seeing more and more of these drones in all shapes and sizes. This is small, has a camera on the front and can go a thousand feet in the air. Anyone can buy and operate one of these but its illegal to make money using one of these and thats leading to frustration from Business Users big and small. Timothys drone business is taking off. I wanted to make seeing the world from the sky accessible to everyone. Reporter he quit his fulltime job to do that and created this pocket drone. It sells for 500 in an industry growing rapidly. Hes already sold a Million Dollars worth in four months. Now, the consumer drone market is going to be close to a billion dollars, if not more but the overall drone market is going to be tens of billions of dollars. Reporter businesses are using drones to position themselves for the future. Amazon is testing delivery drones. Farmers are using them to keep track of their cattle and some Production Companies are putting cameras on them to film commercials. Drones have become an inexpensive and accessible way to help run your business but the market is limited because the federal Aviation Administration bans the use of drones for commercial purposes and that may not change until the end of next year. Reuters says that wont be soon enough for fledgling Drone Companies like his. Theyre very frustrated because they want to create livelihoods, generate tax revenue and their hands are completely tied by the regulations. Reporter when it comes to the use of drones there are several issues including safety and privacy. Regulators have been trying to rein in the use of drone aircraft and orders to stop operation. This week in arkansas a reporter used a drone to capture this video of storm damage. The faa called the station and warned against further drone use. The faa is not dragging its feet but its being deliberate. James is the former secretary of transportation. The biggest right now is how to make sure that the aviation space remains safe. Reporter was this something that caught the faa off guard, if you will how fast the technology has evolved . That movement in the marketplace is something very few people anticipated. Its hard to fault the faa by being a little surprised by that. Were all pretty surprised. Reporter the uncertainty is causing tension for businesses who see an opportunity for growth. Clarissa ward and others were stopped at a checkpoint after new fighting broke out this morning. They were set free after a few hours. Clarissa ward is in donetsk. Clarissa clarissa, were glad to see you. Take our viewers through what happened this morning. Reporter good morning, norah. We were driving to the nearby city of slavyansk to take a look at an alleged antiterror operation that the youUkrainian Military has launched there. We were stopped at a prorussian separatist checkpoint a completely standard checkpoint. Our crews have been going through every day. When they heard we were with cbs and deduced we were americans, they became irate. There was a sky news crew who who had been stopped at the same checkpoint and they told us that they had to talk to their superiors and they would either be allowed to let us go or they would take us prisoner. Unfortunately, they went for the latter option. They took us to another area where we were blindfolded. We had sort of a cloth around our eyes and then they bound tape around and around our heads, so it was impossible to see anything. And we with were loaded onto this van and driven to another location about an hour away. And thats where things sort of got a little more tense, i would say, as we came off the van. A woman was shouting at us telling us to shut up, are not to speak. We had to stand against the wall with our hands like this while all of our belongings were stripped from us and taken from us. Nobody was really explaining to us exactly why we were being held or what we had done wrong. The women, myself and producer erin lyle, were taken to one area. The men to another. One of our crew was beaten. And then after about an hour and a half one loses track of time with these events a little bit because it feels so long in the moment, but we were then told that we could take off our blind folds. They sort of ripped them off and then they allowed us to go. But the whole experience definitely leaving everyone thankfully in good health but a little shaken up. I know, claesrissa, it sounds terrifying and you tell it so calmly. We are so glad you are all right. There are many foreign crews there. Why do you suppose you were targeted, just because cbs, americans . So its no surprise that Industry Leaders decided they needed some representation in washington. Can canvass capitol hill on any day and youll run into thousands of lobbyists but Michael Correia is one of a kind. Hi there. Reporter he is the first fulltime lobbyist for the growing marijuana industry. Financial institutions will not give Financial Services to the cannabis industry. Reporter you dont look like a pot guy, per se. Well its because im not. I am just a capitol hill vet like most capitol hill people. Reporter correia, who is 44 has worked as a republican staffer and lobbyist for more than 15 years. He was hired by the National Cannabis Industry Association five months ago. What do your friends think . The first thing everyone says is congratulations. The second thing everyone says is do you have any samples . Reporter he spends his days urging members and their staffers to change the law that prohibits banks from lending to marijuana vendors. That forces vendors to deal main mainly in tax that can be risky. They cant reinvest in their own companies. Thats more than 100,000 lives a year. Our nardr. Tara narula is the cardiologist at Lenox Hill Hospital here in good old new york city. I was so fascinated by this. I think its a great wakeup call for people who do something before something really frightening happens. When you say preventible, five different illnesses. What are you talking about . Thats right. Were talking about Heart Disease, cancer, chronic lung disease, stroke, and injuries. Those are the top five. And were talking about one in three cardiovascular events. Were talking about one in five cancer deaths. These are big numbers. How do we prevent it . Thats what im focusing on. We have to look at whats playing into this. And so when you look across the top five, tobacco keeps coming up again and again, as a reversible risk factor. Obesity as well. We think of it as related to Heart Disease and stroke but it plays into cancer, too. And simple interventions like wearing a seat belt a helmet when on a bike. Theres a lot we can do to turn these numbers around. The head of the cdc says when it comes to your health your zip code is more important than your genetic code. Really . It sounds kind of crazy, right . No. It plays into it. When you look across the states, theres a lot of variability. The southeast is the stroke belt. Probably because of factors like higher rates of obesity, lack of exercise. When you think why this might be you have to look at different things. Not only genetics but what is the access to medical care in the different states. How good is the medical care . What are the Health Strategies . Whats the social climate . So is it the norm to go out and exercise and be act ifive or the norm to be home and drinking beer and eating fried food . A lot of this plays into what happens to you and economics as well. Can you afford to eat healthy. We ate a lot of fried food where i grew up. It seems to me we always come down to this dont smoke, get some exercise eat well and avoid stress. Right. Definite definitely. And those are the big ones. But i think ultimately what we need to do is have a collaborative effort. The doctor patient is important. We need to have the public and private sector work together. You bring in Weight Watchers to the employees for lunch. That kind of strategy. Getting into our schools where were teaching children before the habits start not to smoke. Somebody sitting at home watching you smoking going, yeah, yeah yeah i know all this. Last year the number of frequent moviegoers in the crucial 18 to 24yearold age group plummeted 17 . Among those, admissions were down almost 13 . Chris dodd is head of the Motion Picture association of america. I mean what is the biggest challenge . Look. Im competing iffer yo your time. Youve got a lot of options today as a consumer as to how you and your family want to spend your time. Reporter those options include more ways to watch movies outside theaters with Services Like netflix and amazon prime and technology that can play context straight from mobile devices to giant flat screen tvs. Some studio owners say its time to coordinate cut down the time movies are exclusively in theaters from its current average of four months to just three weekends and then charge people to see them at home perhaps based on the size of the screen. But theater owners have resisted closing the window that movies are in the theater. Movies that are designed for the big screen need to be seen on the big screen first. There are two things that drive people to the cinema. I mean one is the content. Movies have to be good. The other is the experience. To keep drawing people to the theaters, that experience is whats changing the most from technology with digital film to comfort like new seating and high end food and drinks. One of the most surprising features that has worked to drive attendance dramatically is to simply remove all the seats and put in really big comfortable chairs. Perhaps the boldest move is the proposal that will cost less, a nationwide diskounlt movie night probably on tuesday or wednesday at all the major cinemas. The idea is to offer a lower ticket price at a fairly unused time of the week to get people out to the cinema who might not be able to go on the weekend. Im walking to the bedroom, and all of a sudden i get hit. Really really hard. And everything went black. Gregs in bed. And i see blood running down his nose. Whats going on . Somebody was in the house. Reporter greg was dead. Who shot greg . I have my assumptions. When shes talking, shes usually lying. And im her sister. Reporter police believed michelle was of the killer, but they didnt have enough evidence to bring her to trial. So they started talking about a plea deal. But with before it was finalized, an interview with 48 hours would end up turning the case upsidedown. Do you feel as though you were being pressured to change your story . I totally was. I was completely coerced into it. Did you kill your husband . Wow, Peter Van Sant joins us. Pretty bad when your own sister says shes a liar. And her two sons and exhusbands. It goes on and on. So the interview, the 48 hours interview turned things upsidedown. What happened . She told authorities that an intruder had murdered her husband and attacked her. Then she said her husband committed suicide. During the course of our interview, this was a jaw dropper for me she changes her story again and says its an intruder. So a plea deal is thrown out. She goes to trial this september. And what do you do, peter, when someone changes their story right before your eyes so drastically . Well, i just bored in on her. Youll see in the course of this hour i got to play prosecutor without the rules of the court, and really go after her on the facts of the case. All right. Looking forward to that. Thank you.
