To take security precautions overseas. More than a dozen american embassies and consulates are being order to close this sunday. David martin is tracking developments from the pentagon. Intelligence has pick up signs of an al qaeda plot and that has prompted the state department to close all its diplomatic posts in the middle east, north africa and south asia. The intelligence does not mention a specific location so all embassies and consulates that would normally be open on sunday have been ordered to close. Sunday is the start of the workweek in the muslim world. The state Department Released a statement, telling cbs news we have taken this measure out of an abundance of caution and care for our epemployees. It went on to explain, the department, when conditions warrant, take steps like this to balance our continued operations with security and safety. Embassies have started announcing the closings on their website. Israel, egypt, jordan qatar, saudi arabia, afghanistan, bangladesh and sudan. Officials say this appears to be a real plot in the making and not just the normal chatter among terrorists talking about plots they would like to carry out. The fact that so many posts are being closed reflects one, the vagueness of the intelligence and, two, the bitter memories of the four americans who were killed in that attack on the benghazi compound on september 11th last year. Now russia has ignored direct pleas from president obama and the famous reset in the famous relations have been jeopardized. Lawmakers now urging a forceful white house response. Mr. Obama did not want to personalize his sense of anger and disappointment leaving that to his spokesman. We see this as an unfortunate development and we are extremely disappointed by it. Prime minister sharif had earlier appealed to him to halt the program but these comments went further than president obama who said the Drone Program would not end entirely. Hours later, the state department issued a statement, saying there is no time line for a halt and indicated the comments were the sectretarys hope, not a change in policy. Twothirds of those jobs created were really not great jobs. Theyre part time jobs. So im concerned about that piece of it. Wages down just a touch. So i think this is an interesting report in one sense. Even though weve added 1. 34 million jobs this year i think it puts the Federal Reserve in an interesting situation. We thought they were going to change their policy. This is kind a weak report. Maybe they wait till september. You think it delays any Big Decisions from the fed . It could. The fed has two different policies it is pursuing. The longterm Interest Rate policy. A lot of people thought theyd ease up on those bond purchases in september. Maybe they will wait till december. Who knows. The short term which is pegged to the Unemployment Rate well maybe that will start to change. We have to get to about 6 1 2 on the Unemployment Rate before the fed said it would actually start to increase those shortterm rates. If we keep it this rate jill, i mean thats 6. 5 target, how long does it take us to get there . A long time. Were probably not getting there till december 2014. Which is probably why the fed said were probably not going to change shortterm rates till the middle of 2014. So time will tell. What does it say at this point . That they are fine with the staffs they have and theyre not seeking to build out payrolls till the economy starts to improve more substantially. That is nothing to really celebrate at this point. How long does it take i mean, what is it going to take for them to start doing this . Theyll have to see more demand for their goods and services. If youre an employer you have to wait to see if people want your stuff. Thats the leelreal job of the employer to try to gauge that. For the first typeime, the cruise industry voluntarily releasing information about crime on ships. They say 237 alleged serious crimes took place on norwegian, Royal Caribbean and carnival cruises. Congress pressured the companies to reveal the numbers. All right, they did this because congress has been pressuring them to do it. Do we bleachelieve the numbers . The numbers are a little higher than you might suspect. 237 reported alleged crimes. They range from homicide assault, rape, sexual assault, missing u. S. Nationals and theft greater than 10,000. So while the numbers seem to be a little bit higher the problem of course is all those things are reported not necessarily by individuals or the u. S. Cruise lines s lines. The question is how are those statistics actually reported. Youre talking about 237 crimes but this isnt, in fact everything, is it . The smaller crimes arent on this les. Thats right. Even though its a good first step. Think about this. Alleged theft of over 10,000. What about missing ipads watches, jewelry . The other problem is how is it broken out . These are cruise lines reporting these themselves but not by individual ships. Or not even by dates of the reported occurrence. Its very difficult to interpret these statistics in a meaningful way. One of the concerns peep ss people have is these cruise ships, with the number of its bigger than some towns, and yet theres no police on board. The only Police Presence on board most ships are a Security Officer employed by the ship themselves it themselves. If you have a small town, which is what these cruise ships approximate in terps of the terms of the numbers, you have a Police Department and Crime Statistics reported on a regular basis. What this is a good first step. As senator rockefeller wants, he wants legislation that will provide a Police Presence on board ships and will break out these crime statistic, among all the cruise lines. The title comes from a dream that the director David Gordon Green had in which he thought of the words prince avalanche and woke up and thought, that would be a really cool title for a movie. So we begin. He had a location for it because there is a park in bass drop, texas, just outside of austin, that really was ravaged by fire. It was a really interesting environment. So he went there, saw it and thought, this is really amazinglooking. It would be cool to have a movie here. Then, he thought of the title. We just didnt know what the movie was. That came later. What is the movie about for people who havent seen it . Well its emile hirsch and i play two guys that are painting lines on the road as exciting as that sounds. Very exciting job. Its a remake of an icelandic film called either way which was only made a few years ago. It is a very small film. It is great. When david was thinking of what the movie would be somebody turned him on to this and he watched it. Lets remake that. Lets put our own spin on it. From anchorman to after vavalanche we all laughed out loud. You were coming back at brian santana. It was a blast. It was surreal just to see those guys in their costumes again and to be in that costume. This is whats so funny about the anchorman. As a goofy nerd he said i have a natural aversion to cute funny guys. I didnt meet him until he showed up at the audition overweight and wearing an ugly 70s suit. Thats when he stole my heart forever. I am wondering about your thinking when you went in to do that, paul. Thats the way i normally look. You cleaned yourself up today. I just got a hair cut. I was blown away by that. I think that he was you were introducing all of the scholarship students. They talked about journalists they admired and wanted to emulate. He said brian santana. I worry if he blurred the lines between hollywood and real life. There are no people in this business that i have met that are like brian vantana. We normally think of you in those big budget comedy movies. This really was a change of pace for you. You are wearing these terrible shorts and thats terrible white socks. So the look wasnt so good. The character itself i think it gave people an opportunity to see you differently. I mean that seriously. One of the reasons i wanted to do it besides the fact that david is a friend of mine and a great director and somebody i have always wanted to work with was that it really did have an independent spirit behind it. We were able to go out into the woods and kind of do what we wanted not ever even knowing if anyone would ever see it. It was a bit of a not so much a rebellion against a studio system but it was the an it is is he this is of it. You are married with two kids.
