Nine people were arrested and charged with felony riot. [ gunshot ] in portland, police used flash grenades to break up a protest they said had become a riot. More than two dozen people were arrested. Several businesses suffered damage. Tens of thousands protested across the country. This afternoon President Trump is scheduled to speak by phone with russian president Vladimir Putin. Last month mr. Trump said u. S. Russia relations may be at an all time low. During the campaign mr. Trump praised putin, one of several authoritarian leaders he had good things to say about comments that drawn sharp criticism. Reporter topics on the agenda of President Trumps scheduled call with the russian leader will include the war in syria and missile testing in north korea. The president is also taking heat for saying in an interview yesterday he would be honored to meet north Korean Leader kim jongun. Trump is due to speak with Vladimir Putin later today.
