Reporter the popes historic trip to the u. S. U. S. Is capturing the attention of hundreds of thousands, both old and young. Despite rain, thousands of young people welcomed pope francis like a rock star. Some climbed trees to get a better look. He spoke off the cuff at an event for cubas youth. This 17yearold rodriguez was there. What did you think of the popes speech . I loved it, she said. It blew me away. I felt like it was my mom or dad speaking to me. It was the popes last public stop on his first full day in cuba. He shook hands and kissed babies before the mass attended by thousands. Later, 89yearold fidel castro hosted francis at his residence. Fiorina said the debate where she went headtohead with trump was an important moment in her campaign. As people come to know me and understand what ive done and most importantly, what i will do, they tend to support me. Reporter while fiorina jumped in the polls, critics are jumping on trump and ben carson for comments they made about muslims and the presidency. On the sunday talk shows, trump stood by his decision not to correct a supporter who said president obama is a muslim during a town hall meeting last week. We have a problem in this country. Its called muslims. We know our current president is one. Reporter trump said its not his obligation to defend the president. We can be politically correct and we can say there is no problem whatsoever, but the fact is there is a problem with some and its a very severe problem and its a problem thats taking place all over the world. He is fueling a level of paranoia and prejudice against all kinds of people. And when you light those fires, you better recognize that they can get out of control. I would not advocate that we put a muslim in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with that. Reporter the first practicing muslim elected to congress, minnesota democrat Keith Ellison said its unimaginable the leading gop president ial candidates are engaging in and tolerating blatant acts of religious bigotry. After carson made those comments, his campaign released a statement that said there are complex differences between the practice of the muslim faith and our constitution, differences that are very real and very much in conflict with one another. Two massive wildfires in Northern California have now destroyed nearly 1,600 homes and this morning, a third fire in Monterey County has destroyed ten others. The fire has destroyed ove a thousand acres and is 30 contained and its one of ten active wildfires that threatens thousands of homes. So dry. So hot. Now we are getting some wind. The fire has given us a tough time and its pretty hard to control. Two massive fires burning north of Monterey County are blamed for at least five deaths. The valley fire, which destroyed over a thousand homes, is now the fourth worst in california history. Two americans held hostage by Houthi Rebels in yemen have been freed and in the gulf state of oman this morning. They were two of six released by the rebels. A third american is still being held. The houthi backed by iran are involved in a ferocious civil war and u. S. Forces bombed them in march.
