Well, critics of the just agreed to framework of a deal to limit Irans Nuclear program says it doesnt go far enough. Six world powers including the United States and iran agreed to the breakthrough deal following months of negotiations. The goal now is to have a comprehensive agreement by june 30th. President obama says if implemented, the deal will make the world a safer place. If iran cheats, the world will know it. If we see something suspicious, we will inspect it. Irans past efforts to weaponize this program will be addressed. With this deal iran will face more inspections than any other country in the world. But israeli Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu says the deal threatens israels survival. He tweeted any deal must significantly roll back Irans Nuclear capabilities and stop its terrorism and aggression. Mark albert is in washington with the details. Mark, good morning. Good morning, annemarie. It was a true allnighter. U. S. Secretary of state john kerry and his iranian counter part haggled all through the night on the deal and made the announcement. President obama signed off and they called world leaders. United states together with our allies and partners has reached an historic understanding with iran. Reporter after hours of framing a deal to keep iran from nuclear weapons, president obama began to try to sell its plan to the skeptical ally israel. The president called Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu from air force one. Netanyahu filed off tweets. If hes looking for the most effective way to ensure iran doesnt get a nuclear weapon, this is the best option. Reporter the framework calls for iran to decrease its number of working Uranium Nuclear centrifuges. Their stockpiles would be neutralized. It opens them to u. N. Inspections. In return crippling economic sanctions would be lifted after iran is compliant. We now have guaranteed access. If they dont provide it, the sanctions come back. Reporter the president also called leaders of both parties to try to keep them from passing new sanctions or from demanding congressional approval of the deal. Republican senator tom cotton of arkansas remains skeptical. The only acceptable deal would be Irans Nuclear disarmament. Reporter the president will begin briefing white house leaders next week. The bill is getting bipartisan acceptance in the senate. It would require congressional review of any final deal, which could still collapse the next three months as all the final Technical Details are filled in. Annemarie . Powerful thunderstorms, large hail, damaging winds, and tornados are all a possibility. Tornado watches are posted in arkansas and missouri. And late last night at least one tornado touched down in northeast oklahoma. Some damage is reported, but so far no injuries. Others were reported in kansas and missouri. Two new york women are being held without bail for allegedly plotting a boston marathontype terrorist attack in the u. S. The two women plemged their allegiance to the terrorist group. The lawyer for one of the women says she will plead not guilty. Marlie hall reports. Reporter federal prosecutors say 28yearold know well velentzas and 31yearold Asia Siddiqui planned to make bombs in the United States. They had instructions on how to turn things into bombs. Velentzas talked about targeting cops and the military. This was a conspiracy that was undercut before it could turn into something dangerous. Reporter prosecutors say the women used the internet to irreparable car bombs like the one using during the 1993 attack at the world trade center, fertilizer bombs like the one used in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, and Pressure Cooker bombs like those used in the 2013 marathon attacks. They praised the attack worshipped osama bin laden, and admitted they were citizens of the islamic state. Investigators say the women wanted to make history. Siddiquis lawyer says his climate will plead not guilty. I know its a serious case, but were going to fight it out in court. Reporter velentzass attorney had no comment. If convicted they will spend life in prison. Marlie hall, cbs news, brooklyn. This morning were hearing more details about jets deadly attack at a university in kenya. The somalia based Extremist Group al shabaab says its behind the attack. Four masked gunmen killed 147 people singled out single Christian Women at a college. They battled police for 13 hours. Deborah patta reports. Reporter students were jolted away by the sound of gunfire as the gunmen shot their way past the universitys main gate and stormed the dormitories. They tried indiscriminately at first before beginning a deadly march from room to room demanding to know if those inside were muslim or christian. Some christians were shot on the spot. Terrified students tried to escape. We are hearing and seeing the gunshots, but were not seeing the people themselves that are shooting at us. Reporter some students were taken hostage, but it is unclear how many. And many remain unaccounted for, possibly trapped inside college buildings. At least 65 were rushed to the hospital, mostly with gunshot wounds. The somalibased group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The school is only 90 miles from the somali border. Al shabaabs extremists have struck kenya before. One of the worst attacks was in 2013 when militants rampaged through the upscale westgate shopping mall. Trapped shoppers were asked to recite verses from the koran. Anyone who couldnt was executed. The attack left 67 dead. Tonight the kenyan government named this man as the mastermind of the university attack. It placed the bounty of 217,000 on him. Garissa university did send letters to the students warning of a possible attack, but it appears no additional security measures were taken. And although students were told they could go home campus life continued as normal. Debora patta, cbs news, south africa. Theres now apparent evidence that the hijacking by its copilot was premeditated. Also the jets flight data recorder has been recovered. Prosecutors say Andreas Lubitz spent time online researching suicide methods and cockpit door security. Investigators say he locked the capital out of the cockpit and then flew the jet into a mountain. Last months crash killed all 150 people on board. Arkansas and indiana have new religious freedom law this morning after lawmakers passed revised bills. Governors in both states are applauding the measures and hope theyve put an end to the uproar. Adriana diaz reports. Reporter arkansas governor hutchinson signed his freedom bill thursday, the second attempt. A first draft was sent back after businesses like walmart and protesters including the governors son said it could have allowed discrimination against gays. I think whats happened in the last few days is the best of our country, the best of our democracy we were able do this working together sometimes with some tension, but that tension produces a good result. Reporter indianas lawmakers spent the day writing their bill which faced similar if not louder protests. After signing the amendment, governor mike pence tweeted there will be some who think it went too far, some who think it didnt go far enough. Some of the people sharing that same sentiment are in the lgbt community. They say gays need more protection from discrimination. He faces a weapons charge for a gun that was found when he was arrested for a murder. Hes confessed to that killing and two others in an hbo documentary. Erin moriarty reports. Reporter Robert Dursts arrest last month was cut and dry. The fbi suspecting he was about to leave the country made their move first. But thats not how defense attorney dik deguerin sees it. It was illegal. It was not proper. They approached bob in the lobby of the Marriott Hotel and he was under arrest from that point on. Reporter the defense describes this timeline. On march 14th at 3 00 in the afternoon the fbi detained durst. At 6 00 p. M. Agents began to search his room. A. 38 caliber gun and a coat hanging in his closet and marijuana in his luggage was seized. Yet it was only around 2 00 the next morning that authorities applied for a search warrant for his hotel room. Not only that the defense accused state police of intentionally misleading a judge on an application for an arrest warrant, making it appear the gun and marijuana were discovered after a valid search warrant was in hand. In court the assistant District Attorney insisted the arrest was valid, but when attorneys for durst called the fbi agents and state investigators to the stand, no one appeared. The magistrate judge postponed the hearing and ordered the u. S. Attorneys office to either produce the witnesses or in contempt. Burton wouldnt comment but deguerin did. We want to be in court, hear witnesses, crossexamine witnesses. I said to the court it sounds to me like theyre trying to hide the ball. Reporter dursts attorneys are taking these state charges very seriously because theres a lot at stake. If durst were to be convicted on the states weapon charges, he could be sentenced to 15 years in prison. When youre 72 and sick, that could be a life sentence.
