The record cold freeze may bring record cold temperatures tonight from the plains to the ohio valley as the mercury drops into the single digits. This morning freeze warnings extend from arkansas to maine. The warning also includes snow in parts of the midwest up to 2 feet. The snow made for treacherous driving in Oklahoma City yesterday where streets were covered up to 2 inches in snow and ice. In st. Louis the snow covered the st. Louis arch. Meteorologist eric fisher of our boston station wbz says temperatures will be 20 to 40 degrees below average. By tuesday look as these low temperatures. Places like indy, des moines, fargo, in between the cities youll find subzero numbers and on wednesday, low 20s in atlanta. Subfreezing temperatures into the Florida Panhandle and more certainly in the cards. Meanwhile severe storms are dumping rain in alabama and wind gusts of 50 Miles Per Hour are raising fears of wildfires. Red flag warnings are in effect in southern california. And president obama says the beheading of an aid worker is pure evil. Kassig is the fifth that isis has killed. Susan mcginnis is in washington. Good morning. Good morning, annemarie. Peter kassig is being remembered as a humanitarian who helped save the lives of those caught in civilian war. Now washington is accelerating its efforts to destroy the group. The 15minute video purportedly shows isis militants, their faces exposed, decapitating syrian soldiers. At the end a masked man with a britih accent stands over peter kassig. He is the third american and fifth hostage killed by isis. Unlike previous isis videos it doesnt show kassig alive before the beheading. The group does identify the location in Northern Syria and threatens military personnel. Residents of kassigs home state of indiana remember the sacrifices he made to help syrians in need. He chose to go back to help with all the suffering in syria caused by the civil war. Reporter on sunday the white house confirmed the video is authentic, and president obama called the murder an act of pure evil. The u. S. Is pressing forward with its effort to ultimately destroy the terror group. Defense secretary chuck hagel said sunday the u. S. Military is speeding up its training and is advising iraqi force who are fighting isis. Were in the process now of opening four Training Centers in iraq. Reporter hagel said americans should prepare for a long and difficult struggle. Now, there is still another american, a female aid worker believed to be held by isis since last year. Ferguson, missouri, and communities across the country are bracing themselves this morning. They could learn as early as today whether a white Police Officer will face charges in the shooting death of Michael Brown, an unarmed black teen. Omar villafranca reports from ferguson. Reporter some Business Owners in ferguson, missouri, and other nearby towns are bracing for the grand jurys decision. Theyre boarding up their stores in anticipation of possible violence once it is announced whether or not ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson will be indicted for the august shooting death of unarmed 18yearold Michael Brown. Maybe it will happen. Maybe it wont. Reporter this stretch of ferguson is a few blocks away from where Michael Brown was kill and may be a protest location here when the verdict comes out, and almost every business is boarded up. He says he wants police to leave peaceful demonstrators alone and is concerned a Police Presence may provoke them. We want to get justice. The Drug Enforcement Administration Made surprise inspections of at least three nfl teams as part of the investigation into the illegal distribution of painkillers. Reporter the allegations date back to a 2005 civil lawsuit which claims bill cosby drugged and sexually assaulted a woman in his home. Bill cosby denied his accusations, but more than a dozen other women with cases of similar assault testified against him. The case was settled before it went to trial. One of the witnesses is speaking out. Actress Barbara Bowman wrote a piece in the Washington Post and said he abused her multiple times after agrees to be her mentor. She said, bill cosby raped me. Why did it take 30 years for people to believing my story. Ill never forget his clicking belt as he attempted to pull his pants off.
