This morning theyre watching whats happening in syria near the border of turkey. Despite its opposition on the ground and air strikes cared out by the u. S. Coalition, isis fighters are close to gaining control of kubani. The assault has cost hundreds of lives and is putting pressure on turkey to join the alliance fighting the terror group. Susan mcginnis is in washington. Susan, good morning. Good morning, annemarie. The president of turkey says kubani is about to fall to isis, and while he is at odds with the u. S. About joining the coalition he seems to be in agreement with the officials at the pentagon who says the city cannot be saved through air strikes alone. Protests in turkey turned deadly overnight. Police used live ammunition to break up kurdish demonstrators protesting against the isis advance on kubani. Theyre calling on turkeys government to help the band of kurds fighting to maintain control of the border town. Turkish forces are standing by and watching as kubani has weathered an isis siege for three weeks. Fighters from the Islamic Group are already in parts of the city despite american air strooiks. As one pentagon official puts it, we do not have the ability to save kubani from the air. If they take it, it shows they can still take the town even while under american air strikes. Unlike other terrorist groups who win by not losing, this is a win by winning. So from a Strategic Perspective it will look very bad for us, good for them. Turkey says they wont take isis unless the troops get involved. They need to do more to back rebels trying to topple assad. There is a new addition to the coalition. Canadas parliament has voted to approve air strikes against isis target bus they will not be carried out in syria. The authorization only covers targets in iraq. Annemarie . Susan mcginnis in washington. Thank you, susan. The fbi is asking for your help in identifying an englishspeaking man in an isis propaganda video. Beheading people, crucifying people, its very difficult for the people in the west and the u. S. Can justify how their tactics could ever be justifiable. Theyre war crimes. War crimes. Whats a war crime . More than 200,000 dead is not a war crime . Barrel bombs, Chemical Attacks is not a war crime .
