And theres news from washington this morning, a budget deal. After years of very bitter budget battles, a very rare display of bipartisan compromise led to the proposal. Its a deal that would avert another Government Shutdown for two years. Susan mcginnis has more from washington. Susan, good morning. Good morning, annemarie. This is not the grand agreement that many here were hoping for, and its already coming under file from both conservatives and top house democrats, but for the next two years it does break that cycle of jumping from one budget crisis to another. It was reached after two months of private talks between house chairman paul ryan and chairwoman patty murray. Congressman ryan has set aside our differences, wed made some compromises and worked tote to get something done. Reporter what murray and ryan got done is the framework for a deal that provides some level of buchlkt stability not seen in washington for years. The bipartisan proposal sets spending levels for the next two fiscal years. It also restores 63 billion of those acrosstheboard spending cuts known as sequestration, first with more targeted spending cuts, particularly to defend. And by raising fees for Government Services like an extra security fee on airline tickets. I see this agreement as a step in the right direction. And dividing government, you dont always get what you want. That said, we can still make progress toward our goals. The agreement doesnt a raise the debt ceiling, does not improve the Unemployment Benefits that expire at the oenld this month and require businesses to pay higher premiums to guarantee pension benefits. This deal doesnt solve all of our problems, but i think its an important step to help heal some of the wounds in congress. Both sides agree more work needs to be done but also agree a model deal is better than the gamesmanship that led to the Government Shutdown. The house and the senate are expected to approve the deal in the next several days. Pension benefits. Theyre causing this a good first step. House leaders are going to brief everyone today in a closed door step. Hopefully more footsteps will follow. A recently released New York Times poll shows that obamas rating has returned before it was with the health care rollout.
